Wed-Sat, Oct 6-9, 2010
The entry fee will be paid in full by State Coordinator Brett Comincioli. The entry was raised thanks to Dana Vicich at the GPO last year. This is for the entry fee only. The player winning this spot will not get cash. This is for the entry fee only!
The IL State Rep spot will be reported to the USDGC late in the year by the state coordinator. Do not contact the USDCG. The State Coordinator will handle this.
If the winning player qualifies at another event during the year the next person in line will be awarded the USDGC spot. They will be responsible of paying their own entry.
If the winner does not plan on attending it will be bumped down to the next player.

Due to an injury Rob Strasser will be unable to attend the USDGC. I found this out yesterday. The #2 qualifer was unable to attend with the last minute notice. I got on the phone last night and this morning and got everything set. Dana Vichich will be representing Illinois. He is on the road as we speak. He just said he was in Indy and had an ETA of 12 hrs to Rock Hill.
Al Hermosillo will also be representing Illinois. He was awarded the TD Spot from Brian Cummings for running Pro Worlds.
Good luck fellas!
Glad to hear we have a couple local players to follow this week.
Good luck Dana!

Dana gets to play with the World Champ and Mela. Sweet!
Heeren is having a rough trip. Forgot his wallet in a fast food place and had to drive 300 miles out of the way.
Something happens at the sketchy hotel they stay and and Cobus gets busted up by the cops.
Today he gets out to take some pictures. Forgets to put the car in park and his SUV ends up in the pond. Delays the round! DOH!!!

Thankfully, Cobus did not get busted by the cops. They were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Just watched Hermosillo take 5 drives from 18's tee pad. What a tough shot with all of the OB!
Played a pretty solid round today. Had 1 bad hiccup on hole 14, I threw 2 dif. upshots OB and took an 8. I was shooting really well up until that point. I also layed up on 17 and then threw OB. This stroke and distance stuff is tough. Al had a rough day. It sounds like he would throw 1 shot terrible and then 1 shot perfect. He's looking to put a round together in the 50's tomorrow.
Me? Well, I'd be happy in the 60s for the rest of the weekend.. Lauren Lakeburg is out there working her butt off taking pictures all over the place.
Keep it in the faiway Dana!
Chris made the news today. Doh!

Very interesting looking at the scores this year. The new OB rule has really created some crazy separation. Doss blew up out there and is 16 strokes behind Nikko. Doss had 2 triples and 4 doubles! I'm sure he's loving the OB right now. :(
The lesson seems to be you are always 1 hole away from massively screwing up your round. Orum got to -7 through 13 holes, then went quintuple bogey, double bogey back to back. McBeth had 8 birdies, 1 bogey, and an 11 on hole 12 which is often birdied or eagled. Barry was -7 through 12 holes, then took a 10 on 13. Not many events you can take a 10 and still be right there in the hunt for the title.
Anything can happen with 3 rounds left. I like that huge pack of elite players at 65, 4 shots off the lead. Cale, Ulibarri, Barry, Climo, Feldberg. 4 shots is nothing on this course.
Keep it inside the ropes Dana! Good luck.
So long as we have stroke and distance for lost disc, it makes sense to have stroke and distance for o.b. It makes no sense to punish a flukey shot more than a bad shot.

Or just hit the ace: "Dana Vicich aces hole 1!"

That course has to be absolutely brutal. Al H has 5 birdies through 12 holes and he is a plus 18. Nice job on the ace Dana.

haha Bret, what Chris is this?

Talk about a rollercoaster round! I threw so many shots OB today. The sad thing is, some of the shots were safe putter upshots that I threw poorly.
Al missed his first 2 holes and he wasn't even on the bottom of the box on hole 3!
Glad I payed the 5 bux to get in the acepot!!!!
Nice work Dana keep up the good work and no more OB. I guess easer said than done, the course looks brutal. Congrats on the ace if its on film I want to see it. Come on 60's.
Some hi-larious hi-jinks as the USDGC today. Details on the pdga.com thread. :happy7:
Not trying to jinx it, but Dana is -6 without a bogey through 12 holes. Tied for the best round on the course right now. Still a long way to go, but you can't ask for a better start.
62 Dana! Wow. Congrats.
Looking like Nikko vs. Schusterick for the title tomorrow. Wish I was there to watch.
Nice work Dana!
Live coverage starts at 12:15 today with the lead group scheduled to tee at 12:30.
