Thanks for getting the early word out on this. I've already got the saturday confirmed off from work. I can't wait. Is that sad or what? The most exciting thing I've got going is knowing that I'll be playing what I know will be a kick ass tournament 4 months from now!

I used to have that same problem with PayPal. It went away when I lost my card and had to get a replacement. Perhaps you can contact PayPal to determine the issue.
how about setting up the ios for online reg. threw pdga then there will be no problems i hate mailing in payments

well i guess its just my national city bank cards cant be used for google or paypal it is to stop fraud since it is so easy to hack into google and paypal to steal card info, here goes snail mail
All you have to do is call the bank and tell them that you authorize charges from those accounts. Banks do it as a precaution sometimes because people are careless with passwords and security, but not so much because people "hack" into the accounts.
Check is in the mail. Thanks Brett and crew, I'm pumped.

I talked to the trophy man today. For the large, reliable divisions and for the micro divisions that pre-register two weeks in advance, we're doing the disc-mounted-on-the-plaque trophies like we've done for the Rockford A-tier and sometimes for overalls . If you play in a division that is defined by age or gender and you want one of those nice plaques, be sure to pre-register two weeks in advance. It is the trophy man's busy season so he won't be able to make last minute trophies.
Unless you'd rather receive a quarter basket plumbing parts trophy like we did for a few tournaments three years ago. I have a half dozen quarter baskets made, and i'll bring them for micro divisions that get in too late. The plaques are nicer. The quarter baskets are kickier.

How many people are interested in the $5 Pro Clinic on Friday at 4pm? I'm trying to get an idea of the # of people to expect. I have been in contact with a 1000+ rated sponsored pro who is interested. If there is a huge interest i'll pursue another 1000+ rated sponsored pro. I gurantee this will be the best $5 you spend on disc golf all year.
I'm sure interested.
id check it out
if i can get that friday off as well i will be in for that. what pro?
if I'm not too wrapped up in other stuff I'd be interested.
Any idea what courses pros will be playing? I'm assuming Red and Blue, but will we play Silver AND Gold? Or no Gold just silver? No Silver just Gold?
Thanks
I don't think MPO will be playing Silver at Worlds..

We are working on the pool schedule now. Our plan is to publish a set pool plan at least a couple of weeks before the tournament. I think Brett is trying to work it so that Open pros will be playing the same courses that they will play at Worlds.
Dana if MPO is not playing Silver, what will the 4th course be? Surely not White unless something has drastically changed.
Dana,
The main goal is to get the MPO-Pro playing the exact courses and layouts that will be played at Worlds. If possible the plan right now for Open is Gold, Blue, Red, and Blue. Blue is being played twice since anyone making the semi finals will be playing it a 3rd time at World's. Things may change.
The goal is to have the player handbook ready and published by May 1st.

Taylor, here is the tentative Worlds' Schedule.

MPO-Gold Tee Times, Blue, Red, Gold Tee Times, Red, Blue, Semi's Blue, Final 9
Brett- I figured that we'd be playing as close to a Worlds layout as possible. I thought that maybe playing the Gold at the A-tier would cut it down to 3 rounds for the pros. Wonder how long a round that will be? Good thing the pro field is capped at 72.
This is going to be awesome!

I anticipate the Blue rounds at 5 hrs. Saturday is going to be a long day for the Open players. Although the Blue course is longer i'd imagine the blue and red courses will play fairly similar in time.
I think Brett meant to say Gold rounds at 5 hours.
You mean Gold ROUND, not ROUNDS?

That is correct. Was quickly typing between classes.
is there a limit on players?
There will definitely be a limit on players. Four pools X 18 hole courses X foursomes = 288. But with the divisions being set in the pools, it is also possible that YOUR pool could fill before the tournament fills. If you have a limited choice on what divisions you can play, pre-register early.
I thought you had to play 4 different courses at worlds? Did that change? Was that never the case?

Fortunately we have someone smarter than me working out this pool stuff. He is already factoring in longer rounds on Gold, and in his draft schedules pros and advanced do not play White, and no one plays White twice. Everyone gets a nice lunch break, but the baskets and tees might get tired.
It will be like our Rockford A-tier where we were prepared to run four pools on three courses with different pools teeing off and finishing at different times all day long. [I cannot remember if we ran four or three pools.] The pros will get done last so other players can see all or part of their last round.
The way they are working out the details, it is going to be awesomer than you can yet imagine!

