Title: This weekend.
Post by: CEValkyrie on April 21, 2010, 08:47:04 AM
Does anyone have a plane or helicopter?  What a frustrating weekend coming up. Nothing to play within 4 hours. Lebanon, IN is the closest.

Next weekend IOS #1, Janesville, Valpo, and Lemon Lake.

Sounds like a great weekend for a roadtrip to SPI and checkout the new courses for the upcoming B-tier and do a pre-trip...   ;)

Sounds like the injury is a thing of the past, Brett!

Back is great. 100%.

I considered that Jim. I was thinking about playing Springfield on the way to Alton. Have a free place to stay in Collinsville. The buster on Alton was a max of 72 players and no prereg. Alton is a fantastic course too.

I believe I am going to hit up Channy on Saturday to practice for next weekend.

Funny, Taylor, the last time I played Channy before a tournament, you were there.  I plan to be there sometime Saturday assuming the skies are not having a major temper tantrum. Crying is ok, but downright sobbing and blubbering  might stop me.

Brett,

If you do come down before the tourney, I definitely want your opinion on what we are doing - would love to drain your brain on what is or is not a good change...

Brett. I am going to Macomb on Sunday around 11am to play the WIU course with Kenny and the team. If you don't do Alton, come down. I'm sure we have room for another.

The Waterford Brakels are thinking about driving down to Bucyrus and etc. to play the Am Worlds courses.  But if anyone wants to meet at Flip City, I'll see if I can change my plans.

Not sure how far Stevens Point is but Dave Nasp and Erik "The kid" Stefan are going to the Standing Rocks Open this weekend.  Might be too late to enter though haha

Stevens Pt is 3.5 to 4 hours from here. That event has been full for a while.

Channahon was wet
only for half an hour
otherwise pleasant.

we missed the Hawks game
but listened to the finish
on the radio.

The radiocast

after Channahon

But the video
I saw on NHL Net
unbelievable.

Try substituting
"coming home" for "on way back."
It's better grammar.

I, too, noticed that the Lebanon event was the closest...so I figured I'd just go get my first PDGA event in the books.  I ended up coming from behind to win the MA3 division (probably should have played MA2).  The TDs were great and the event ran really smoothly.  Fun course, too!

For me this weekend

IN state T  >  have not played much  shot 1  over on white last weekend  red i would expect around +6
have not putted much

or

Sinnissippi Open
  >  practice for IOS

either way I spend a litte $$$$

is Sinnissippi a course that requires play before the T ?

i know its wise to practice the course prior to the T but
on the other hand , i wanna support the IN state group T as well

50   50  right now

There is not a lot of rough at Sinnissippi, so I'd say its easier to play the 1st time than some other courses.  If I had to choose between playing a tournament at Sinnissippi or on the White course at Lemon Lake, I'm choosing Sinnissippi 100% of the time.

There a number holes at Sinnissippi where there are a couple different ways to approach the hole. Having a plan of attack on these is a good idea.

if you are confident in your abilities I would say get out to Lemon this weekend and play it blind for IOS. Ive played close toa half dozen tournaments this year on courses Ive never set foot on. I try to at the very least just walk the course and maybe take one driver and a mid out there with me to try to see if the 'line is there'.

Ive placed worse at tournaments that i know the course like the back of my hand than courses Ive played for the first time.  I almost find it easier for the sole reason that Im not expecting to hit THAT line, with THIS disc.

Ill be out at Lemon Saturday, and playing in the Dueces Wild tournament on sunday.

Good luck to everyone

hell, never lacked confidence in general

took on the big boys last year at pro worlds with sub 875  rating ( maybe sub 850 )

finished
( dead last )
but finished

leaning toward just playing sinnisippi
at this time

bag tag 35  ish  available

agreed 100%.
I can play a course blind better than McNaughton in a tournament 999 times out of 1000. I don't know why that is, but it is a fact! don't know if I am trying too hard at my home course or what, but even courses during any GPO, I don't shoot what I am capable(or most often shoot in a casual round)  of shooting, or even close to that matter.

To play Lemon Lake Red course, and White(never have played it) or Sinnissippi, I would go to Lemon, just for the fact the real deal Sinnissippi event is at the end of July. and nothing at Sterling really requires alot of thought.  except maybe #3 and #5.

either way you go, you are making a good decision though. you will be playing disc golf!  ;)

that it was. still, excuse or not, this is 100% the truth for myself. I have shot -8 at McNaughton from the short tees, as my personal best. but the best I have ever shot during any tournament is even par.?  ::)

Yes, by posting your score for 1 round you have clearly proven that every casual round you shoot will be better than every tournament round you shoot.  Hard to argue with that.
Title: Re: This weekend.
Post by: pdga#7648 on July 14, 2011, 06:40:27 AM
lmao. no Dan.  I'm just saying, I have never posted this type of round at my home course in any tournament.  so for some, the home course curse, may be of some logic, and not just an excuse.

I was on fire the front 9, now that there is hard to argue with.

Post by: smyith on July 14, 2011, 02:52:44 PM
home course woes(curse) are caused by expectations. because its your home course you know what you should be shooting. so instead of playing it hole by hole and beating the course, like you would casually, youre focusing on your overall instead. im pretty sure dan roddick wrote an article about this kind of thinking and the inconsistency its causes. its better to focus on the hole and shot at hand and forget about the previous hole(s)/shot(s) and upcoming one(s). playing in the moment and learning how to maintain a really positive mental game the whole tournament, it was turns in good rounds. well that and practice...
i think alot of people confuse expectations and their confidence. having the confidence to make the shot at hand, is different than having the expectation that you will make the shot at hand.
