Surprised no one has put this one on there yet. Liked it when I played it. Very good course. Only been there twice though. I want to try out the elevated tee pad. Do they have insurance on that thing? Don't get sued by some drunk dumb ass falling off.
I like darkside. I've liked playing since my second or 3rd round playing it. Granted, when summer's thick its hard to find an errant disc in the prairie, and its a veritable feeding frenzy for mosquitos most of the season.
But there are some good difficult holes as well. Most of the ones in the woods take skill....
Hell yeah! (even though I AM meeting my parents who live in Kenosha for lunch Sunday after leagues)
:D
Oh my goodness.... Can't read?
First sentance of Jim's post:

A portable blacklight will work just perfectly and won't destroy your night vision.
If you don't have glow plastic, you can use a 2" glowstick such as are used for night fishing and use clear packing tape to secure it to the top or bottom of the disc. If you tape it on top, it won't affect the true flight of the disc too much if you get it pretty well centered... I've done this a few times, both on and off of glow plastic and I think I prefer the glowsticks overall - best for use on unfamiliar courses and in situations where a disc that fades quickly could get lost in the rough.
Alternatively, the plastic DGA uses for the Glow Fly (blunt mold) will glow for hours on a single charge.
Blacklights are a bit of a hassle to carry around with you at night, sure. But if you don't want to use the glowsticks then the blacklight is the best choice for use. Your mileage will indeed vary with what glow plastics charge better (example: DGA plastic charges extremely well and I used to have a glo-xclone that would be very dim by the time I threw it).
I think what Myk means about the 'warning' about the glowstick getting ready to fly away is that the tape will start to flutter in the wind when the disc is thrown. Its _very_ important to have the surface of the disc to be bone dry when you put on the tape or else it won't stick long - especially useful during the 'damp' seasons of the year when it gets moist out at night.
Hey Shawn, I'd probably be willing to take an extra Roc or two off your hands if you have ones you're looking to rid yourself of
Yeah, unless you're tossing black plastic....
If people live by it AND commute to Chicago to work, its Chicagoland.... I grew up in ktown and always considered it Chicagoland. Phuk, I've heard of people commuting from Madison even!
I propose that this Saturday's Skins be moved to Kenosha at 1:30pm, so that whomever can make it can help out Saturday morning. We can take a break (lunch sounds good, Shawn) then play Skins. How about it?
Well, since the replies aren't overwhelming, I'd rather play Best Shot in Kenosha NEXT weekend, so that fair notie could be given to those w/o internet services. Here's my plan for this weekend:
Saturday 9am - cleanup at Kenosha
Saturday 1:30pm - Skins @ Kenosha
Sunday 9:30am - Best Shot at Bevier
Next weekend, Skins at Bevier and Best Shot in Kenosha.
OK everybody?
Well, I made it out to Darkside, and it was primarily Craig (Parkside Prez) and me clearing out the back nine of the existing course. We made a big difference and saw all the work Shawn and Paul had done earlier in the week. The fairways of 10, 11, 12, 13 & 14 are lined with branches/logs, and all the dead stuff cleared away. A few teepees (smoking huts/rain shelters) are in the process of being made. We worked from before 9am past 12noon. The we got lunch (THANKS, Craig), returned to the park, and nobody from Illinois was there. I was so tired that I just took off. Drove past Bevier at 1:35, and NOBODY was there. Did people show up later in K-Town?
Of course! I need as much height as I can get!
Way to go Shaboooooooo! I think we can say congrats to Shawn and Paul Kuffel and Dennis Miller a job (getting) well done!
I'll be there at 7am with 2 trowels (maybe one with a pole) and 2-way radio/walkie-talkies (if I can find 'em in my kid's room). :-)
Woohooooo - Saturday sure was UNSANE! Much thanks to Shawn, Craig, Tom Holsten, Dennis Miller, Ed Wallen, and a bunch of other sweaty guys! I firmly believe that pure determination made those cement tees a reality. At one point, I thought we were in The Lord of the Flies.