It has never been a PDGA format requirement. It has been necessary to accomodate as many players as the PDGA wants to let play.

I can not make it for pro clinic on Friday
4.5 of us played the Gold in 3 hours flat today.
Dana, thanks for the info. Did you play Blue too? Blue is now longer than gold and we are trying to figure out predict time for playing that course.
If all goes as planned I'll be playing a round of blue and red on Saturday for practice and Sunday for the C tier. I can measure all the rounds and report back.
The Sunday C-Tier times might be the best help on round times. I don't know how much thicker the brush and stuff would be between now and near the end of May, but this should all be very useful information!
Here is a hypothetical pro payout with 60 Open Players and the estimated $3000 added cash we are anticipating (Currently $2500).
(60 pros X $50entry) - (60 pros x $4 pdga fee) = $2760
(This is the pro entry fee based on 60 pros @ $50 each minus the $4 per player PDGA fee.)
$2760 + $3000 = $5760 total purse.
Why the $50 fee? We don't believe you should have to pay a ton of money to play a weekend of disc golf even at major events. At this event the MPO will be playing for just as much of added cash as the entry fees. Tired of playing for each others entries?
Following based on 40% payout:
1 - 1000
2 - 700
3 - 500
4 - 375
5 - 300
6 - 275

Red longs on Sunday took about 2.5 hours per round, but the course was not very full at all (only pros and advanced played red). Backup holes were 8, 14 and 17. It would be good to have the group ahead allow the group behind to tee after they've thrown their approach shots.

Innova Custom stamp order is arriving tomorrow. I wasn't able to get any at max weight because they ran out, but I have a BUNCH of 165-172g CFR Champion Katana's. I also have XG (Xtra Gummy) Champion Boss, Echo-Star Destroyers, DX Aviar Drivers, Star Roc Plus, Champion TeeBird Plus, CFR Glow Champ TeeBird Plus, and CFR Glow Champ Gazelle's. Let me know if you are interested in picking up any of these in advance!
At some point I also have the custom Discraft order coming in - that will include CryZtal Stalkers, CryZtal Buzzz, as well as some other Discraft goodies :)
What is a TeeBird Plus?
A bunch of sites are reporting this:
"The Teebird Plus has all the benefits of the Teebird with a more comfortable feel, due to the relaxed angle of the bottom lip." As far as I know, however, both the TeeBird+ and Roc+ are more stable versions - would not surprise me if the Plus moniker is a replacement for the "X" moniker "TeeRex-X" "Eagle-X", etc.
AKA they are new discs similar to the old ones, but those have great name recognition so they'll still sell like crazy.
I always thought the TeeBird was pretty comfortable to begin with. 8)

Ryan, I am holding the TD report (which is the tool we use to upload registered players) hostage. Pre-register next week if you want your division to get a funky quarter-toss basket trophy.

Just registered at 9:08 pm. Hope the offer still holds...based on my last round of golf, I'm not favorite for winning it, but I'd at least like my division winner to get a nice trophy! Who knows? Looking forward to Lemony Lake O0

Lake County Parks will be grilling lunch at the Illiana Open. I've been told that they will have hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, and grilled chicken sandwiches. Side dishes potato salad or beans. Pricing will vary per item but was told that the hamburger is $4 and that is the average price.
Look for them to have coffee and fruit for sale in the morning.

We are finalizing the player handbook right now. The pool schedule will be in the book. We will have printed copies at the tournament but we will have it available online as well. This will happen in the next day or two. I couldn't even begin to tell you how many man hours that Scott has put into making the player handbook or how many hours Brett has spent putting together the course information for the handbook. Likewise, Mike Krupicka spent a lot of time working on the course and pool schedule. I really hope everyone appreciates the effort that went into just the player handbook for this event!

