out of curiosity, how come no crystal lake tourn on the 19th now? there were quite a few people looking forward to it.

crystal lake park district is not easy to work with. It is a busy time for the soccer games and other acitvities at the park. Also, they wanted a fee for each player, witch isnt a problem but i would rather give the players the biggest payout possible.

i figured it was something lame like that. honestly im not surprised they hate on the DG thing so hard. chuckers have ripped off 2 more signs this year and some idiot with the handle Tripod (supposedly the retard who sells bowls out there) drew on the trash can lid by #3s tee a giant pot leaf and said "smoke weed...something...something..-Tripod". ugh.... anyone know what works well for taking something like that off? without bringing alot of attention to myself?

A can of appropriately colored spray paint. Just give it a new coat to make it look new.

My daughter Kiralyn observed the other day that if you wanted to do some really good vandalism, just wear an orange safety vest.  No one ever questions whether a guy in an orange safety vest has a right to be there doing what he is doing.  People don't even notice the guy in the orange safety vest.  It's like a big sign saying, "Nothing to see here.  Just some guy watching some other guy doing his job."

I've got a few questions, Matt.
On the on-line sign-up page it says, "Online registration for this event will open shortly... awaiting final approval from tournament director."  However all the boxes for sign-up are available, so I figured I'd try to sign up anyway.  Then when I got to my division, it lists Adv. men as being $45!  Whoa.  What's going on with this?  Am I going to be able to pre-reg?  I'd like to.
My second question is which tees are we going to be playing?
Thanks.  It's always good to see a new player get in the game of running events.

That would be the mids (whites) at Highland, yes?  Shorts are the reds and I've never played them.
And I see now that PDGA members get a $10 discount, so the reg. cost would be $35 as it should be.  Still not open, though.

when I asked Matt about this, he said shorts at both?  we played shorts last year for round #2 of Illinois St. at highland, and they were white if my memory is correct?

At Illinois State last year we played red tees the second round, which few of us had played before.  The whites are the main/mid ones.
One or two red tees at highland are harder than the white ones.

Also, it says "Online registration for this event will open shortly... awaiting final approval from tournament director" for me too.  When will it open?

At Il States last year, Pro/Adv. played blue/white, long/mid.
I would assume Matt meant mids/white as they are the concrete ones.
I guess if we're going off the reds, I'll be playing blind.  But, I hope not.

Sorry about the confusion. The tees will be regular for both courses, Im not sure what each person calls them. The pdga has been operating very poorly this year. I have confirmed the pre reg twice now. I will have to call them in the morning. Any further questions please post up here and I will be glad to answer them.
Hope to see everyone sat.

I hope to make it out to J-town leagues tomorrow, but if not;
Tafe Hemler, 19740, Adv.
BTW, The tees should be (if I understand you) shorts @ West, Mids (whites/all concrete) @ Highland.

Matt,

Since the PDGA registration site is still awaiting your approval can you count this as our pre-registration?

Do you still get the players pack if you show up and register?  What about prizes for the first places of the divisions?
Title: Re: Warped Disc Golf Tourney June 18th
Post by: OvEr HaNd AsSaSiN on June 16, 2011, 11:37:27 PM
Yes all ams will recieve a players pack. First and second place in each division will get a trophy and funny money used to purchase discs. The exact payout for each place can not be determined till we know how many players are in each division.  But I can promise, you will not be dissapointed. Warped Disc Golf consists of AM players, so we know how players feel about the payouts.  Also we will be doing a raffle, we will be giving away two traveler baskets and discs. Everyone that is in the tourney will recieve a ticket for free. You may purchase more tickets for $2 a piece or 3 for 5.
Hope to see everyone sat. I will be out at west park tommorrow around 5 P.M. to check the course before tournament play begins in the morning.  I may be moving a few tee pads or using long tee pads if there are muddy ones. All of this will be said in the players meeting before the tournament.
-Feel free to ask me questions Thanks, Matt Travis
