Currently hammering out the final details, but here's what I know:
At Pine Hills Golf Course in Ottawa, IL
We will use CARTS
Field is limited to 60 total: Pro -20, Adv- 20, INT- 20
Registration and other info will be out soon!
Any idea how much this will cost to play?
(I'm pretty sure) AM's will be $45, which includes the $15 green/cart fee
Isn't this the same date as the multi-club challenge?
Edit: The date of the multi-club challenge has been moved to avoid this event.
Hadn't seen anything on that date, didn't think Brett said anything when we discussed it either.
Where can I find info on the multi club challenge?

I hear Rockford.
The date is March 26 at Anna Page Park. We just received confirmation from GRABM that they gave us permission to hold the event out there. I had talked to reps from Streamwood, Fox Valley, Rockford, and Joliet about this date. I hadn't posted anything official until we had heard from Rockford. I didn't want to bounce around like we did last year.
Well dang.
Sounds Sweet!
Bring the golf carts to Rockford! Yaaay!!!

Well dang.
Says on the GRABM forum that it was moved to the 27th Dana. So please keep preaching about Golf Carts and Disc Golf. Tourney sound like a blast.
The Club Challenge is going to be March 27 at Anna Page Park in Rockford. Streamwood, Rockford, Joliet, Fox Valley and Discontiuum are the invited clubs.
Dana, can I mail you a check to hold a spot for the Am field?
Planing on opening reg online Monday at noon.
A huge thanks goes to Tom McManus for bumping his event to sunday. Ottawa is an hour and some change from Rockford so for those wanting to do both it won't be to tough. I'll see about getting a discount at a hotel right next to rt 80.
I hope have all info up tonite.
Nice this sounds like it will be a fun event to start the year off with. let me know if you need any help dana

Just got back from the course and WOW. You guys are in for a a fun and challenging day.
My two favorite holes are the par 6 #4 (or 5) and the par 3 #17( or 18). I am very excited. Looking at par being around 64-66. There are are variety fun holes, many of which you don't have to crush to birdie. Water will come in to play on 1-2 holes. There are some fast greens and slight elevation changes out there. And of course there are a couple chances to let loose and grip and rip.
The par 6 is a thing of beauty. For RHBH throwers, the tee shot is pretty dangerous. It definitely favors a lefty from the tee. You need to navigate your shot to the left of the huge oak tree that is a mando. Don't go too far left cause there is an ob fence lining the whole hole. The 2nd shot favors a righty with the hole dog legging left. From there you work your way up a slight hill and then down and finally on the top of the hill at just about the highest point on the course. All the while navigating mature trees on your right and a wall of trees 40 ft thick on your left. PS- there is a golf green to the right of the basket, so dont miss right. Oh and don't miss left cause that thick wall of trees is gone and there is an ob fence line.
I am counting down the days! Cannot wait!
Lets pray for a dry march so we can have 100 % access with the carts. If its too sloppy, carts may be out of the question.
Tee pads will be a variety of cement, natural and hopefully rubber.
are cleats allowed Dana?
Looking to get ahold of PAT BARRETT. Come on down! You're the next contestant on the Price Is Right! Actually.. no, but you do get to take a spot in the tournament! If you have Pat's email or can help me get in contact with him, I'd appreciate it :)
Hoping to have the course set up friday afternoon for play!
The baskets are in and we are waiting on the Innova disc order.
I have 25 FLAT FLAT FLAT GLOW CHAMP FIREBIRDS with a custom stamp for $20 and 25 custom stamped ECHO DESTROYERS ordered. We will also have a small stock selection of Innova and VIbram.
I'll ask about the cleats. We will be using a few different surfaces (cement, rubber and natural) so you may not want to wear cleats...Im going to the course sometime this week so I'll get the low down. If I get some nice weather, I'll take some pictures as well!
Thanks for all the hard work Dana. I don't think a lot of people understand how much work it takes to set up and take down a temporary course.
Might be able to set the course up earlier in the week. There may be a few holes that will be different than in the tournament, cause the course will be open to golfers. This is good because it will allow me to test out the holes a lilttle more prior to the competition.
I really think that this course could host a LARGE scale event. We will see how it goes here in a few weeks and maybe start planning something big for 2012...
Agree. Thank You Dana! Looking forward to this one.
Update: Innova sent the baskets last week, but screwed the order up and did not send the portable bases.
We did recieve our Innova order and we have CFR Glow Firebirds that are FLATTER than FLAT. These are easily the most oerstable Firebirds I've ever thrown. These are $20 a piece. They have a "Pine Hills" stamp on them and you can reserve one now and pay/pick it up at the event. We also have custom stamped Echo Destroyers, these are $16.
Directions to Pine Hills Golf Course-
Pine Hills Golf Course- 1665 N 2501st Rd
From 80, take exit 90 (rt 23) South. Go south all the way through town, over the Illinois River and then past Kroger (on your left). You are now heading into the country. On your right, a few miles past the Kroger, you will see a sign for the golf course. Go right (this is N 2501 rd) and then its about a half mile on your right. You will take a few curves and then see the course on your right.
When you get off 80, you have a good 10-15 minutes till you get to the course.
Put me down for one of those Firebirds Dana. Thanks.
Check my facebook for pictures of the Par 6 at Pine Hills. I uploaded 6 pictures today. If someone wants to post here, go for it.