But they look GREAT, and the increased difficulty screws lefties in a most beautiful way. Sorry I did not make it Sunday....
hOw SuPEr cOoL, dOod!
I love how that course is jammin!
I'll get this new info up on the SEWisc site asap!
Come and bring that manly arm to the Blast, you manly man!
Please gimme info on Fall leagues at Darkside. Need to post 'em....
Hahahahahaha!!!!!!!!
I can't stop laughing! This is the funniest threaed I've read in a while! Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I just can't see calling Darkside anything but "tough" or "rewarding". Whoever gets putts to fall out must be slicing through the double chains with a 200g Jaguar.
I'm sorry....I'm still laughing after Shawn's post. Maybe we should make certain threads "Non-sober posting only".
BTW, nice Skins match today - that was fun!
Yes, thanks to Dennis Miller, Craig Shaub, Shawn Fallon, and all the folks who have been improving that already great course!
BTW, if you don't move the 11th basket, I'll kill you all in your sleep.
parkside is not in the chicagoland area.
it is in the greater milwaukee area.
however, its ALL discontinuum territory......
I was just trying to give Jon a hard time.
YEAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Do you need help?
Should I make my check out to UW Parkside?
hehehehehe just kidding
see you tamale!
ACE RACE at Darkside was FUN!
No aces, but some metal. Kevin Smart slammed a skip ace on Hole 6 that didn't stick.
Dennis Miller took a bunch of money, Tim Davis won $5, so did a local Am I think, in a long Jumbo putt-toss.
Good fun! Thanks, Shawn!
would love to help but can't make it. another saturday basketball game. last one of the season but then baseball starts & we have a game every saturday till june. Gatorade 125's start @ noon today.(NASCAR) forget v-day. What a great day.
later
that is fine with me jim
sorry i couldn't make it. another big win by the freshman corsairs today. last second shot to win it. see you sunday
That sounds sweet Shawn. I think I know what kind of stuff you are talking about. I've seen some tennis courts made out of the same material.
The tee pads are sweet! The course looks great!
Let's find these guys, take the chains, & hang their heads in them!!
UW Parkside, Kenosha WI
Kyle & Josh,
Register your name so you can get private e-mail & it tracks the amount of posts.
sweet!
all my ce valks(6) are very stable to understable. I have been playing with 1 for a year now & I rarely turn it over. My newer ones are a little more understable. I have blasted many trees & concrete with my older ones. they hold up great. i have 2 se valks. 1 is way more overstable than the other. there is a huge difference from the ce & se.
I always use this one. "would you rather have me out getting hammered & hitting on chicks at the bar, or playing disc golf."
We all have our opinions. I've really have changed my opinions of a few courses since I first started playing. Now that i'm a little better i'm starting to like some of the difficult courses. I hated Round Lake when I first started. I now enjoy playing there. I would love this course if things were upgraded. (hopefully we'll be doing this soon) I also did not enjoy parkside for a while because it was so tough for me. Now I really like it. All the changes are great. Shooting under par on the long tees can really pump you up!
i would like a ce leopard if you have one shawn. how much? what weights do you have? i've never thrown one. what do they compare to of innova stuff.
Quotezzost (09-16-2002 05:30 p.m.):
where are you talking about?? this course sounds alot like the ones back in michigan and i would love to get on some backwoods challenge.
Here's the link to their page:

Another fun thing to do (that doesn't work as well as glow sticks) is to put a couple small pieces of reflective tape on the top and bottom of the disc. Then when you throw, have a friend shine a flashlight on the disc while it's in flight.
Having a flashlight kind of takes away that atmosphere of playing at night, though. But if you have to finish a course and it starts getting dark, it's a cheap way to make your disc visible.
Great course! I finally got up to play it this weekend. I'll definitely get back up there when I find the chance. Kudos to Shawn & company for a great layout and a well maintained course.
