Title: Weirdness today
Post by: mirth on November 30, 2002, 08:51:10 PM
Hey all, sorry if you experienced the weird look of the message board today. I'm tweaking out the permissions on the server in preparation for the club site's move in mid december.

Sorry again for the additional semi-functionality of the board today. All should be fixed now... if someone would be so kind as to check out an uploaded file and let me know if it works okay I'd be grateful. thanks.

...mutters something about UNIX permissions and 755 being what's needed, NOT 754. d'oh!

What the heck is what? The file I uploaded?

Let's see.... I'll decode part of it for you:

Sound Tribe Sector 9

12.28.01

Gothic Theater - Englewood, CO

This would be the name of a band, a date, and a venue. Hey, it looks like a concert!

Source: Front of Stage / Left of Center (on a stand)

Schoeps CMXY4v (approx 110 degrees and slightly tilted upwards from being level with the stage) ] Sonosax SX-M2 (lo gain setting, no bass rolloff) ] Apogee AD500e (@44.1 w/soft limit, no emph.) ] Sony D100 (via aes output ] spdif).

This appears to be a source lineage, with microphone positions, brand and model of mics, and the input and recording devices the sound passed through on its way to the DAT deck (the Sony D100).

Its probably some hippie band, you know... they are the only groups that allow, god forbid, their fans to record their concerts. :p

Actually, STS9 is a pretty talented group of people. This show in particular is pretty sweet.... If you're into that kind of thing.

Thanks, Mr. Wizard!  All seems fine now - at least on my Mac.

BTW, I was playing with DW for about 2 hours last night. I'm getting more familiar, so far. I'll try to save all my questions for one or two big Q&A sessions.  THANKS for DW - I think it will work quite nicely!
