We are adding money and adding players everyday. I have also got about 15 discs donated - thanks to everyone who has pre-registered so far. We hope to have the added cash from sponsors up to $4500 by the time this is all said and done!

For a quick update on the tourney....we have added two more sponsors - Sleep Inn in Washington and Russell's Cycling in Washington. The latter sells discs and has a nice selection! Sleep Inn is also giving a deal on hotel rooms if you mention the disc golf tourney for Friday or Saturday night of the tournament. $69.99 for a regular room and $72.99 for a suite. The hotel is extremely nice and includes a business center, breakfast, pool, etc. Let me know if you need more information!

The players pack is also shaping up - the first 70 players that sign up now get a free pro-line disc of their choice (over 500 to choose from), an Innova towel, and an awesome-colored Discraft mini. Only for the first 70!

Also, the 50/50 raffle is starting to get very promising......we'll have three Innova baskets to give away (Mini, Traveler, and Sport). We'll also have some bags, shirts, caps, etc and a free night stay at the Sleep Inn in Washington to give away. It's shaping up nicely!

We have added a Grand Masters division for those between 50 and 59. Paypal should be updated shortly.

For a quick update: I have added a couple more sponsors. Johnnie Harrison donated a few discs in recognition for his tournament, the Morton Pumpkin Festival. Check it out and sign up! I will have a signup sheet for his tournament at my tournament.

Also, DG Apparel and my main man Steve-O are going to be sponsoring our event. DG Apparel has a revolutionary new product coming on the market called the Distance Doctor. This is a disc designed by DG Apparel and being molded by Dave with Gateway that helps train your distance. The Ledgestone Insurance Open is proud to annouce that we will be selling the first 30 ever to be produced! This disc had its debut at the Indiana State Championships and will be sold for the first time August 20th. Steve-O has also donated 5 of the discs, and so between the first and second round you'll get the chance to throw this prototype super heavy (275ish grams) disc for a fun little CTP contest. We'll give a couple away during the contest and we'll have 30 for sale!

I will also have 3 more sponsors to announce next week. Thanks to all the sponsors so far and don't forget to sign up early!

Wanted to give a quick update on the payouts for the divisions and the number of players signed up:

-I had four more people sign up today, and the first 70 to get a free disc, mini, and towel are filling up. Only about 30 spots remain for the free stuff so if you haven't signed up yet.....do it soon so  you can get the free stuff!
-I also wanted to clarify something about the payouts as I had a few people ask: I will be adding money (in the form of merchandise money) to other divisions besides Pro. While I have a lot of money added for the tournament, I wanted to take care of other divisions as well. While the Pro Division is getting a nice chunk of change (as evidenced by the guaranteed $475 in cash to the winner and the free merch money to those that don't place), I am also adding money to Advanced and Intermediate and a small amount to the Masters Divisions. Recreation will still be a nice field with some awesome prizes as well. The logic behind this is simply that I knew I couldn't get 100 pros to play my tournament, and I wanted to cater to other divisions because of my higher than average entry fees. So while Pro is certainly getting some nice money added, other divisions will have some added money payable in merchandise.
-I will post a list of the pre-registered players in the next few weeks. I have already posted a "Pro" pre-reg list.

I also wanted to remind everyone that the top advanced player will get at least $125 in cash and $125 in merch money. So far, only five advanced have signed up as a handful of upper players are making the job to Pro for this tournament (12 Pros signed up so far). So there could be an opportunity for someone there!

On the intermediate side, first prize is looking at least $100 in merchandise money plus a little goody.....As I have enticed the pros and advanced with extra merch money for those that don't place, I wanted to do something extra for the Intermediate players. Coop Records in East Peoria has added an extra $50 in gift cards to the tournament, so a big thanks to them! With that in mind, the top intermediate player will get an extra $30 in Coop Records gift certificates while the 2nd prize in intermediate will get an extra $20 in Coop Records gift certificates, on top of the actual prize money.

So don't wait to sign up! I should be able to announce four more sponsors this week!

I promised more sponsors....here are seven more, with two more being locked up this weekend:

Baymont Inn and Suites in Peoria
Embassy Suites in East Peoria
Metamora Fields Golf Course
Peoria Civic Center
Peoria Rivermen
Peoria Riverplex
Peoria Area Civic Chorale

Extra 50/50 goodies include the following: free night stay at Baymont Inn; Free night stay at the Embassy Suites; Two free rounds at Metamora Fields; 6 Peoria Rivermen Tickets; Two 4 day passes to the Riverplex in East Peoria; Civic Chorale CD's and ticket vouchers for the Christmas Concert

The tournament continues to fill up - I picked up 5 more players today and have about 10 people signing up Saturday at the Illinois State Championship. That will certainly push us over 60 players, and only the top 70 get the free stuff. If you want to get the free stuff sign up today or tomorrow!