Well, the new nine should be very tough, lots of elevation. We plan on spreading it out a little to fit in a full 18 in the future, but we think we can afford 9 for sure. If you like the ravine shot on #3, you are going to love the ravines on the new course. We have been working on the layout and I think that it should Parkside on the map for a A or B teir tournament. We have alot of long term plans for the course, I'm just glad to be a part of the planning. All we need is approval from the school and a bunch of cash. We try to keep it as clean as possible, it is easier for people to throw litter when it is present. It just pisses me of to know that fellow disc golfers litter on any course, I always pick up garbage on whatever course I'm playing on, out of respect for the game that I love.
We have alot of work to do this spring with moving a few tee pads and getting 9-18 alternate basket locations to add a little spice to the present course, maybe add a few 400+ holes for the big arms. I will keep everone posted and try to get a few workdays in with as many people as we can get.
We don't have leagues at this time, I think we are going to wait till spring to start up again. We don't have the hardcore golfers here like we do in Waukegan, when it gets cold we could only get the same 4 people, Paul, Dennis, Craig and myself. When it is warm out we gave clinics before leagues on different shots and analized and gave suggestions on form. We had lots of newbies, but they think we are crazy to play in the cold, I guess we are just freaks.
We are planning on having Worlds Biggest again this year on May 18/19th, last year was a success with over 70 people, hope you all can make it this year.
We are pouring concrete this Saturday. I hope some of the club can come out and help. We have food, 2-1/4 barrels (Sprecher Amber and Sam Adams) and many free disc for volunteers. We are going to have a good time when it is over. Please go to the first hole by 7a.m. or earlier. We are starting to pour at 7:30 so we would like to facilitate and give everyone a job.
A few people are camping out on the course on Sat. night also. If you have 2-way radios you can get ahold of us also so bring them they should be quite useful as we will be spread out into 2 crews.
Craig will be out on the course Friday all day prepping everything and could also use help with dropping off supplies at each hole, so if you are free tomorrow please stop by.
Thanks for any help,
Shawn Fallon
Yes, we could use help on Sunday. I think I'm going to sleep in a little so probaly not until 8am. We will be strippin' forms and grading out. So, bring a hammer and steel tine rake if you have one, if not we might have a few extra. We just got done with the 9 toughest holes so the next ones should fly. I can't wait, some of the new holes should be sweet....
Thanks to everyone that helped pour, we finished 35 pads and a few alternate placements by 4p.m. Jim made it for the whole day and worked his ass off, also thanks to Ken and JoJo for stickin' with it when things got a little crazy. All I got to say is that the day was not looking good when we had only 1 finisher and half the forms needed to be set but we stuck to it and got it done. Got a chance to play 9 holes on the crete and it is awesome. It is a good feeling that we built something that thousands of people are going to use over the years, and we will still bitch about doing it 30 years from now....
Anyone interested in helping tomorrow, we need a few picks and crowbars to aid in the removal of the forms. The consences of the group was that we are going to sleep in and start around 9:30-10am. Hope to see ya there, we still have lots of free disc and beer for helpers. Again thanks for all the help, maybe now we can upgrade the course to a 5 star with the new layout.
Well #5 is gone, looks like we are going to have to charge people to play here. This is 3 baskets in a year. This just makes me sick. And it is bullshit that the money we raise from leagues have to go to replace baskets instead of benches, trashcans and such. Also means that we might have to close the course at night so it is easier for the campus cops to patrol. Of course if anyone has any info please forward it to Craig,Paul, myself or the authorities.
The disc golf community is a tight knit group and somebody knows something about the baskets please think about the longterm effects of these crooks and do the right thing.
Paul and Craig moved 1, 4, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15 to new alternate placements.
#2 long wil be for tournaments only, I have not seen the baskets in the new positions yet, going to play it at 4:30 today and will let you know about 17. Kyle do you go to school at the darkside, we are looking for officers for the club.
