We are going to run a 10 Week Winter League. It is upper and lower pool random draw doubles.
We are going to try to get more Chicago players to play so for the first three weeks the league will take place at Fink Park. If we do not get any attendance at this location we will go back and rotate between Bevier, Diamond Lake, and Grayslake. League will start at 10:00 AM Sharp on Sunday mornings. We are looking to bring new people into disc golf.
Schedule:
Jan 9 Fink Park
Jan 16 Fink Park
Jan 23 Fink Park
Jan 30 TBD
Feb 6 TBD
Feb 13 TBD
Feb 20 TBD
Feb 27 TBD
March 6 TBD
March 13 TBD
After the first 3 weeks, we will know if we can get some good attendance. If we do, we will stay at Fink, if not we will set up a rotating schedule and I will post the locations. I will be prompt in posting weekly and over all scores.
Any questions or comments please pm me.
Thanks.
Very cool, that should help me out a lot at least! Will you have tags and club memberships available for purchase Tom?

Yes. I will have tags with me. Hopefully we can get some new faces. Leagues are a great way to prep for tourneys.

Thanks John!. League this Sunday at 10:00 AM come out for some fun in the sun. Talks some Bears Packers smack. At least there will be one Packer fan on hand.
I hope to make it, had a family commitment last week.
If a lot of Packer fans make it out (I'm not one of them) and there's an equal number, it could be perversely amusing to make Bear/Packer teams instead of high/low....
Ace pool starts at $31.00. We tee off right around 10:00. Come on out, everyone is welcome. Should be a heatwave tomorrow compared to the last couple of days.
Six People today.

We will be out there Roman. Come on out for some fun times.
An inspection of last weeks league results shows an unlikely result - only over 50 year old ("Grandmaster") players showed up. This struck me as an unlikely outcome. But how unlikely? Say there is a pool of 24 players for league with each player having a probability of showing up for league of 40% (suggesting an average attendance of about 10 players). Now consider that there are 6 Grandmaster players in that pool. So the combined probability of 18 under 50 players not going and 6 over 50 players going to league last Sunday is something like one out of 2 million. If I change the probability of Tom McManus showing up for league to 100%, it is still about 1 in a million. The Bears should have been that lucky.

That is some funny stuff. We will try again tomorrow at Fink.
Week 4 Results:
1. Tom S/Jake J -1210 points each $22.50 each
2. Sang P/Ron H -9 8 points each Sang CTP $9.00
3. Alex B/Tom M -9 6 points each
4. Taylor C Cali -4 4 points.
5. Jonathan D/Brook C -4 2 points each
Thanks to Taylor for helping shovel the pads. Also had a new player today. Thanks for coming out Brook.
We will go again next week at Fink. Ace pool starts at $45.00 No cap on the ace pool. Week 4 results are attached below.
NOTE: These are corrected results. Thanks-
Hey Tom - I actually won the CTP for not last place against Jonathan as opposed to what you have above. Thanks
Anyone coming out this week?
Fighting off a cold...won't be doing Channahon tomorrow to get better. Hope to do Winter League at Fink but I'll have to wait and see. I'll let you know asap. Condition report?
I'll be in Orlando, so sadly I won't be able to join you and the two feet of snow. I might get a nice 70 degree round in down there though.
But I'll see all of the Illinois players that make their way over for Cracked Plastic the week after.

Won't be at league this week.
Ron
Tom my tentative plan is to come out on Sunday but I am playing the ice bowl tomorrow and if I'm super tired from that, probably wouldn't make it out. I won't be heartbroken if you cancel this week of league.
Tom : I'm still out :(
John C.
Okay, Tom, I won't be making it to Fink tomorrow if you're still going. Giving myself one more day of rest from a cold. Wished I coulda been up for Channahon today. Have fun wherever! ~Jake
I can't make it either.
10a at Fink tomorrow? or is it 9a?
U guys r crazy.
How long did it take to play?
How many lost discs?

