2010 IOS #4 @ Waukegan, IL MONDAY July 5th - The Bevier Blast
One Day Only
Pro C-Tier / AM B-Tier
Full Details and Registration Here! (http://store.discontinuum.org/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=4)
This event has been changed to July 5th because the park was going to be too busy on the 3rd. If you don't already have the 5th off, this is a good excuse to take a vacation day! ;D
how are you gonna run an event on a monday? in order for people to shoot they have to take the day off work, no free weekends to shoot this? where i work we cant take any vacation june- aug. and holiday we have to work only one off is christmas
July 5th is the observed holiday for a lot of businesses, and if the park says no to running a disc golf tournament on the 3rd, you're stuck unless we rearrange a lot of the schedule. No sick days where you work either? ;)
It's on the PDGA calendar now! ;D
I know that everyone doesn't get the 5th off and I appologize if you really wanted to attend but can not get the day off. When scheduling tournaments you have to take into consideration the needs of the many and realize that every date you pick will have some people with conflicts and they will be unable to attend.
There are no events in the area on the PDGA calendar for the July 4th weekend so I'm hopeful that we will have a good turn out for those that have the day off.
Barcas420,
You look kind of like you have some weird malady that will peak around July 5th. You may want to call in Sick. You'll probably be alright by the 6th though. :-X
DaveO
I personally like the idea. There are a lot of players who work on Saturday and Sunday and never get the opportunity to play events.
I guess i can go im on third shift, this is gonna be fun, I hope there is a big turn out. i will see you there, will send out pre reg today.
Great idea to have the event on Monday!
This gives the people playing am worlds a chance to play.

More power to ya if you come out to Bevier on the 5th after playing am worlds!
Usually I need a month off after worlds, but they have the Am Grands on short tees [while strangely putting the much lower rated am women and am master women on longs] so maybe I'll bounce back faster. Bouncing back in two days, though, seems unlikely.
Online registration for IOS #4 is open! http://store.discontinuum.org/

What time is check in for the Bevier Blast?
It's whatever time we're setup. ;) You can count on being able to check-in by 7:45am.
On-line registration will be open until 8pm Sunday, July 4th.
Registrations are coming in. I'll start getting them online tonight.
I'll be out at the course this weekend to take a few pictures for the trophy frames.
Tom McManus will be setting up two of the usual temp holes that we use out there so we'll be playing two rounds of 20 holes. This course really is the hidden gem of Lake County disc golf.
I'm really looking forward to this leg of the IOS. Should be a really good time.
I contacted the PDGA office yesterday about the upcoming ratings deadline. New ratings are coming out on July 20th so the deadline to get in TD reports is the 5th. Usually that deadline is the close of business however, they told me that if I get the TD report e-mailed the evening of the 5th that they will include it in the batch.
I can't guarantee you a win or that you will play under par or that your putts will fly straight, but I can guarantee you that your IOS #4 rounds will be included in the next ratings update! I'm sorry, but it's the best that I can do. ;D
Somebody asked me today, here in Ohio, if there'd be walk up registration on Monday! Let me know. I told yeah, I think so, but check Discontinuum.

There will be walk-up registration as long as we're not full. I doubt that we will fill. On-line registration will be open until 8pm Sunday night.
Jon,
Is there anyway we can view all of the players who have signed up?

Hi there,
I see what time check in starts but I couldn't find anywhere what time the players meeting starts? I'm playing the course blind and have a bit of a drive from where I'm staying to the course, so I want to make sure I get there with enough time to warm up.
Thanks!

Cool! We'll see you on Monday!!
By the way, on the flyers this event is advertised as a C tier but it is a Pro C-tier and Amateur B-tier. So for the Ams, you'll get B-tier points and a Pick-Your-Own B-tier player pack.
Updated (and corrected) the registration list this morning...

PM registration update!
We received 3 more registrations today putting us well over the 1/5 full mark! ;D I'll add the new ones tonight.
...probably playing but can't commit...
Hey Jon. Do you know what alternates we will be playing?

Hey Jon. Do you know what alternates we will be playing?
Two holes north of the baseball diamond. one going northeast and the other coming back west towards hole one. Basket down by the creek. A par four hole.
It's getting late so I'll update registrations tomorrow. However, there are 8 more registrations sitting in the store which is going to ramp us up to almost 1/3rd full!!! ;D And that's just a couple shy of official B tier status!
http://www.pdga.com/tournament-results?TournID=10562
Registration updated. 31 players. Pretty close to 1/3rd full.
We are 1/3rd full with 33 players!
So Carla's a no go and I'm 50/50. We'll see how the body is feeling in the morning.
We went and played Lemon Lake on Saturday and that was a little more golf than my body wanted to really play (especially at nearly 90 degrees).
I'm kinda too tired to think but scores are up. Submitting the TD report.....NOW! ;D

Serge, you always do it first class. I only had an 83 point swing but I never could keep up with you. ;D Nothing like going from first card to last cash.
Jon and Scott- Great event. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. It was a delightful day to bake in the sun and throw things.
Thanks to everyone that played! I think the turnout was great with 75 players. I really wasn't sure what to expect since we'd never done a tournament on a Monday legal holiday before, but it turned out well. I got a little baked out there also which I thought was strange since I never sat in the sun!
Many thanks to:
Tom McManus for setting up the two temp holes and to Dave Nelson for helping him break them down at the end of the day. Becky and Kelsey for helping with registration in the morning and scoring throughout the day. Mike Krupicka for making a last minute errand in the morning and then helping with scoring at the break and after the second round. It is the help of Tom, Becky, Kelsey and Mike that make it possible for me to get scores in and posted so quickly. Bruce for also helping with scoring and with awards at the end of the day. Scott Pitner of paperorplasticsports.com and Adrian Sr. (and their other helpers) for running the merch side. They do such a good job that I don't have to be concerned with anything that is happening on that front. Maddisen for cutting score cards and leaderboard cards. Brett for making the original Bevier course layout sheet that I could copy and put on the back of the score cards for this tournament. The Waukegan Park District for providing the course, pavilion and other park amenities. Discontinuum for allowing me to use the club store for pre-reg. And finally to the weather for not raining on us! It was hot and blustery but at least it didn't rain.
If I've missed anyone I'll blame it on the heat. There's always someone that stepped up to help in some way that I was unaware of or had forgotten in the heat of the moment. So, to those guys who see that something needs to be done and just do it...thanks to you as well!
I had a good time and was very pleased with this event. I look forward to many Bevier Blasts! in the years to come.
I also wanted to throw a special shout out to those guys that played Worlds and then came out to this event. That's called endurance!
See you all at Sinnissippi!
Wanted to give a shout out to the Jackson family as the ones that were the "other helpers" that Jon had referenced in his post. Without the help of Adrian and the Jackson's, there's no way that I would have been able to do what I did at this tournament. They all rock! Thanks Mark for the tunes, and I look forward to many more :)

Mark also looked up the PDGA numbers for a few people that didn't have their PDGA numbers handy. That was a help because the PDGA did not send me a list of current players for this event. Probably an oversight because of the Monday event or because of Worlds.
Looks like the Blast will make into the next ratings update because the unofficial ratings and Am payouts have already been removed online. The week after next you should be able to see your official ratings for this event! I had been promised by the PDGA office that if I sent in the results Monday night that they would be included in this ratings update but you never know until it happens. ;)