OK, I just got done playing the course with the new layout and it is not friendly. #9 and #15 are supposed to be for tournaments only but they moved the baskets to the new spots and the fairways are not cleared as well as I would have liked. #15 I threw 3 disc from the longs and only parred 1 of them by going over the top with a grenade shot for my 2nd shot, the others shots I took 5's on. #9 is actually easier from the deck with a sky anhyser into the trees (just throw it 90ft up and let it drop in). #4 I lost my first shot (pink CE valk), 2nd tee shot did a forehand roller that gave me a shot at a duece but missed and had a drop in par. #1 is actually easier now, just go over the top of the trees down the middle.
The new layout is not beginner friendly, as I was driving by I saw a group putting at a make believe basket on #4. I had to pull over and tell them that a few baskets were moved to Alternates and that they should look for them. I was pleased on #12 when I got to my drive that hit some trees that it was parked in a new shorter position. #13 is longer and righty friendly. 14 is now a good skipping hole, just hit the chips at the opening and you are parked. There is no new alt for 17 it will stay the same. It is going to take a while to figure this layout out, not sure if I like a few of them.
The reason that we are not moving #2 is that the bushes behind the original were getting trashed. I love the long position, It is a hole that I can gain a few strokes on people since most people can't throw that far. Just got to hit the oak and let it drop next to the basket, it is that simple....
Sorry but I'm on the leaders card, which is almost 10bucks a hole @ http://platypusdisc.com/wisconsin_disc_golf/tour_finale.htm Same day as blast...
ya the alt was to hard to find since it is not cleared out yet, #17 does have a short alt....
We will be giving throphies out at 5:30 today and then follow with random draw best shot. They look sweet.
You now have a perfect disc, just throw it with some hyser and you will go straight then right. Great for hole 15 at Parkside.
Thanks for the kind words, I also get it from my lovely lady, she says, "All you think about is disc golf and sex!" so I said, "you forgot food, can you make me a sandwich?" Ya, I spend to much time at Parkside, I'm really happy at how it is turning out exept for the littering and people trying to cut down trees and such. Hole #12 was designed to have a few trees in the way and some fu****g idiot has managed to cut 1/4 of the way through the tree. When things like this happens I find it hard to even want to do any other changes or improvements. I just need my own personal course I guess. I remember when Parkside first opened I would be out there all day and I would not see anyone playing exept for a guy named Paul Kuffel, that I heard was a Pro. Hell I didn't even know there was such a thing as a Pro disc golfer. Now look at me I'm addicted to throwing plastic, when I'm not throwing I'm thinking about throwing. I think I need help....so I'm going to be starting a Friday night disc glow league on September 28th. Does anybody know when sunset is for the 28th?
we will have glow sicks available for league, I find this to be the best way to go. I use 3 disc for glow, all stuff that I use during the day. I don't like to use high power lights as it takes away from the night golf experience. You need to use the force. You know what you need to do on a hole, just imagine the fairway and throw. We will also give each person a glowstick to hang on the basket when they think they need it.
Jake, I don't have money for new signs do you? Yes it would be nice. Parkside is not my favorite course just my home course, I have put over 400 hours in this course to get it where it is now, it is not a jewel but I don't consider it a pitch and putt course like you think it is. If you can get under par from the long you are shotting well. I laugh at the fact that elevation throws people off. I think most ams like yourself want long open, flat holes were you really don't need much skill. If you want to get better you need a course like Parkside that requires a player to have many different shots in the bag. The baskets are donated replacements of the 2 that were stolen this summer and they are mach v's the others are new mach 2's with chain upgrades, if you got spitouts on the baskets with the chain upgrades you need to learn how to putt. Thanks for the kind words on the course, its comments like yours that make me want to continue to donate cash and time. NOT...
May have to wait, the school wants to put up a pavillion area with vending machines and picnic tables. This also would house a message board, until this happens everything can be posted to the sign by #1.
We are meeting at 7:30 and starting at 8 this Friday for Best Shot doubles. I just got some glow supplies today and will have sticks and tape available. $5 a person $1 as pool, with $1 going to Parkside for the nonstop maintenance on the course. There will be payouts weekly and I will donate and take donations for CTP's. This is not really a league as I will not be keeping any money for trophies or stats. I have been hearing a lot of people asking with interest about getting a glow round going and with it getting darker early now, I decided to get it going. So this is more of a weekly pick up best shot, If you miss a week it will not hurt you with points. Consider this practice for future glow tournaments and have some fun.
