So, since a player pack is a requirement of a B-tier, does that mean that they aren't taking walk-up registrations?

Last year I played Novice at the Homie.  There were 21 Novice players.  I just signed up. There is no Novice division.  MA3 for me.

The registration page had a drop down list and Novice was not an option. There was no comment section on the form. The flyer does not mention Novice.  In order to ask I guess I would contact Jay.  I have not done that.

I forgot that I had asked on the red roc site a few weeks ago. I love the response:
Jay September 15th, 2010 on 9:09 pm
No. Novice means you've never played in a tournament before. Recreational is almost the same thing but you have a touch more experience.

Mike, I don't see your name.  Are you going to Homie?  I plan to get to Lemon tomorrow to play red and white. Let me know if you will be there.

Well, it looks like I'll be at this tournament with the #1 amateur woman in the world.  And her mother.  50/50 chance I'll be playing.  If I'm ambulatory tomorrow, 75/25 chance I'm playing.

ANYWAY, looking for other things I noticed that I have a bunch of orange ESP Zones and exactly two Chicago Bears masks.  If anyone playing the Homie would like to pick up a Chicago Bears Zone, $12, but you gots to let me know tonight or tomorrow morning.

I know that I do not have any orange Buzzzes, so don't ask.  Other stuff, maybe yes, maybe no.  I'd go look for you.

Bruce can you please provide a condensed version of what happened after the tourney? I did not want to stick around for what was going to take place.

Thanks.

rec was done with their round by 4.  we should have been cashed out by 430.  It descended into chaos.  I know it's a lot to manage with that many players and that many people cashing, but I think there are steps they could take to make it less crazy.  Like properly marking the payout cards.  5 of us tied for 17th cash but the cards were listed 17, 18, 19 etc.  I have no idea if I got paid out the proper amount or not.  The guy running merch was completely spazzing and about to explode.  Luckily I knew what discs I wanted ahead of time so I could just grab and go.  It still took 10 minutes for someone to take my order.  gotta love it.

Hopefully the TD crew learned a couple lessons yesterday.  I also experienced the scenario of finishing in a tie.  They filled out little cards with dollar amounts for every position.  Apparently they didn't have a firm plan of how they would handle ties.  It was a bit of a debacle.  Cashing out after finally receiving my card was also a bit of a debacle and quite time consuming.

It was definitely a ton of players and they weren't really prepared to handle it (there were 220+ players last year so I'm not sure why they weren't prepared).  They certainly could have made things quite a bit easier by cashing out each division individually as they came off the course.  I played Intermediate and we were off the course around 330 pm.  Rec was done around 400 pm.  Advanced was more like 500pm.  Payouts could have conceivably been calculated and handed out for Int/Rec prior to preparing the boards for Adv/Pro.  This would have prevented the swarm of players that overwhelmed them after awards were completed.

Hopefully this gives people an appreciation for how some of our local TD's have run their events and gotten people on their way home in an efficient amount of time.  Its certainly not easy and I'm not blasting the Lemon Lake TD crew who tried their best in a difficult situation.  It would be great if they use it as a learning experience and come better prepared in 2011, so they do not end up losing players from this great event who don't want to get home so late on a Sunday night.  Finishing the tournament at 330pm and leaving the course at 630pm is not the greatest way to end the tourney (although I did get in 3 rounds of mini golf).

he's not bagging. let him play in 1 World Amateur Championship 1st. Practice more, maybe you could beat him then??

tired of hearing about this crap about him and Dave Nelson. If they won every tournament they played in, and blew away the field, then maybe, but that is not the case with either one of these guys. They both are just very good golfers, playing in the division they see themselves as being competitive in. I have beaten both of them this year, and I know I am not a bagger.
Dave N. is just playing some very good golf lately. Let him make the jump on his own. Don't discourage the guy!!!

Scores are up on pdga.com.  It looks like not all of the divisions have been properly pooled and assigned courses so ratings might not be correct.  Advanced Grandmaster scores are not correct.  I've e-mailed the TD about the MG1 scores.

Ratings look pretty close to reality to me.  And they appear to have been pooled correctly (e.g., a 50 in Open Rd 2 was not rated the same as a 50 in Adv Rd 2, same for Int/Rec.)  Good job by the Homie crew getting those up within 2 days of the event.

In the second round Silver and Blue are generating the same ratings for same scores.  It is possible that they happened to have the same SSA.  However, Red and White are also generating the same ratings for same scores.  It seems not possible that Red and White might have had the same SSA.