Has it been determined which courses will be played for each pool yet or is that yet to be determined? I have heard stories, but didn't know if anything was somewhat official yet.
The player handbook should be posted tonight. It was definitely much more difficult than we anticipated. Sorry for the delay.
This is what has been locked down-
Division Assignments:

Pool B: All Advanced Men's divisions, All other Pros
Pool C: Intermediate, All Amateur Women, All Juniors

First off, thank you guys for this information it makes planning and if time permits practicing much easier. After seeing the chart, I can see how complex the set up is for this many people/courses.
Is this schedule final?
This schedule is final. We don't see it changing. Remember there is a cap of 72 players per pool. 72 players have signed already, don't get shut out.
(Of course the TDs reserve the right to make last minute changes for factors outside our control.)
awesome. thanks alot to all involved.
The pool schedule will NOT change based on pre-reg. If a pool fills, it fills. We're not going to be shuffling around small divisions at the last hour to get more players in the tournament.
The start times for the pools could change if there was a lightning delay or that sort of thing.
I'm pleased to be the one posting the official 2010 IOS #2 Discontinuum Presents the Illiana Open Player Handbook.
While what we will be handing out to players will be in a booklet format, I have reformatted it for each of viewing online and ease of printing.
You can either download the attachment to this post or click the following link to download the handbook:
http://www.paperorplasticsports.com/discgolf/2010IOS2-PlayerHandbook-Web.pdf (http://www.paperorplasticsports.com/discgolf/2010IOS2-PlayerHandbook-Web.pdf)
Thanks to the many hands that were involved in the creation of this handbook!
The player guide looks great Scott.
What is the easiest way to print this thing out and fold it together into a booklet and have the pages be in the correct order?
Use this version to print if you have a duplex printer. Make sure it flips on the short edge (rather than the traditional long edge). And if you have the means, printing on 11x17 makes a nice large print edition for those playing in the Advanced Masters division..
Thanks Mike. Works good.
looks great guys.
The silver course had some tweaking it looks like. My 2 rounds from silver the last 2 Indiana St. Championship rounds were 49(1018 rated), and 54. With par being 58, that 54 would look awesome.
Thanks for modifying that post to include your 1018 rating information Doug.
AM's - All am's that play at the A-Tier receive a $25 Reward Dollar player pack! Expect the usual great payout and lots of other goodies as well!

Thank you to Vibram for sponsoring the putting competition. www.vibramdiscgolf.com
Homie's date will be corrected, I had it in the handbook before the date was posted online, and for some reason I always thought it was on a Saturday, not a Sunday. The correct date is Sunday, 10/10.
I will be taking registrations at doubles tomorrow night at Adler.
Qualifying for Am Nationals
The Top 20% rounding up including ties and skipping over pre-qualified players will qualify for Am Nationals.
Nine of our 21 pre-registered players are pre-qualified. If these players finish in the top half of the field, qualifying could go as low as 10th-14th. As more players pre-register for advanced, more players will qualify and probably more pre-qualified players will be in the field.
If you've wanted to qualify for and play Am Nationals, this tournament will offer a great opportunity to qualify.
I qualified last weekend at Lexington!
Currently $2,900 added cash to MPO-Open. 22 remaining spots avaliable in the A-Pool.
There will be quite a few CTP's with items donated from Paragon,Glide, WIDYE, Springfield DGC, & DISContinuum DGC.
There were a couple revisions made to the handbook (sponsors, Homie date, stuff like that), the new one is now available here:
http://www.paperorplasticsports.com/discgolf/2010IOS2-PlayerHandbook-Web.pdf (http://www.paperorplasticsports.com/discgolf/2010IOS2-PlayerHandbook-Web.pdf)
No tournament specific details change, although mention of the Vibram putting competition is also now mentioned.

Apparently I qualified with my mediocre play at Hamilton last year. Qualifying has never been so easy! Wish I could go to Am Nats this year, but its not realistic. Maybe next year.
As for Lemon Lake, I am incredibly excited for this event this weekend. This will probably be my only A-tier this year, so hoping to make a solid showing! The weather looks great, the courses are fantastic, we just need more advanced players to start signing up for this thing!
I can guarantee this is going to be just a fun, well-organized event. Advanced players, please sign up now. Do not miss out on the fun. Its only 50 bucks for a high quality 4 round A tier event. You aren't going to beat that.
19 spots remaining for Pool A. My guess is that this time tomorrow I'll be able to run payouts for Pool A. :o

Believe me Doug, I'd love nothing more than to play the GPO. I was very disappointed I had to miss it last year. But, my wife and I are expecting a child near that time and it would not be wise for me to leave her that weekend to go play disc golf. I'm hoping to be back in action for the July 17th Sterling event.
Mad City falls on my sister-in-law's wedding day this year as well, so I don't have much luck this year with getting to play big events. Just have to make the most of the ones I do get to play!

