Title: New course in Streator, IL (south of Ottawa)--Marilla Park
Post by: dana on October 20, 2011, 08:07:02 AM
Dan Nagel and I are working on an 18 hole design (with the input of a few local kids who initiated the project).  Marilla is a beautiful park.  Probably looking at a course par of around 58-59.

Front 9 will be a little more geared towards the rec players, but still fun for non- beginners.  Back 9 will be some pretty awesome disc golf.  We've got some elevation to work with along with some Pontiac/Mokena type land.

We've got a legit par 5 already mapped out at 860 ft.  You've got to hit a landing zone at about 270-290 (downhill).  You then dogleg right with a small river on your left  and a hillside/woods on your right.   400+ ft of open upshots till you hit the final 100+ ft where you need to navigate a handful of trees to the green.

Hoping to get a design finalized this Fall and course installed in the Spring.

Sounds awesome! When do you think it will open? It's great seeing so many 18 holers popping up.
