At about 1:30PM, same location - Pizza Hut on the corner of Lewis and Sunset in Waukegan.
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend, however I wish to convey my agreement of sponsoring a hole at the Dretzka Ice Bowl.
Jim - what other agenda items are there?
wait, there's a bridge at token creek? what crack was I smoking to miss it?!
not bad, not bad.... extra space on the sides for john q public to add their own notices (and graffiti, unfortunately...).
I'd recommend some type of graffiti-resistant window for the secured portions....
Probably impeachment. :-)
Agenda items will include SPONSORSHIP, 3 Bevier baskets, chain upgrades, League payouts, sponsoring the Milwaukee Ice Bowl, a possible PDGA event at Round Lake, and more.
Brett, Jon Brakel, Bruce Brakel (brother of Jon, new club member, leader in Upper Pool Safari Series points, and Michigan's PDGA State Coordinator), Damon Short (new club member as of yesterday), Jason Hany, Jeff Kirkton, Jay Nierodzik, and myself were there today, and we accomplished a lot.
I think Jay will give a detailed post, so I'll just hit some highlights.
We are very close to attaining a lucrative Pizza Hut sponsorship. Jeff has been the mover/shaker/contact man and is doing a fine job! More to come as it happens....
Our ICE BOWL (the Fun One) is on schedule. Merchandise is in and we are ready to rock.
Possible PDGA event at Fairfield: we are moving forward and will be doing a volunteer Fairfield Cleanup Day on Saturday, February 22nd (tentative) to show the RLPD we really want to use and improve Fairfield. Brett and Jon will be contacts to RLPD and are setting up a meeting between club members and RLPD for next month.
Bevier Park cleanup is scheduled for Sunday, February 16th after Best Shot Leagues (week 7).
Jay will post the rest soon. THANKS to everyone who showed up - and thanks to Jay for taking notes!
Excellent and thanks, Jay!
I just spoke with Uncle Joe Weinshel in Milwaukee. He's very excited to have us sponsoring a hole in at the Dretzka Ice Bowl. I'll be driving up early Saturday morning to drop off the sign & flyers and to take some pics of the pros!
The bridge in question is the proposed means of crossing the creek after the new Hole C to get to the 9th tee at Bevier. The Waukegan Park District said they'd consider building it or needing to approve one if we built it.
Shawn, let me know if you want me to get design plans or if you can make one generally like the one at Token Creek (or smaller). I'll see if I can get you something visual. THANKS!
Sorry, I skipped to talking about the bulletin board again. Attached is my idea of what it might look like. If a small "roof" can be added to help keep off rain, that would be cool. I have tons of shingles if needed.
Talked to Rick today and he said they were probably in queue to be stamped within the next two weeks. So we should get them before the end of Feb fer sher.
that is a good idea jay. 1st priority bulletin board, 2nd priority bridge. i'll see what i can do.
sweet :) i'll have those bookmarks done this week :p
what a great year so far, let's keep it rolling :-)
Sounds like some great ideas, I will build the bulletin board as long as we have the materials. I have not heard of the Bridge problem, can I offer my expertise here as well?
Here is a full recap of the meeting in doc format.
Brett and Jim(and others too:-)) ]] In addition to the Home Depot Bulletin Board idea, hoe bout seeing if they could provide assistance with our bridge problem??
Well I would think we would love your help with the bridge problem Shawn! The Park District might be building one for us, but if not were going to need it and well, I have no idea how to build a bridge and frankly your the professional :-)
/me nods in agreement
Cork board or something along the sides might be nice, for people to tack up something themselves, then leave the locked portion for club stuff, but just a thought
Jim,
Just wondering if you know when club stam discs are going to be in.
