just sent payment thru Paypal Mike. thanks for running this event!
I appreciate the pre-registration. It makes things run smoother for everyone. I'll update the PDGA pre-reg list tomorrow.
i heard that the longs are getting cement? will these be complete u thnk by tourny time?
Unfortunately since the spring has been extremely wet, there has been no way to get a truck in yet. The longs will be poured after the tournament. I'm bummed, but there's not much that can be done about that. Fortunately, the compacted stone that is in place for the longs is in really good shape.
Mike. which 2 alt holes will be played? I have played the 2 across the bridge by the parking lot.
and I have played the other 2(13A hyzer by road) and the 1 to the practice basket by hole #1's tee pad.
Thanks.
From my discussions with Mike, it appears he is going to have the same layout as last year's Oswego Open with the 13A hole and to the practice basket hole. I believe the OB on 15 will be there again this year as well.
Aaron is correct, the layout will be the same as last year. If anyone chooses to practice either of the temp holes, please, please use a spotter to make sure that no one using the walking path is injured.
$189 in the Ace Fund is rolling over from IOS #1 to Saturday of IOS #2!!
Does the junior division play 1rd short & !rd long? I have a 12 yr old that would like to play, but the long tees are a bit too much for him.
We have all divisions play the same layouts. There are a couple of reasons for this:
a) If the juniors play a different layout, then they will not receive a PDGA rating for that round.
b) Occasionally we need to mix divisions on a card simply due to numbers in some of the smaller divisions. If a subset of a group needs to play from a different tee that would be confusing.
c) hole 5. It would be difficult from a flow perspective if some groups were playing from the short and some from the long seeing that you can't see if anyone is on the other tee.
You know your son best, but I think he can handle the longs if he plays smart and understands that not every hole needs to be knocked out with a three or four.
Dylan Hill (age 11) took on Channahon over the weekend from the shorts and longs and he was up to the challenge. I think your 12 year old could be up to the task of Oswego longs!
i need to finish up the trophies so that they have time to cure. I have made trophies for the following divisions. If you are planning on playing in the Oswego Open in a division not listed, then get your pre-registration in so I can make sure I have the trophy done before the tournament.
I have trophies for:
Open
Advanced
Intermediate
Recreational
Novice
Adv GM
Adv Women
Juniors
I had to give Dylan a high five for coming out and playing. Made me smile to see a young blood get his tourney's in.
You think if you had a pre register CTP or something like that, you would get more people to do so? Just an idear.
Had a blast at IOS #1... Cannot wait for Oswego!
Looking forward to this event. Eagle Ridge is a fun course and Mike does a good job with keeping everything moving.
Trophies are drying...
Are Discontinuum tags gonna be up for Sundays tourney? I wanna bagtag challenge this tag. Can't believe we didn't have that at IOS#1! thought that was kinda lame.

It's lame but just like anything else in disc golf you need volunteers to make things happen.
I will run tags on Sunday and have tags for sale.
Thanks for bringing them, Tom! I'll have to make sure I get mine :)
I will get mine then as well. Thanks Tom!

I don't recall the number but think its 14- about 375 from the longs with prairie grass right in front of the long tee. Its the first one out of the woods. You had lots of rope marking o/b including that prairie grass. Will there be a drop zone or wil there be an opportunity for me to do another Tin Cup routine?
#15
The OB on #15 will be the same as last year. New for this year, the short tee will be an optional drop zone for those that may need it if they go OB on 15 Long.
wow. that's kind of neat. I threw OB off both tee pads last year. damn Beast wouldn't come back for some reason??
might just throw a Roc from the longs. I know I can get one of those in the fairway. The short tee on the other hand, is gettin parked!
See ya guys on Sunday. And good luck to Saturdays participants.
Scott, what is the ace pool starting at for Saturday?

$189 in the Ace Fund is rolling over from IOS #1 to Saturday of IOS #2!!
New Innova and Discraft product will be available for the tournament. I have Innova dry-fit shirts and polos (shirts from S-XXL, polos from M-XL). I also picked up all of the new discs, including some Champion Roc Plus. I have 40 stock stamp Champion Ape's, 40 stock stamp Star Archon's, so there should be plenty for all. And for those select few that were craving this - yes, I have DX Classic Roc's :)
The Discraft order arrived today, so I haven't had a chance to see if they sent everything I ordered. IF everything has arrived, I'll have Z-Buzzz SS, a couple Glo Buzzz, FLX Drones, and Z Wasps as highlights to the order!
will you have the Star Stamped Apes, or just the Champion Stamp?
and how much for Polos XL, and the dry-fit shirt XL?
Couldn't find online pre-reg cutoff time in the thread, any idea when that will end? I want to play Saturday, but the forecast looks better for Sunday at the moment so may opt for that closer to deadline.
I think I have it posted somewhere as noon tomorrow. It will be whatever time I get home from running the putting circle over at my daughters' school tomorrow for their outdoor games (probably 3ish).
The cut-off for prereg is posted here: http://krupicka.org/ios/event-2011-oswegoopen
Fox Valley Metro has the course ready and waiting for you. Eagle Ridge is in great shape for this tourney. Circles are painted and fairways are mowed. Ace pot is huge from carry over from IOS#1! Come and get it!
stock stamps on everything, Doug, sorry - Innova was already sold out of the first run stamped stuff by the time I ordered. I still have first run stamped R-Pro Wahoo's though.
ok thanks Scott.
OK Doug, looks like I'm coming for you on Sunday!
like I always tell my son in the driveway playing hoops, bring it, dont sing it young man! ;)