You might change that to you are crazy. No one else showed up. I shoveled for about an hour and a half and got 4 tees. The snow is over 3 feet in some spots and a minimum of 30 inches around most of the tees.
League is canceled next week.
Tom, you amaze me! I guess I actually may have been crazy enough too if I had been back to 100%. Still thinking of joining the Cracked Plastic...
Have a great week!
Tom congrats on your second league victory of the 2011 league season.

Tom congrats on your second league victory of the 2011 league season.
I would have given myself the win if I had actually thrown a disc. I shoveled for about an hour and a half and that was all the exercise that I got.
Tom, thanks anyhow, although nobody (including me) showed up to appreciate it.
The real downside is the fact that Fink is pretty flooded after the spring thaw even after a normal winter. I don't see the course being playable til sometime in May once all this snow melts - although it should be OK for awhile if there's still a snow cover.
I toss this out since I remember some talk about a club event or something there sometime in April....?
Damon's right. I remember last year. Fink is a total wetland with foot deep water after the snow melts.
No league this week. We will go again next week at Fink.
Have fun in Kzoo Tom, and Taylor, oh, and John and anybody else doing Cracked Plastic. Unfortunately I've got to head back east to visit my ailing dad...So I won't be at Fink next week either. Good luck out there and see you on the rebound.
Tom, just a heads up Doug and I went to Fink today and cleared the rest of the tees. Not sure how much of the snow is going to be left by next weekend, but you don't have to worry about shoveling the tees.

Thanks Roman. We will have league out there next week. Hopefully it won't be too sloppy.
I'm hoping to play in Columbia MO this weekend w/ my son, but maybe I'll see 'everyone' on the 27th.
It is a go this Sunday at Fink. If anyone heads out that way later in the week hopefully they can post the conditions here.
I'll try to check it out. There was quite a bit of water in spots yesterday, with plenty of snow still to melt.

Thanks for the update John. League this Sunday at 10:00 AM.
Sounds like it dried out a bit. That's good news. I was there yesterday and the entire left side of 9 fairway was a lake. The basket was surrounded by water, as was the basket for 4.
League is tommorow at 10:00 AM. 80% chance of freezing rain. 100% chance that I will be there.
I was out there at about 1:00 PM today and there wasn't any water around #9's basket.
Was all geared and ready to drive up to Fink when it started downpouring this morning. Not sure if league is still happening, but its not quite worth the drive out of the city to play in a swamp. Also, do we play the course twice over or is it just a 9 hole thing? I'll definitely be out there next sunday weather permitting!
It is wet out there. It is by no means a swamp. It did rain the entire time. No one else showed up today. We play two rounds of nine holes. It is $8.00 to play. $5.00 goes into weekly prize fund, $1.00 for the ace fund. $1.00 for the prize fund, and $1.00 for CTP. If you want to play the cheapest it can be is $1.00. We will try again next week.
League this Sunday at Fink. Tee off at 10:00 AM. Hopefully we can some players to come out and play.
I'm planning on coming, assuming the weather is OK.
League is tomorrow. Hopefully the weather will not keep anyone away that is planning on attending.

2. Taylor C Cali -8 8 points $7.00 CTP
3. Tom M/Ron H -6 6 points each
4. Doug B/ Dave B -6 4 points each
We will go again at Fink Park at 10:00 AM next Sunday.
Overall results are attached.

Tom - Thanks for running the 2011 Winter league.
Yes, thank a lot Tom! It was fun. I'm glad that although you got to see me miss the occasional short one, you got to see me putt some long ones as well. See you when I can and thanks again! ~Jake

Will there be a fall 2011 Discontinuum league?
Yes. The plan is to get something going after the Homie.
Anything happening with league?
Is there any Sunday league action? It does not look like Discontinuun has anything going.
What about Silver Lake?
Steve Mullens is running the Silver lake league. The first round starts at 10:00am and the second starts at 2:00pm.
This league runs all year long.