On the side note, I have been told that I have to many disc in the house and garage so I will be getting rid of a bunch of used disc for 3 bucks a piece, most only have a scratch. If you are interested in some of them I'll be there a little before 7 and I drive a tan/sandstone S-10 with a toolbox in the back.
I have always been against the use of flashlights as it takes awhile for your eyes too ajust back to the dark, and let me tell you it get real dark at Parkside. I have plenty of tape and glowsticks. I have been trying to go threw my disc to get rid of a few and is it ever hard, I have a bond to all of them. I do however have quite a few new ones that I will also be getting rid of like 5 of the first run z-xs's, z-cyclone ghost stamp, z-magnets 1 clear tye dye other clear red, ce-leopards and I'm going to start digging into the used ones tonight.
1 new 172 and 1 used 172 I threw it once and found it as stable as a ce-teebird. I like leopards that flip as they are great for rollers.
Got a quick round in tonight and also dueced 8 from the long, my first 1 with the elevated. My drive hit the rocks by the stairs. See ya tomorrow. I'm gong to start another post for the glow league.
Burn Baby Burn....the Praire's on fireya...
They burned today.
Thanks Myk, I'm absolutely thrilled with the work the grounds crew has done with helping us get it ready for "Praire Open." the course God's gave me another ace on Friday afternoon. Hole 12 from the long, pin in short position. When I was trimming some broken trees I saw a small route from the basket looking back at the pad. I played it about an hour later....hit the route and thought that I was overdrove by a mile and then "ching," it hit so hard that I thought that it fell out. As I walked up it was in there...it felt surreal.
Have you guys seen what they did on #3 and #4? way cool...
We are putting in sleeves for super short placements. This is for a computer olympiad that is happening at Parkside in the next few weeks. They plan on taking the kids and volunteers on the course and giving them a few disc each.
Anyway, just did not want people freaking out that next week everything will be super short. Can you say "multiple aces" for leagues this week...last week also, ace pool should be around 170.
Also, due to the nature of the short placements, we are having an "Ace Race" on Thursday, August 21st. This is the week we will also be giving out plaques and discs to the winners of the Summer league. Sign-up between 5 and 5:45 we will be shotgun starting at 6. I will get back to you on the cost. Everyone will drive 2 disc on each hole to try to get an ace. I'll get more info out asap.
[
Sunday League is scheduled for Parkside on August 24th. Will the short pins still be there then? I won't be there anyhow, but thought I'd point that out.
Yes Damon, they will be in the short position.
The Ace race is on. It is a go. Maybe Josh can get one in these positions.
Everyone is invited to an Ace Race this Thursday at Parkside. 2 drives per hole, no other shots, no score....just drives for aces.
Sign up for the Ace Race at 5- 5:45. $6 entry, $1 goes to course fund. If no aces after the round, we will have multiple jumbo toss's for cash.
The local am was me, Paul won 10, and Neil White won 10. We might do this on a larger scale this fall or spring. Jumbo tosses are always fun when the circle is full, we had it 1/4 full...with wind behind of course. Thanks to all for participating in a successful league and the ace race. good times...
Since we're moving the skins game on Saturday to Darkside, couldn't we move the league there on Sunday?
Do we get to play the elevated tee on 9? We played Darkside yesterday, and the regular tee placements were horribly muddy.
Rumor has it that we're going to be playing from the longs this weekend at Darkside. Can anyone confirm/deny that?
I am sorry that I didn't have the chance to make it out to help you guys. I did have a chance to play Sunday in the late afternoon though, and man do those tees look sweet!!! Even a couple of flared ones? You guys did a great job on the course and deserve mad props for all the hard work you've put into this.
THANK YOU!!!!
