Post by: arendow on August 22, 2011, 07:51:35 AM
Chicagoland,

The Capital City Challenge is back in Springfield for its 13th year this Oct. 1!

Right now, we've set up a website (click the link below) for the tourney where we'll continue to update info on players packs, added cash and the like. Hope to see you there!

So far, no one has pre-registered for Advanced, but they are starting to roll in for every other division. Every year it seems we have a solid three cards worth though.

Players pack info!

When you register, you'll get a disc (of your choice) and a beanie (to battle the cold in the coming months after the tournament). We think the disc choices are rather impressive, and hope you find one to your liking. We have 25 of each disc and it is first come first serve.

Here's what you can choose from:
Glow Wraith (http://2011ccc.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/dsc02316.jpg)
Champion Katana
Z Buzzz
Cryztal Buzzz

The disc and beanie will be in the players packs if you sign up the day of the event. But if you want a tournament shirt (http://2011ccc.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/ccc-t-mock-up.png) thrown into the pack as well, you have to pre-register by THIS Friday.

ok, thanks. then let me ask this. How many people are able to play, and how many are you at right now?  I'll drive the hour to see what it looks like the day of if possible?

Thanks for the quick response.

Doug,

There really isn't a limit to how many can play. If we fill one course, we will likely split up divisions to Douglas and Lincoln to speed up play.

As of how many we have right now: 10. But for the past five years, we've had 70+ players at the event, so I'm expecting to come around. Especially since you can get a shirt, disc and beanie by registering this Friday.

Hope to see you here!

Yeah, I have played this event a couple of times. I will be there, just hate playing a tournament with under 10 people. And I just played in one that had 4, and those really are not worth the entire day.
If I have to, I will donate to the Open division and just play for ratings. Thanks again Aren.

Had a good time at this event.  Still love these courses.  Lincoln keeps changing every time I go back.  Some of the changes I like, some I don't, but the pond hole is still the best individual hole in Illinois.

Tourney staff was awesome.  Payout was ridiculously generous considering I paid $30 for entry, got a champ Katana player pack and a free dinner included.  If you aren't playing this event, you are missing out.