Both days are going to be better weather than IOS #1!
just for shits & giggles, nothing against anyone in that division, but I am taking a stab at guessing the winner of the Intermediate Division........ John Osborne. dude can putt!
I didn't get a chance to preregister for Sunday. Can I reserve a spot somehow? I'm worried I'll get there and all the spots will fill up. Or should I stop by tomorrow afternoon and register then to secure a spot?
Online pre-registration is closed. Sunday is going to be a perfect day for playing. I'd recommend registering tomorrow if possible to reserve a spot.
Didnt get a chance to pre reg :( there enough room in Rec Mike? Ill be there super early to register too
There's room. Registration from 7:30-8:30am
he was in it after the 1st round anyway. get em next time John!
Did it rain at all?
We briefly cleared the course near the end due to lightening that was a little too close for comfort.
btw. Results are posted. http://www.pdga.com/tournament_results/66588

WTG Mike. Great day today. Course was in awesome shape and looked very good. Great job and thanks to Mike, Jon, Pitner, and all the other helpers. The frozen lemonade was great girls! Can't wait for the next tournament here. I love that course. TOP 10 for sure.
Nice Ace Kenny G!
Thanks Tom McManus for doing bag tags. got rid of #93 for #29. pretty good day.
Thanks for everyone how came out and played. I'm beat, but I still need to finish the reports to get them in for the next ratings update.
Scores are posted: http://www.pdga.com/tournament_results/66676
Dang 40 point rating difference for the same score from the shorts from sat to sun.
yea, they seem very low for today
The PDGA should combine the days when they do official ratings, so you'll get an average that's weighted towards the larger attendance day.

Which was today :P
Had a blast both days! Thanks again IOS crew.
:D I had a super-fun blast yesterday! Congrats and thanks to all the people who made this tourney possible. As a non-volunteering player, I really appreciate the hard work you and your clubs put in to make these courses great. You all deserve a round of applause for spoiling me to be able to get out of the city and have wonderful disc golfing experiences.
Randy, you are a beast; congrats. I really enjoy playing with you. Sorry I faltered so much the 2nd round (I suck). Still had an enjoyable time...and I loved my first round so much I didn't really care! Oh well, next time! Thanks again to all. ~Jake ;D

I was nott there Sunday but have to figure that the condtions were quitte different. Sunday was generally a beautiful and mild day around the area. On Saturday there was fair but not extreme wind all day. There was fair heat ithe morning and extreme heat and humidity in the afternoon. It was very difficult in the afternoon. However, it sure did not effect Al Hermosillo who shot lights out in the second round. He knew he had it going. I saw his group tee off on their last hole. The lightening was coming and rain had just started.Al was eager to finish before Krupicka wisely blew the airhorn about 5 minutes later. He was imploring his group to tee off and total the scores thereafter. I was so dehydrated and low sugar after round 2 that I drank my first Coke in about 7 years after leaving the park.
I took some HDR (high dynamic range) pictures at the course this weekend. I thought this picture of hole 19's basket turned out nice. I also took some regular pics that I'll be posting this week.
Yeah, Sunday conditions were WAY better than Saturday. On Saturday there was definitely enough wind out there to make you think about your shots, the heat and humidity were awful and only got worse before the thunderstorm rolled on during the second round. After the storm it wasn't too bad other than the wet ground.
Aside from the rain, the heat/humidity reminded me a lot of day 2 at the A-tier at lemon lake last year. I know there were several people that were complaining about feeling light headed or like they were going to black out towards round two. I was going through Gatorade like crazy.
Some pics from Saturday...

If you right click this picture and select open link in new tab, you'll see an animated gif of Mike's putt.
Good pics Jon and thanks for taking those. And Jake, I'm sure you will be back and always fun on the same card with you and everyone else in the Bad Old Man Division! Hope to see everyone in Sterling. Made my reservations today.
wait...did you just call me a "bald old man!" Ahhhh, should've seen me in the 70s....gonna try to make Sterling if I can. O0
I hope that everyone that came out enjoyed the course and the event. The park district and Fox Valley Metro Disc Golf Club did a fine job at getting the course ready and looking good for the event. Special thanks To Blaine Schepp, Frank Grimes, Kyle Chapman, Kevin Fabre, and Sr for work done the last couple of days before hand. Support your local club. Without these clubs, some of these events just couldn't happen. Tom McManus trucked the Discontinuum fly pads down for the event. We appreciate the support that you and the Discontinuum club give us Tom.
Jon and Becky Brakel came out both days to help in the TD tent. I know these are familiar faces to many of you, but don't take them for granted. They keep things working smoothly. Thanks you two.
Scott, thanks from bringing out all of the plastic and other goodies for the event. Can't do this without you.
The TD reports have been submitted and the PDGA has been paid. The results will be in the next ratings update.
See you all in Sinnissippi at the end of July.
Thanks Mike for being a great TD! The IOS is lucky to have you as part of our team. Those trophies are awesome and I know you spend a lot of time making the Oswego Open a good time for everyone!!!
I have a couple of unclaimed discs from this past weekend. For some of these I don't have contact info. So if you want your disc back, please send me a PM.