Rumor has it from a very good source (Jojo) that 7 new pin placements are in at Parkside. I'm not totally sure if they're just new placements that were poured or if the pins have actually been moved. A lot of great things have been happening with this course. I'll let y'all know the details later tonight or tomorrow.
You won't beleive what they did to 9. The course certainly didn't get any easier, let me just say that.:D
Is there going to be a fall league this year?
I just want to give a quick shout out to Shawn, Craig, Paul, and anyone else that's been working on the Parkside course lately. My god is it the bomb!!! I've never been so happy to live in this po-dunk rinky dink town until I realized that the Parkside course was going to be so awesome!!! Thanks guys!
Talk about timing!!! I just found out last night that ladies night for my girl and her friends is on Friday nights. Coincidence?? I think not! I'm down for some dark discin'!
As a side note, the sticks work a hell of a lot better than the glow discs if you ask me. With glo sticks, you don't have to stop at each hole to recharge your disc, and you don't have to worry about losing the charge on your disc either. Just make sure you tape your stuff on real good cuz if the grass is wet, the tape will come off the disc.
If that doesn't work, then just bug the piss out of her all day until she tells you to go away. Then you can go to the course without a problem.
I'd say go with glow sticks all the way. Tape them to every disc you're going to use, even glow discs. Sometimes, I've found, carrying a black light can be a big hassel and you have to charge your discs each time you throw. With the glow sticks, you just have to make sure you don't lose the stick, which you should have plenty of warning if it's about to fly off.
Well, it sounds like you're trying to get a bunch of regular plastic to glow, and that just won't happen. Glow discs are made with a special plastic that allows them to absorb UV Light and then radiate (glow). The only bad thing about glow plastic is that it's got to be charged after each and every hole, unless you've got a GlowFly (Blowfly putter or driver made of glow plastic). Those things just glow for hours!! I hope that makes sense.
In the midst of all the course changes and everything else going on at Parkside, I would really like to thank all the guys and dolls that have pitched in to make this course so awesome. I, myself, haven't done much to help the course, but I want to make sure that everyone knows how much everyone I know appreciates the work you guys are doing. YOU ROCK!!!
On a side note, I'd also like to make a request. Don't ever, ever, ever in a million years change the tee pads or pin placement on hole 6. I just love it too much!!!
And here I am never even having played there :-(
So who's going to take me out there?? (And kick my @ss :-))
Shawn]]
I would like like to take a look at what ya got. So if you end up coming out to Bevier for Best Shot, wanna bring what you have left?
Or drop me an e-mail with what ya got, either way would work for me.
One day I will eventually get up there to play, its a shame I haven't had the chance to yet. Just such a big pain with work, family and the fact that I live in Evanston.
I went to Parkside today. I was surprized how well I found the place without actually directions. Anyways I have to say I was disappointed. Everyone talks so highly of the place, I guess I just got to thinking that it was something too good to be true. I was impressed with the fact that every hole had a long and short cement tee. But even the long tees weren't that long. I only threw my tee-bird like twice all day. All the holes require acurate tee shots that prevent you from really unleasing. Those are Mach V baskets, right? (except 5, dont know why it was different) I just didn't like them very much. The baskets are definaly different. They seem to spit out the putts that other basket hold on to. I had a bunch of putts that hit the chains off-center that normally drop in, that instead sprung out. Whatever. Maybe its just me complaining. It sure would have helped to have someone that knew the course to help with basket locations. The maps on the signs are grossly inacurate after they were moved. Plus the holes have lots of blind shot that were tough the first time. Anyways I like bevier better so I doubt I'll drive up there very often.
Ok I need to rethink what I said yesterday about Parkside. I didn't play all that well (partly because I don't know the course). And I tend to make bad judgements about courses when I don't do well the first time I play it.
The chains in the baskets aren't actually bad. In fact they are pretty nice. I can definately see the quality. Im just not a good putter and they are very different than the chains at Adler or Bevier.
True, Shawn, it would be rediculous to expect there to be new acurate signs already. But I don't think It would be to much to put up a flier on the first sign explaining it.
