IOS #7 @ Jericho Lake, Aurora, IL AND Eagle Ridge, Oswego, IL--8/21 2010
Pro C-Tier / Am B-Tier
2 Rounds of 20 Holes - 1 at EACH COURSE
SINGLE DAY ONLY!
Due to a scheduling snafu, IOS #7 has been changed up. It will now ONLY be on Saturday, August 21st! In order to compensate for all divisions, we will be playing at BOTH Eagle Ridge in Oswego and Jericho Lake Park in Aurora. Stay tuned for what divisions will play from what tees and what course to report to. It will most likely be shorts for all divisions at Oswego, then longs at Aurora for Pro, Adv, Adv Master and shorts for the rest. It depends on how large pre-reg is to decide where to split the pools at. I don't think we can do longs at Oswego because at the same time the rest of the players will be playing shorts at Aurora - and that is a MUCH faster round than Longs @ Oswego.
FREE TO PRE-REGISTER
We're going to try something slightly different for the pre-registration this time. To get in for this tournament, you don't have to pay ahead of time! You can email me at scott@paperorplasticsports.com - or go through paperorplasticsports.com to fill out the registration form (will be available soon). You just need to give me your name, PDGA #, and what division you will play. That will get you on the list.
At the tournament: Entry fee will be $30 for AM's, $50 for Pro's, $20 for Juniors. No $5 walk-up fee! Trophy only will be available for $20, 1/2 in Pro's for $25.
BONUS: AM's that want to play both weekends, August 14th and August 21st, just pay $50 on August 14th @ West Park, and you get to play both tournaments - that's $10 off! You still get the same player pack, same amount added to payouts, all that great stuff! This is just added incentive to come on out and play these IOS events. Sorry about all the changes we've had to make! This discount will not be available for Trophy Only or for Pro's, sorry!
So no A-tier in Hamilton then?
will be a B-Tier in September @ Hamilton
That is correct. No A-Tier in Hamilton. Chase Roberts is running it as a 1 day B-Tier.
bump - be sure to read the first post of this thread, some major changes happening!!!
is the 1st posts date correct?
Advanced will play Saturday? That would be sweet!
You don't have to worry about the one round taking longer than the other. The round that plays fast also has at least an hour lunch break after. But if the two pools will play the entire tournament in much different times, you might want to do the awards for the fast pool while the slow pool is still playing.
Doug - first post dates are correct, EVERYBODY plays Saturday. It has been switched to single date only to accommodate availability of the Jericho Lake course.
sweet. check will be in the mail shortly

You do not need to pay up front for your registration. You can sign up for IOS #6 & 7 if you go to the IOS 6 page to sign up. Don't forget that AM's save $10 if they play both IOS 6 and IOS 7! (does not apply to trophy only)
any word yet on what divisions will start at what course? I know only 11 registered so far, but it is just 12 days away.
All Pro and Advanced, Advanced Master divisions are going to start at Jericho to play longs @ Jericho first round, longs at Oswego 2nd round. Longs @ Oswego are probably going to take the most time to play, that's why I wanted to make it 2nd round.
All other divisions REPORT TO JERICHO FIRST. Then you will travel to Oswego (10 min) and play there 1st round. They will play Oswego shorts first round, Jericho shorts 2nd round.
Intermediate Men is still in limbo. It really depends on how pre-reg for IOS 7 goes this week. I currently have 6 pending to be added to the list. I'm going to review the numbers before making the decision, but right now I'm leaning adding Intermediate with Pro and Advanced. I think a division of 900+ rated players would prefer the longs. A definitive decision will be made for Intermediate men later in the week. The remainder should stay the same.
I'm going to try to make sure that Pro's get paid out at Oswego. The AM's will have to come back to Jericho at the end of the day. If an ace is hit, it will be paid out at Jericho. There will be separate 50/50's, BOTH played AT Jericho AND paid out AT Jericho (end of 1st round, end of 2nd round).
If you still want me as a course TD, I'm available. We can talk this weekend. I'll be there this weekend to help also.
To help with the registration process and get everything sorted out - ALL DIVISIONS REPORT TO JERICHO LAKE PARK IN AURORA to check-in/register
2 more things:
Format change - Oswego will play just the standard 18. Since the tournament staff will be divided, it would be a lot more difficult to keep an eye on the temp baskets that would be set up near the path. Jericho is still drying out, so we may have to do 17-> 18's basket and add a temp hole, but that course may be only 18 or 19 holes instead of 20.
2nd thing - ACE FUND HAS ROLLED OVER! $219 has rolled over to IOS #7.
Reminder: All divisions report to Jericho Lake in the morning. Pre-registration is now at 50 players! There are 33 in pool A and 17 in pool B, so make sure you get a spot. Each pool has a max of 90 players.
I played Jericho on Monday night. Even though there is not much rain in the forecast this week, 17 is still pretty muddy. I'm going to set up a temp hole (probably the pond shot) and then have pool A play from 17's long to 18's basket, and pool B play from 17's short to 18's basket. 18's teepad will NOT be played. I will bag hole 17's basket to make sure people play to the right one. The rough is really thick that separates you from 18's basket, spotter recommended.
Also - TONS of mosquitos. Make sure to bring bug spray!
only been to Jericho Lake one time in 2008 and can't remember. Are the long tees concrete?
Scott,
Pre-registered as a non-PDGA member on accident. That was a lie. Wasn't paying enough attention to what I was doing in my hotel room. See you Saturday (finally).
Thanks,
Durov
All permanent tees at Jericho are concrete.
Thanks Mike.
Yes, concrete at Aurora, limestone at Oswego for the longs. Concrete for both on the shorts.
Pre-reg is at 67 players right now - still have to update the list. Make sure to save yourself a spot and pre-reg! You don't have to pay until you show up tomorrow! EVERYBODY REPORT TO JERICHO LAKE.
The pool playing the longs is going to fill up faster than the other pool, so if you're playing Pro, Adv, Adv Masters, or Intermediate, make sure to save a spot!
Pre-Reg list is up to date. Currently 52 players in pool A, and 26 players in pool B.
ALL PLAYERS REPORT TO JERICHO LAKE IN THE MORNING.

Bruce, Maddisen and I had a pretty good time hanging out at the Oswego course and watching people play. Much better weather than last Saturday! Hopefully no one heard me bitching out a casual player during the first round. He and I had a "difference of opinion". I apologized to that guy once they gave up play and he apologized to me but there was a moment there where I thought he was going to beat the crap out of me...and Kira was no where to be found to back me up!
I wish I would have had beverages to sell out there! It's just not something that I do at any of our tournaments so I didn't think about doing it there.
I hope everyone had a great day out there!!!
Sorry Jon - I would have tried to get drinks to you, but didn't go the extra effort because I didn't have another large cooler. Thanks for the help at Oswego!
Thanks to all of my help this weekend! It was a wonderful day today.

I did verify to make sure that round ratings are based on the appropriate layouts that everyone played during the day. Some crazy scores today!
NO ACES WERE HIT - so the ace fund rolls to IOS #8 @ Streamwood! I don't know the exact number, but it should be like something over $400!
