Whoops. I need mail in registrations by July 28. Glad to see you'll be coming out for this event.
There was a large amount of downed trees at the park from the storm on Monday. While it has created quite the mess, the park district currently believes that everything will be cleared up in time for the tournament to still go on.
Get pre-registered so that we can help make the tournament process go more smoothly!
Pre-Register (http://store.discontinuum.org/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=8)
Online pre-registration closes at NOON on Friday July 29th. (We'll be out at the course and won't have net access). Since we are limiting the field to four-somes, there is a very good change that this event will fill. Please pre-register.
I exchanged e-mails with Tim from Fadegear and he said that the course is now completely playable. He said that one side of 15 still has downed trees but that the fairway up the middle was clear. Game on! Please pre-register!!!
They have done an amazing job clearing out everything. 15 looks like nothing happened and all holes are obstacle free...well at least the fallen trees... ;)
CHANGE IN PRE-REG CLOSING TIME: PRE-REG WILL CLOSE THURSDAY @ 10 PM. No one will be available to check to see if you signed up after that time. PLEASE PRE-REGISTER AS SOON AS YOU CAN. Thanks!
Will we be doing Discontinuum bag tags at this event?
registered with Paypal tonight. See ya on Sunday! can't wait
If someone wants to run tags, then by all means, we'll find a box or bucket or something in order to do tags. The problem is that we're already short-staffed to run this tournament, and it requires a dedicated person to get tags done. Feel free to step up, Sayer :) The toughest part is getting the new numbers sorted along with FINDING the club members to pick up their new tags. It's really difficult to do that when we're trying to do payouts and merch checkout.
pre-reg is updated on pdga.com through 7/24/2011. Looks like there's four more in the store that came in since yesterday. Keep the pre-reg coming!!!
Just registered for Saturday. Can not wait.
I can definitely give it a go if nobody else is going to do it.
Wish that I didn't have to miss this one. I love Sinnisippi!
I'll step up and do tags on Sunday. I'll also be running Fox Valley's tags as well that day.
PARKING: Space is going to be a little bit tight with parking this weekend as all of the downed tree stumps are piled in the middle of the parking lot stacked 15' high. It will not be cleared out until next week after they figure out how they can get a chipper in there to clear it all out.
From Tim at Fade Gear:There is parking mid-park and more at the west end. There is no longer any parking on the grass allowed.
There is also parking at Hoover Park (connected by walking trail to Sinnissippi) located about ¾ mile out Woodlawn Road. 5 minute walk from car to Pavilion.
Just so everyone knows there will be 6 temps for 2 rounds of 24. With the 4'some per hole limit that is a max of 96 players each day. Last year there were 95 players Saturday and 88 players on Sunday. Last year the Iowa State Championships was on the same weekend and it was an hour west of the Quad Cities. There is absolutely nothing going on this weekend in the region. I'd highly suggest getting your entry fee in and spread the word.
I will have a guy from Kewanee with me, and maybe 1 other from Pekin for Sunday.
Thanks Aaron for stepping up to do tags on Sunday! Make sure you bring an extra FVM tag for sale because I still haven't re-upped with the club.

Aaron, I will pitch in and help you with discontinuum's tags. I helped McManus at Oswego. Seeing that you are already doing FVM, I will be there for ya at the end to help with scores for sure. See ya Sunday.
Weather right now says no rain for Saturday or Sunday. Can't wait, going to be fun. Wondering what kind of pin positions we'll see. The course is almost completely different from the one I played every day 8+ years ago because of the slew of different (and much harder) pin positions that were put in on every hole. Seems like this course gets tougher every year. One thing I still love is that you get to bust out your driver early and often, and you don't typically have to spend much time looking for discs.
I updated pre-reg on pdga.com. Looks like there's a bunch more pre-reg that came in this morning that is not on there yet.

Will the temporary holes be roughly the same layout as last year?
same layout for temps, or as close as we can get it!
I have had more phone calls about this event than any IOS event in the last two years!!! There were about 20 people who signed up in the store today but I can't post them until they're processed. So I do think we're going to have a ton of people there and the best weather for Sinnissippi than we've ever had. See you all there!
Got the latest update on pdga.com. Keep those pre-regs pouring in!!!
Just a heads up to everyone - Tim from Fade Gear will not be out grilling up food for everyone this year. He's busy over at his store - Air Play Sports! There's a chance that will still have a food vendor, but because a large majority of the pre-registration waited until this week to come in, there's no guarantee. There are a lot of food options out along 4th street in case there is no food vendor.
Online registration closes at 10pm tonight (Thursday 7-28) since the IOS team will be on the road to Sterling Friday. IOS staff will be collecting entry fees at the course Friday but i'm not sure what times. $5 walk up fee on Saturday & Sunday.
In. Will be out there Friday afternoon.
You guys have enough (GOOD) temp baskets?

Yes, I know 4 of them are ChainStars. I don't remember what the other two are.