When I said that I could only throw my driver once or twice it wasn't because the course is a pitch and putt or anything like that (though it isn't long). It was because many of the baskets are hidden or very well protected. And I know that you can throw longer than me so the actual length its the problem.
The elevated basket on 8 is wierd. I don't think that it is tough to putt into the high basket, it is really hard to get a good approach shot near the basket. everything falls away.
Anyways the course is in excellent condition. I think I could enjoy it much more if I saw one of you pros throw it. Now that I think about it I didn't like Bevier the first time I played there either. I'll give Parkside another go.
yeah, well i liked the darkside a lot. the only thing i didnt like was on number 8 the basket was elevated. That was bullcrap since i only made it on pure luck because i have never ever shot at an elevated basket. Other than that i really liked parkside and if you dont like it, it is because you only shoot good on long holes with nothing in your way and requires little or no accuarcy on the drives.....haha jake. well i will convince my friend jake to go again.
Hey look! I'm all registered now! Woo-Hoo!
Hey I have an SE Valk, and it's hit a few trees so it's be come a bit overstable. How does the CE Valk hold up to a tree every so often?
I think so! Thanks for the invite!
Your Valk is understable Josh, that's why it turns over and goes right on you all the time.
Hey thanks! See always check it before you hit the "Post" button!
I couldn't agree more Myk. My fiancee gives me a hard time about being out there all the time but it's all in good fun. She can't tell who I am engaged to! :-)
Sweet! A glow league would rock. Now if I can just convince my fiancee that this is a GOOD thing!
that's a good one. 'course I don't drink so it would really work for me :-) She doesn't really give me that much of a hard time about it. Ideally I'd convince her to play enough times that she'd eventually like it!
I've often considered that. If she starts to give me too much of a hard time I might just have to do that!
Yeah good question Kyle. And if the league is a go Friday, what time and how much will we be paying in weekly?
Kyle and I picked up a couple of those portable blacklights last night and when I got home, I pulled out my white SE Valk, turned all my lights off and turned the blacklight on expecting my Valk to really glow but nothing happened! It worked well on my Lightning discs and my Glo Eagle and it sort of worked on my Elite Z XS but all in all I was pretty disappointed. I've never played with glow sticks or blacklights so I'm not sure if the blacklights pick up the glow sticks better or what the deal is. Any suggestions for Friday night?
Cool! Thanks for the tips guys! I'm still confused though why most of my discs didn't light up at all when they came in contact with the blacklight. Not even my white ones. Any ideas?
I figured only the Glo discs would actually glow but I was under the impression that when you shine a blacklight on a disc, it lights up a bit, thus making it easier to find. I get it now!
Wow Kyle, Duece on 8 huh? Good job bro.
As long as Kyle and Shawn are sharing, I dueced 8 from the Am tees friday night before the Glo round. I had a really nice drive that gently landed at the base of the rocks and gave me an easy putt up.
Wow couldn't believe the conditions @ UWP Saturday. Any more days like that and I wouldn't be surprised to see it shut down for a while for repairs/healing time. Good think my shoes are waterproof!
Hmm...I can probably get there by 5:30 if I hustle outta work.
Ouch :-) Didn't you see? I got one last thursday night on 14. Skip Ace. Now it's Kyle's turn :-) 'course I wouldn't mind a second one ;-)

Hey I have an SE Valk, and it's hit a few trees so it's be come a bit overstable. How does the CE Valk hold up to a tree every so often?
Your Valk is understable Josh, that's why it turns over and goes right on you all the time.
Sounds like I need to buy a couple of glow discs. :)
BTW, the 28th is a saturday. Weather.com says that sunset on the 27th is at 6:40.
Which tree is getting cut on 12? Haven't noticed that yet, but I've only been playing short tees lately. (That's the only bad part about the course being on a college campus. To many idiots that don't think and ruin it for everybody else.)
BTW, since you mentioned a glow league...