Here is the paypal link: http://www.peoriafrisbeeclub.com/tournaments/ledgestone-insurance-open/ledgestone-preregistration/

Also, some of you have been asking about the premier of DG Apparel's newest product, the Distance Doctor. Here is some information straight from the owner:

1. Distance Doctor is a training device
2. WARNING do not just grip and rip this product

Picked up another sponsor here in Washington - Shandis Records sells discs and they are across the street from the Dairy Queen. Big thanks to them for coming on board as a sponsor! Also picked up Mikes Italian Feast as a sponsor for the event. Mike's is providing the awesome lunch for the tournament and is giving it to me at a great price, so any money made off of the lunch will go right back into the payout.

I was at the Illinois State Championships yesterday and I picked up some more players and the interest was very strong - there are only a handful more spots open to qualify for the free stuff. So get in today! The total purse of the event is going to eclipse $8000. You heard that right!

Here are all of the sponsors we have so far:
Ledgestone Insurance (call me for a quote!)
Erie Insurance
Matt Hoppock for Circuit Court Judge
Russells Cycling
Sleep Inn (Washington, IL - offering some nice hotel rates for the tourney)
Coop Records in East Peoria
Morton Pumpkin Festival Tournament (call Johnnie Harrison to sign up!)
DG Apparel/Distance Doctor
Shandis Records (Washington, IL)
The Riggsville (Washington, IL)
Vibram
Baymont Inn
Embassy Suites
Metamora Fields Golf Course
Peoria Civic Center
Peoria Rivermen
Peoria Riverplex
Peoria Area Civic Chorale
Mikes Italian Feast
Innova
Discraft
Squarecrow Creative Group (Graphic design company of Greg Nettles)

We are adding more everyday! Don't wait to sign up:

Quick Update on the tournament:

We still do have spots open. I talked to a lot of people at the Sterling tournament yesterday who thought the tourney was full. It's not! We still have spots open and in fact we do have a few spots left for the players packs. Three people signed up at the tournament yesterday and four more people signed up through paypal this morning. Its filling quickly so make sure to get signed up!

As more sponsor money has come in, the total purse for the tournament looks like it will exceed $8300. Can't complain about that! Also, to quell some confusion, pros in the field who are amongst the first 70 will get a players pack. In addition, the pros will have their own CTP's and will be eligible to win the Pot O Gold CTP, Closest to Pin on Second Shot for Hole 18, and the Long Drive Contest.

On another note, I will release a full pre-registered list next week.

Some of you have asked about the extra holes - they are completely finalized and I will try to release some pictures before the tournament. In a nutshell, one of the extra holes will be after hole 3 by the pavilion and will feature an island green that forces you to throw on the green with your drive or be out of bounds and have to shoot a 40 footer to get a circle 3. Duece or die hole! Another one of the extra holes will be a tight wooded hole after hole 9 in the 225 foot range. Finally, the last extra hole will go along the road after hole 17 and will once again be a duece or die hole. If you go past the basket you'll be in the creek or creek bed (both considered out of bounds) and have to put from the drop zone approximately 40 feet away from the basket for a circle 3. It will be about 275 feet straight downhill and will certainly test people to see whether they have the guts to go for it. So you heard it right - 3 extra holes will be in play!

Quick update on the payout as I currently see the fields shaking out:
Top Pro will get $550 cash
Second Pro will get $350 cash
Top Advanced will get $175 in merchandise money and $125 cash
Top Intermediate will get at least $150 in merchandise money

..and so on. These could change slightly if I get a bunch more to sign up for one division compared to others, but as the registrations have come in I have been updating my payout sheet and adjusting where the money will go.

The number of sponsors that we have for the tournament is now 22. We keep getting more every week so if you are interested let me know!

Right now I am looking at just above 1/3 of the field. I didn't mean to hit this percentage, but it turned out to be 36% if things finish the way I am predicting.

Picked up another sponsor - McDonald's in Washington is now a full sponsor for the event and has provided some cash to the event, coupons, and some awesome goodies to the player pack. I know its not disc golf stuff, but it looks like they are adding umbrellas, golf balls, and tees to the players pack.

Got a couple more signups this morning as well - get in soon!

Quick Update on the Tournament:

It's getting full....at the pace it is filling, we will be full within a week. I have had a handful of signups the last two days and some more emails with people telling me they plan on playing. Also, I have had numerous more people say on Facebook they will be playing. I would encourage everyone that your spot isn't reserved without signing up....so do it soon! It's getting full.

We have added a couple more sponsors and items to the 50/50:

-Thanks to the Peoria Frisbee Club for being a sponsor!
-ABC Discs and Dan Pastore have come on as a sponsor
-Springhill Suites in Peoria have come on as a sponsor
-Lakeview Musuem in Peoria has come on a a sponsor

I also wanted to introduce this little nugget - the top 3 finishers in Pro, Advanced, and Intermediate will each receive a free Distance Doctor! This disc MSRP's for $35 and my tournament is the first tournament to feature this awesome disc. And the top three finishers in these divisions will be getting one free, and we'll give away two more at the Lunch CTP contest!

