Wintertime set up. Concrete tees only. It is too much work to clean and find alternate tees. We could use volunteers to clean off concrete tees. Chris Jordan and Tom Schodtler have been extremely helpful the last few years cleaning off tee pads getting them ready for play.

Yea, that was stupid that the park district guy never came to open them. Aw well, didn't stop us.
12 people today. Gates were locked, we parked at the school and walked over. There were some hunters out there when we got started. We heard a couple of very loud gun shots but the hunters ended up leaving. Being park distrct property, I don't think they were supposed to be out there.

League is at Grayslake. The ace has not been hit. I beieve it is around $240. If you can't make league, tags will be passed out at Mitch's after leagues. Mitches is a restaurant on route 83 which is about 5 minutes from the course.

Mike,
You are more than welcome to bring a bagful of white discs. Good luck with it though. I guess we have around 10 to 11 inches.
Bring some carpenter's chalk for your disc. A little bit will help to track. You can also use ribbons if you like. Grayslake is a fairly short 9 hole course but it is fairly easy to misplace or lose discs. I think that last winter we lost at least one each week during league. Leave your favorites at home.
The roads are fine up here. It is pretty cold, but no where near as cold as the league out at Grayslake last year. That was brutally cold. The restaurant where the club meeting is taking place is very close by to the course.
Hope to see everyone up there. We will have the 2010 tags to distribute.

The gates are supposed to be open at sunrise every day. If you get there and they are not open, contact Mundelein Police Department non-emergency. They are contracted with the park district to open the gates.
Sounds good! Thanks!

Hello Chicago peoples.. my buddy and I are heading to Lemon Lake for the pro worlds, and nothing is more enjoyable than stopping by other clubs and courses along the way for doubles nights. But it also means we have a limited number of choices to match our schedule. I know I am asking you to look into a crystal ball considering its a 185 days away, but , based on last summer, does anybody remember or know for this year if any of the clubs/leagues will be shooting for thursdays nights? .It can be anywhere West of Chicago up to a about 50miles.. cant do friday cause we are heading to the Cubs /Cardinals game at Wrigley.. (Go Cubs).. anyway, if anyone can venture as guess at some options, I would be most appreciative.. Thanks.

Updated. Thanks Taylor.
Thanks Fairfield Park and Oak Brook guys . I just checked our route, and it looks like Oak Brook seems be a bit more on line. I the have now penciled in Oak Brook doubles for Thursday, July 22nd.. thanks again for your help. Great club site for a discer looking for info.
heck with worlds.. Im playing doubles at Oak Brook!!
See you then.
Cpt Fidget
I just checked out the info on Oak Brook. Is this the Central Park Course? Cool looking course, but it only shows 9 holes.. Do they play it twice? or is it just a 9 hole doubles event?
Sorry to be a bother.
They play the nine holes twice and could possibly add a couple temporary holes if anyone brings a portable basket that day.

I really thing the league should consider setting a cap on the ace fund at $300 or some other amount deemed appropriate. It's no fun for the collective group when 1 person walks away with all of the money. It's already a very generous amount.
What do others think?
When I saw Mitch's post I thought we had a cap already. I recalled prior discussions. I think I remembered that IOS rolls over to a second fund. There was discussion a few years ago and the consensus seemed to be that $150 was plenty high for a cap. http://discontinuum.org/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=1540.0 However, it seems that nothing ever came out of it other than an IOS cap. This really does not conern me as I am an ace virgin. However, a cap seems reasonable and the current $298 seems to be either at, near or past the number wherer a second fund should be considered.
Tho I am all for a HUGE ace pot at a local league, I do agree that there should be a cap sometime.
We are going to let it ride. This $298 started at zero, the next one will start at zero.
Nice!