Similar week of forecast for Springfield this past weekend. I can't even begin to imagine getting paid to read a computer screen on TV with a title more than broadcaster.
yes, Dan. A wise move, not to plan a disc golf weekend when expecting a child. Congrats on that. That was the reason I took all those years off from competing in tournys from 1999-2008. I know I am a better dad than a disc golfer :o
I'm sure you will do just fine this weekend. If that gold course plays anything like Blue Valley at Worlds last year, you should tear that up as well.
I'm like you though. Hope to see at least 15-20 more advance sign up before Friday?? 22 just doesn't seem like a A-TIER event.
Good luck to you.
start contacting your facebook friends or local guys you know that also play, encourage them to come out. Nothing beats word of mouth to spread news of an event!
I just signed up for IOS 2 but forgot to put my pdga number. its #37983 and im playing recreational. thanks, Bob.
Marriage and a baby. Congrats, congrats. I'm hoping you married the chick who comes out to tournaments and carries your bag sometimes, but if not, I can understand why you'd be busy! ;D
Thanks Bruce. Only a handful of Joliet-area advanced players currently signed up. Many of them have started playing Open, but still you'd think we'd get 35 for a 50 dollar A tier. The Homie last year had 34 advanced. Hopefully there are some last minute reg's still to come. An advanced event in Lansing, MI is probably keeping away MI ams and Indiana just doesn't have a large player base. We need the Illinois players to show up.
At least the Open field is going to fill. Thats always a good sign.
Jason Poole will be taking pre-reg's at J-Town doubles tomorrow night. I'll be taking pre-reg's at Oswego Handicap league Thursday night. Make sure to get in!
Wow! What a crazy day. I have been entering names nonstop!
There are only 2 spots left in the A-Pool.
Online registration closes Thursday at 10:00PM. Please spread the word. This event is going to be a MONSTER!
There's 27 advanced right now with 2 more this morning in the store. I'd bet we'll be over 35 before Friday is over.
up to 30 advanced now. thats a lil better. how's bout 40??
MPO, Men's Pro Open (Pool A) is full!!!! No more Men's Pro Open registrations will be taken.
I'm happy to report that the guy who got the last spot in MPO is Aaron Alinowski who is one of the two full-time grounds keepers at Lemon Lake! The other grounds keeper, Rudy Spiller, is an amateur and will also be playing. If you see or play with these guys this weekend please thank them for all their work. I know they get paid for it but it is also really nice to be appreciated for the work that one does.
I have played with Aaron before. Real class act guy.

registered in March, just got the yards mowed, honey-do-list is done. Now pack some clothes and ready for a great weekend. Already got Monday off to recoop from the last round on the gold course, and the 4 hour drive home. Priorities!

At least eleven of our 33 pre-registered players are pre-qualified. If these players finish in the top half of the field, qualifying could go as low as 12th-18th. As more players pre-register for advanced, more players will qualify and probably more pre-qualified players will be in the field.

Lake County Parks is doing the lunch so its a little out of our control but I did provide them with times that people would most likely be wanting to eat lunch. I told them on Saturday that some people would probably want lunch starting around 11am and continuing through 3:30pm.
They are planning on being there in the morning on Saturday with coffee and fruit so I'll talk to whoever is actually coordinating it there and make sure they got the times.