Also, just to remind people and clarify the payouts - we are adding money to other divisions besides the Pro division. Also, any advanced that doesn't place gets $20 back in merchandise money and any pro that doesn't place gets all of their entry fee paid back in merchandise money ($45). In addition, pros get a players pack and a piece of the CTP's. I had an email complaint about pros getting a players pack and that reducing the payout. While I understand the criticism and this does indeed reduce what could have been an even larger pro payout, I wanted to encourage some people to play up by getting their money back in merchandise if they didn't place. Most importantly....its my tournament!  :)

If you want to sign up via paypal and are unsure if they are spots open feel free to send me an email. But I am capping the event at 105 (not 100) because of the third added hole so I do have 6 total spots left open. Thanks!

The tournament is completely full! And we are still 10 days away...exciting stuff.

There is a waiting list and so if you want to get on it feel free to email me at nate@ledgestonegrp.com

Pairings will be finalized by this Monday. No refunds will be given to anyone backing out after this coming Monday. In addition, no division changes will be accepted after Monday.

I have updated the pre-reg list on the PFC forums. Here is the pro payout. If you have complaints about the payout tell them to someone playing for merchandise because I don't care to hear them. Keep in mind that any pro that doesn't place gets $50 to spend on merchandise:

1 - $600
2 - $390
3 - $285
4 - $225
5 - $185
6 - $165
7 - $145
8 - $130
9 - $115
10 - $105
11 - $100

If anyone has a problem I am more than happy to refund their money before this weekend. As I stated all along, all divisions got added money. With that in mind, the Pro field got approximately 65% of the added money, which does include the merchandise the pros get.

Here is a little tease of the other divisions:

1st in Advanced - $125 cash, $200 towards merchandise, and a Distance Doctor
10th in Advanced - $70 towards merchandise

1st in Intermediate - $200 towards merchandise
13th in Intermediate - $40 towards merchandise

1st in Recreation - $135 towards merchandise
10th in Recreation - $33 towards merchandise

1st in Womens - $100 towards merchandise
2nd in Womens - $66 towards merchandise
3rd in Womens - $54 towards merchandise

1st in Masters - $120 towards merchandise
2nd in Masters - $80 towards merchandise
3rd in Masters - $65 towards merchandise

1st in Grand Masters - $100 towards merchandise
2nd in Grand Masters - $70 towards merchandise
3rd in Grand Masters - $55 towards merchandise

The sponsor list for this tournament is awesome. You guys should do a Ice Bowl down there. Thank You Nate and everyone involved for your hard work! Looking forward to this event.

It is pretty awesome. Wish I could play. I was thinking an National Tour (NT) event. Illinois disc golf has been disrespected over the years yet we are in the top of PDGA members, Tournaments, and courses. Time to showcase IL!

I'd love to see the return of great PDGA sanctioned tournaments to that area!

I think I said this in the PFC forums....but there will be a major announcement at my tournament. Thanks for the words!

Nate, why the change? I thought it was 1 round shorts and 1 round longs? strokes can be made up on the long tees. going to be hard to make up strokes playing the same 21 holes!   all the long tees are playable. what gives?

You must have missed the McNaughton Open B-tier earlier this year.

Went to Morton on Sunday and the course is looking good.  The WHOLE orchard is mowed and looks really nice.
Johnnie Harrison was doing some course work--THANKS for that!

Is it true that this tournament has the biggest purse ever in Illinois?

actually, I was asked who I wanted on my card. and since I have played with Kenny, Steven and Taylor alot over the last 3 years, I chose them.  And everyone in Peoria knows the relationship the Payne's have with the Martin's, so that was simple.
You get your chance to play with Scott in round #2. Considering he grew up in Morton, I totally expect him to win this event. and with the way you play, no doubt you will play with him in the 2nd round.

Concrete both rounds - it's never been anything but!  :)

Total prizes and money is now close to $10,000, which includes the raffle items. However, there are expenses that came out of that (players pack discs, etc). But it will be fun!

Something is in the works....we'll see how the Morton tourney goes. To convince my business partner to do something like that I need to get some clients from this!

man i wish i had noticed what this tournament was before committing to Mad City (dont get me wrong i had a blast). i hope you manage to set something up for this fall, i would def be in attendance.
i would personally vote for more unsanctioned tournaments over sanctioned. especially cause you can do formats like this. plus i couple a couple buddies that want to compete but arent sold on joining the PDGA or paying their stupid $10 fee.

this area has way too many unsanctioned events as it is. don't wish for more here please. they do one  a month all year long, but we have 1 sanctioned, and it's a C-Tier.
A few unsanctioned events are fine, but why do we need 1 every month?

The tournament was awesome Scott. Great weather. was ran very smoothly(for his first TD experience)
Didn't shoot very well, was out of the cash, but still got $50.00 in rewards dollars, and got 4 nice discs.  Looking for alot more and bigger things from this group. They have the desire it takes to show off the beautiful courses we have down here. And he knows he has help if he asks.  I truly believe you will see some big things from down this way next year. I almost gaurantee it!  ;)
