Title: Open Gym--Round Lake Sports Center
Post by: CEValkyrie on October 18, 2011, 05:16:21 PM
I met with the Round Lake Area Park District today. I've talked to quite a few people that seemed interested in a winter open gym. I wanted to get a thread going. Anyone interested.

COST
Looking at a once a week open gym over the winter. They charge $6 for their standard open gyms for soccer, volleyball, and basketball. November would start with an introductory rate of $4 then move to $6 in Dec, Jan, & Feb.

TIME
Time would be determined by an open soccer field or the basketball court. The soccer field would be the best. It's 60 yards long and has a net around it.
It could possibly be:
7-9pm
8-10pm
9-11pm

SKILLS
Putters and Mids only.
Putting & putting competitions.
Catch
Mid Range practice.
Possible Edge Skillshot Contest.
Others?

I'm not in the area, but guts and double disc court would be great options as well.

i would def be down for that. im sure several people would take advantage of this that dont frequent the site. $6 is a deal! and later at night to make it even better!

I would like to see 7-9. Freestyle is something that could be played too.

I would be interested in the 7-9 or 8-10 options.  A winter putting league sounds like fun

It would feel good to toss some putters indoors during the cold months.  I have participated in a similar open gym in Milwaukee previously, which was an hour drive.  I would likely participate at the Round Lake open gym if possible, seeing as its a 5 minute drive.

The time will be dependent on the facility use. The soccer field is an excellent practice area at 60 yards long. I'm hoping to get the entire 2 hours there every week but it's also their prime season for indoor soccer. Once I get some more details I'll post.

It would be a hike for  me but I would come if it was at a time when traffic was not an issue and I did not have to leave work early ie. later. I rarely made it to Adler or any weeknight leagues because 630 meant leavving the loop too early.  I would be up for a later in the evening thing during the week especially Monday, Wedensday or Thursday.

It'll be a hike for me, but I would definitely try to make a hike out there (especially the first couple weeks), just to make sure the park distrrict feels they made a good decision by offering this awesome opportunity.  It would be easier for me the earlier it is though, since I get up for work around 3:30AM.  But however it works out, I would make appearances.

Looking forward to become a northsider again.

If I could talk the wife into moving, there is a job transfer availabe at work, to go to Joliet, I would be all over it. You guys go above and beyond to satisfy your golfers. It's no wonder there was just 2 World Champs representing Discontinuum!

I would go for sure. The 8:00 - 10:00pm time slot works best for me.

I'd probably head up once in a while and maybe drag Jonathan. I'd prefer the 7-9 or 8-10 spot on my end.