There will be a bulletin board at tourney central this weekend. I will have all course updates posted on it. It is the responsiblity of the player to check the board. It's in the player handbook.
Silver/Gold Update
On Friday I am marking each tee pad with flags so there is no confusion.
Silver--Shorts-> White Flags
Gold--Longs-> Blue Flags

Online registration for The Illiana Open is now closed. You can still register Friday at the course for $60 all divisions except for Open (Open is full).
There will be NO registrations taken on Saturday!!!
Final totals on added cash. $3,047.
NIIICE!!
Be aware, lots of poison ivy out there. Wear pants or tube sox. There are some wet spots too, so bring extra shoes and sox.
Dont forget to stop by the Vibram putting contest, its free!
Gold course record is 60 right now (that is with playing 2 long, we will play 2 short in the tourney). My guess is someone hits 55 or 56 if they get hot. Guessing 1000 will be 64ish?
I'm not sure if its needed, but Gold hole 12 was pretty wet in the middle of the fairway before all of yesterdays rain, casual relief may be needed?

wasn't par on Silver 58, and Red 59? so rounds of 61, 61, should be +5? pdga.com shows that as being +6

Just got home. Diana and Kelsey are headed up to mouse camp. Had fun. Hope everyone else did too.
Thanks to the IOS crew and Lemon Lake for another great tournament. Congrats to Kira for kicking everyone's butt in rec. I played with her round two and the way she was playing she definitely deserved to win. Weather was great both days. Couldn't ask for anything more. Definitely liked the "Hot Start" and "Flight Life", those are things that make IOS tournaments great. Even if you don't cash you can win those two things like I did and feel like you walked away with something. That's great added touch. I look forward to the next one.
Great event, thanks to the IOS Crew and Red Roc Crew for all the hard work.
Gold done whooped me :o
actually the Open scores show 244 as even par, but the ams show 244 as +2? how is that possible
if Par was 244, and 58(silver) 59(red) 60(blue) 67(gold) do add up to 244, then shouldn't 244 for the advanced total be E for the tourny?
cause Open played blue, gold, red, blue, 60+67+59+60=246. It looks like you have them set backwards. Open Par was 246, so 244 should show -2, not Even. and vice versa for the ams, 244 should be Even, not +2
does anyone else see this?

I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. I'm sure it's just a par that I didn't set the same in the online tool as Brett did in his final course docs. I setup the online tool before Brett had set the final pars for the course. When I lost the online course schedule it still had the courses that I setup.
Since par only matters in disc golf when someone is late for their round, it is not really important to fix. But since it doesn't look right I'll fix it. Probably not until Wednesday though.
If anyone cares, it looks like when ratings get official, rec/nov ratings will go up some on Red and Blue ,and Open Pro ratings will go down some.
What a massive event and to be run so smoothly and without any noticeable glitch. Koodos to everyone involved in putting this A+ event together, IOS Crew and Red Roc Crew. Had a blast! Gold done whooped me too. Mud, blood and Beer.
Why do you care about par that much, Doug?
For the pros, there was a 20 point swing from Blue R1 to Blue R4. Saturdays conditions were darn near perfect (minus the mud).
I was initially surprised to see the 57s on Gold were only 1039. I was off a few shots with my prediction that 1000 would be around 64, with it ending up being 62.
How about Steve Slater slaying the Red with a 48!
that 1039 rated 57 seemed to be low. I thought it would be somewhere near 1060. who knows.
Huge shout out to Brett, my brother Keith, and Jonathan Turley for hanging out afterwards to pack up the van. I was mostly finished loading before 8, and I didn't think I was going to leave until closer to 9! You guys rock :)
Also props to Brian Cummings for letting me use their dolly - that thing was nice! I need to get one of those!

Why do you care about par that much, Doug?
not that I care a bunch Dana. It just looked weird seeing the open board showing 244 was even par, and ams was different. yes either way you look at it, i played terrible on Saturday, was just wondering, that's all.
Wow! What a weekend. I am just recovering. I personally spent more time on this event than any other that i've been involved with. I don't think a lot of players understand the amount of man hours spent by a small army of people to offer the best event possible.
There is a bunch of people I want to thank. I am sorry if I miss you and I appreciate what you added to the event.
Thank you to the players for coming!
Brian Cummings and Red Roc. Thank you for welcoming us to run the event at Lemon Lake.

Cash $
$3,047 added went to the purse. Very close to the goal. Was hoping that the open field would be playing for just as much added cash as their entry fees. Entry fees for MPO was $3,600.
