Effective Sunday, April 13th, I'll be stepping down as President of DISContinuum Disc Golf Club. I will still remain on the Board of Directors, ad infinitem. I will also still be heavily involved until new leadership is introduced to everyone (sponsors and park districts) and responsibilities are delegated.
Club officers will vote for a new President to serve out the remainder of my term, which ends December 31st, 2003, at the club meeting on April 13th.
I have no doubt that the club will grow larger and stronger each year and that the club members will play and promote disc golf with passion and integrity. The current Officers are capable, enthusiastic, and highly involved in the operations of the club. DISContinuum will retain the same focus of fun, education, and competition. I am sure that our club will continue to serve local disc golfers even better as more people become involved.
This has been a very difficult but necessary decision; I am at a point at which my family needs me around a lot more. Balancing disc golf, my job, kids, marriage, house, and ailing parents is a huge challenge. Giving up my responsibilities as President will allow me to focus more attention on the ones need it most (my wonderful family). And I am so thankful for the support my extended family of disc golfers has given me though this interesting time! You guys ROCK!
For now, I will still handle certain sponsor relationships, the installation of new Holes A, B, and C, Widdershins Open, and the finalization of our incorporation. I hope to attend monthly meetings and leagues as much as possible.
THANKS to ALL the members, sponsors, and friends who have been so patient with me as I have tried to create this organization. Your time, efforts, and generosity have molded this club into a shining example of local disc golf success! Thanks to each club officer who served over the past 2 years for your dedication and hard work! So many of you have stepped up, donated time, money, and sweat. We've played together, argued disc philosophy, and provided a great venue for local disc golf. THANK YOU! I must single out Rick Rothstein of discgolfworld.com, Mike Trigg of the Waukegan Park District, and Mike Barnett of sunkingdiscs.com, for believing in me and supporting our small band of radical enthusiasts since the beginning! Without your constant help, nothing we have done would have been possible!
These past few years have been so much FUN! I hope I have served you well and that you never lose the vision: DISC GOLF IS FUN!
Humbly yours,
Scooter
If you are an officer and cannot make the April 13th club meeting, please email the other officers and let them know (before April 13th) of your choice of new Prez. If there is no vote or if voting is inconclusive, Brett gets the job by default.
Tis a sad day for Discontinuum members. I think we all understand though, one person can juggle only so many things a once. And we all know how busy you have been lately. I dont know how we could ever replace your outgoing-ness. You are definatly one of the most bubbly guys I have ever met. And you really have done your share of things for the club, and for all of us as individuals. Heck, if you guys wernt all so cool, I never would have kept making the drive to come every week.
But things can and will go on, you have to take care of more important things. Contrary to popular belief, Disc Golf is not the most important thing in life. Just as long as you keep coming around and showing us your bubbly smile every once and a while. So in that: Take care of your family Jim, we all understand.