I am not sure what alot is, but anyone who has registered through the club store is on the pdga website.
nah, this was last I had looked only 32 were on sunday and 35 for sat, its updated since I last looked.
I will be taking entry fee pre-reg for CHUCKFest 2011 on Sunday. There's another thread about the tourney on this site.
Just now wrapping up pricing on the new plastic that will be available for the weekend. 340+ new Innova and 75 new Gateway discs, including 50 Wizards in multiple flexes! Everything stock stamp, no tourney stamp this year, guys. Sorry, pre-reg was too low amongst some other reasons.
We have 50 people a day registered for the Sinnissippi Open. All mail-in and online registrations have been posted on pdga.com. I should be out at the course this afternoon if anyone else wants to register before the event. Thank you to everyone who did pre-register. It helps our tournaments run that much smoother when you do.
What time will you guys be out there today til? I'm headin down after work today, so i wanted to try and get things paid before tomorrow to make things easier. Thanks.
I should be out there by 3pm and should be there until at least 6.
Ok, hopefully I can get out there by then, otherwise I will probably just see ya bright and early tomorrow! Thanks Mike.
First round scores are up. Hopefully second round cards will be in an hour.

Thanks for putting on another great show, Krupicka/Pitner/Brakel. Course was awesome and the tourney was great. Congrats to Dana V. on the win. He's headed toward a bigtime rating at the next update based on the ratings I've seen him throw up in the last month. (1010?)
Final scores from Saturday are up and my 71st TD report has been submitted! ;D

Great tournament guys! The only complaint I had was the usage of the "f" word. Near the latter part of the course there was a picnic going on and I heard the "f" word used loudly and often, and heard it used around this picnic where there were kids. While some people may not think its a big deal, all it takes is one complaint to a park director and a course could be pulled. I'd just make sure to watch the language.
Sunday first round results are up.

Thanks again to the IOS and Sterling crews. I love Sinnissippi.
Thanks Dan- good shooting yesterday.
Awesome event guys. Thanks to all the staff for a great day of golf.
All results are up for the weekend...doing awards now. ;)
Hopefully we'll be on the road soon!!!

Hey Jon- the PDGA # for Sunday Rec player Justin Cutter is incorrect. It is supposed to be 49193 instead of 48193. It might change the ratings for everyone since their ratings are quite different (but he did play in the right division). Thanks!
Fun, tiring weekend. Thanks to my brother, Jeff, for learning my checkout system very quickly and was able to help with ringing up sales while I took a breather!
Thank You to all the IOS crew for a great weekend of Disc Golf. Mike, Jon, Becky, the Pitners, Steve, and anyone I missed. Tom McManus you are a Disc Golf contributor like no other. Thanks for setting up and tearing down the temp baskets and pads! Was also fun playing on your card. I'll never forget those birdies on 18! ;)
Randy, my card was on one of the temps, and we saw both of your birdies. AWESOME SHOTS. I especially like Tom's big fist pump. very exciting to see the great competition in the grandmasters division.
great event that always runs smoothly. Thanks to all the staff and for the cleanup crew. that place took a huge hit during that storm.
my day was piss poor. couldn't make that putt that is usually made from 20' 75 both rounds. not how your suppose to play after winning State :-[
always look forward to the next event with this crew. see ya in August
and thanks to Aaron for running tags.
I got to throw a few holes with Dana Friday when I was out getting the course setup. I can see why he took the win at this event. Great job Dana.
I think I finally got all of the post-tournament work done for this one. I need to improve a couple behind the scenes items to make it run smoother for me. Continuous improvement. Events like this are a lot of work. I appreciate all of the help (Tom, Brett, Dave, Dave, and Aaron) I had in setting up/taking down the temp holes and taking care of other little items that just make things run more smoothly.
I've gotten a couple of comments that people really like the hole changes between rounds. That was the work of some of the local players: Rod, Kris, and ... I actually have no idea who else helped here. It was something that I knew was going to happen, got done, and I didn't have to worry about it. Thanks guys! You have a beautiful course that I wish was about an hour closer to my house.
I appreciate the rest of the tournament staff (Jon, Becky, Scott, Maddisen). It is a team effort. Thanks for being part of the team.
Special thanks to our sponsors:
Discontinuum - $500, fly pads, temp baskets
Fade Gear - $200, four pairs of straps
ABC Discs - CTPs
A couple of other house keeping items.
There were a couple of three legged stools left behind by players. Send me a PM if you think it might be yours. StanK I have one of your discs.
Dag and Kris, we miscounted and you have a little more green coming to you for your 50/50 and Ace throws.
I'm already thinking about next year and how to improve things.
But until then, IOS #4 is next weekend (8/13-14) in Aurora. We'd love to see you all come out. Get your pre-reg in!
Mike- Thank you for all the hard work.
Huge thanks to Mike for running this tournament because if he didn't step up, I don't think the tournament would have happened!