Great googley moogley!!!
I just love Dana's course designs.
Put me down for one of each on the custom discs, please Dana. Thank you.
Hey Dana - if we don't have the option of using carts, will less money be taken out for the course usage fees then? Not too worried about it, just a thought I had after reading some of the commentary.
Looking forward to it!
Good question Taylor- There will be no partial refund on the course fees if we can't use carts. We got a pretty good deal from Pine Hills, where they were pretty much letting us use the carts for 'renting' the course.
FWIIW--A walking round of 9 holes of golf at Pine Hills costs $15.
Course does look amazing. Also looks like the weather is picking up pretty swell like.. Thanks for the great work Dana.
How is the cart usage looking?
hopefully good. walking this monster twice will not be fun
made a few tweeks and dropped par to 63 (i think). lost the par 5 #3. also changed 2 holes from 4s to 3s.
longest hole is 1236 ft, par 6. I 5'd it yesterday, threw a buzzz twice, destroyer twice and a drop in putt. it felt good. i almost made the hole harder cause it felt too easy.
shortest is 237
5 holes under 300
6 holes 300-500
7 holes over 500
just played the course in steady 25 mph winds with some nasty gusts....yikes.
my thoughts-
hole 1 needs to be lengthened par 4
hole 2 tricky shot, favors righty
hole 3 neat looking teeshot, framed up by newly planted pines. par 4
hole 4 sweet shot with creek on left and behind basket. favors lefty
hole 5 par 6, disgusting.
hole 6 multiple route shorty, like 270 downhill, plays shorter than that
hole 7 basket on stump, another 270ish and downhill. favors lefty
hole 8 tough par 4. cant see basket from tee
hole 9 basket in sand trap (sand trap on this hole is in bounds). right next to golf green, big drop off. good elevation.
front 9 par- 33
hole 10 nice par 3, can get in trouble if you come up short right. favors lefty
hole 11 short, low ceiling par 3. drop off deep of basket
hole 12 350ish par 3, nice looking shot
hole 13 basket in sand trap, sand traps on this hole are in bounds. basket right behind green. tough par 4
hole 14 straight shot par 3, elevation change. basket on small mound. there is a tight righty hyzer line
hole 15 grip and trip tee shot, basket near small pond and green. par 4
hole 16 might push 16 back into a beautiful par 4. right now, its a pretty nice looking par 3.
hole 17 = great risk reward. very fun hole. need to be able to throw about 315-330 to clear the creek.
hole 18 tight tee shot, technical par 4
back 9 par- 30 or 31
course par 63 or 64
wish there was a par 5 out there.
Hump Day! We're almost there!
No rain in forecast now! The sun might even come out Saturday.

I can't wait to play this course tomorrow!!!
Please done wear muddy/dirty shoes into the new clubhouse. Also please dont use illegal drugs, you will be DQ'd.
Tomorrow is going to be awesome. Lets show Ottawa and Pine Hills what disc golf is about. The better things go tomorrow, the better the chances are we can do more events in the future.
Just a annual event would be a good goal. Would be really cool to know we could do this every year! Thanks Dana!
this should be the kind of course you play for the USDGC spot every year (sorry i mean every other year) :-\ . its difficult and has lots of OB. thats a good test for whoever wins of their ability to play through that. a high par as well. anyway just an idea if all goes well. have fun guys
awesome setup Dana. and nice of you to push the wind button this morning.
I would come to this event everytime it was ran. You have an amazing eye when it comes to designing holes. Today and the GPO 2009 at Eureka the holes were well thought up. 100% A+ is your grade.
Scores will be up tomorrow. Thanks to everyone that came out. I've already got a new project in tge works in ottawa..keep an eye out
Mcnaughton open up next
what did the golf course managers think ?

ratings seem low?
Thanks again for all your hard work Dana. I'll echo everyone else that this was a great course setup and immediately goes into my top 10 courses that I've played. I thought every hole was fun and offered a different challenge (except 3, which killed me with 6's both rounds).
I really hope this can become an annual event and that the experience was positive for the golf course.
Ratings seem a little low, but that might be due to the higher par, with each stroke accounting for fewer ratings points. Just a guess.
was there that much change in the weather for the 2nd round? Herrens 60 in round 1 was 1006, but in round 2 that 60 was just 997?? I know the wind didn't let up that much, if at all for the 2nd round. It was actually blowing harder on #5 in round 2 than it was in round 1. wierd however the ratings are figured. but I will take that 997. maybe when ratings are official, it will be at least a 1000 rated round?
As the day warms up and people learn from their mistakes. It is not unusual for ratings to be lower second round. With a difference of less than 10 rating points, the SSA for the two rounds will be averaged together and the rating for R1 will be the same as R2.
A nice article was published in the local Ottawa newspaper as well. Link below and props to Dana for inviting the newspaper out for the day to get the coverage.

plus, during the second round a 56 (1029) was shot by Al (rated 984). my guess would be that this and what krupika said might be your answer.
Having a higher SSA will definitely not result in a lower average round rating amongst the group. However, I do think it results in a lower range (highest to lowest rating), which may explain why some of you perceive the ratings as being low (you are focusing on the best rounds, not the worst rounds).
did i win
almost.
hope you feel better for Bowling Green. or was it too much alcohol Friday before the tourny? ;D