Josh, another friend and I picked up a couple of 500,000 candle power floodlights last fall (cordless/rechargable) for about $15 each at Wally world. Not only are they great for tracking drives in the air at night (if you don't have a glow), but they also make the glow discs glow really bright for a long time.
Each light runs for about 30-45 minutes and needs to be charged for 12 hours, but they work great.
Speaking of new signs Shawn, what are your thoughts on getting a bulletin board at UWP?
Josh and I may have a donor/sponsor. Email me about it and I can give you some more details.
Sounds like I need to get there early so I can buy more discs I probably don't need :)
If you've got any DX leopards, I'll take them.
Here are some scorecards I made up a few months ago to use on the Parkside course. The pdf file looks a litte funky, but they print fine.
Here's the other version if you're putting more than yourself on the card.
I'll take whichever one of the ce leopards Valk doesn't want
BTW, thought I'd share: I was finally able to get a duece on hole #8 at Parkside tonight. (am tee, I wish I could throw long enough to do it from the pro tee)
Should have done that a long time ago, but the accuracy on my drives has really been suffering the last couple of months.
Somebody busted the sign post off at ground level on the tee sign on hole 7(am) today.
It was still up late yesterday when I played and was laying on the ground, snapped off at the bottom when I was out there today.
Yeah, the "trenches" they dug for the chips on 3 and 4 are great!
I'm also really liking the alt. placement on 11.
Bruce and I have always thought it ironic that the best course in the Chicago area is in Wisconsin. That you continue to improve it, is fantastic! I look forward to getting up there and playing the course again.
I still think its the best course in the Chicago area. Its within 60 miles of Chicago anyway. Its better than anything IN Chicago for sure! :)
It actually looks pretty cool. And there is no losing discs in the blackness.
Maybe I can get there on time!!! The last few weeks, I have missed you guys by about 10 min or so.
ACE RACE!!! HELL YEAH!!!
It was a blast!!! My first Ace Race!! Almost got one on #7, just a couple inches lower. But lots of metal, I think everyone in our group got metal at least once. I thought for sure someone would hole one of them. What a great time, Thanks Shawn!!!!

Sunday League is scheduled for Parkside on August 24th. Will the short pins still be there then? I won't be there anyhow, but thought I'd point that out.
Wow, it has been a long time since anyone has talked about Parkside. The Course is in excellent condition..considering all the rain lately. I would like to thank Tall Paul, Sergio and Kevin S. for helping out today with spreading chips, removing fallin' trees, installing steps up the ravine to #3 shorts tee pad, grubbin' out stumps and just making the course look so nice... I'm glad to have friends like you guys that take pride in disc golf.
After our work day we played cali from the longs for tags...not to sure of the scores but Kevin gave me a battle to the end.. I think I shot a -3.
Summer Leagues I believe will be starting on June 24th, which is a Thursday, not sure on times yet, should be same as last year.
Praire Open registration is now open at http://oldweb.uwp.edu/admin/union/discgolf/tournys.html (http://oldweb.uwp.edu/admin/union/discgolf/tournys.html)
This should be one of the best tournaments we have ever had at Parkside...
We are working on camping on site for out of towners, or those who just want to camp.... we will most likely have a huge bonfire. good times.. :D
I didn't realize anyone was doing course work today or I would have stopped by. Went up to Dretzka for the first time in about a year...
I'm pretty sure we will be having a chip speading work day in about 3-4 weeks... I'll give a heads up to Ya'll, O-tay.
Much appreciated, Kyle. It was kind of spur the moment for Kevin and I. I knew Shawn was going to be out there working on the steps, didn't realize he was going to make it a day of "work."
Some idiot with a blue sharpie went through the course today and and wrote urls and general graffiti on nearly every tee sign and a few of the ace boards from hole 12 through 18.
Managed to clean most of the tee signs off by spraying them with Steve's Off Skintastic. (this stuff washes sharpie off with no effort and I'm putting it on my skin?)
What were the urls? Lets DOS his site! ;)
Played Parkside tonight.. Man do I love this course.
I didn't notice much of the URL stuff (if any, but then again I wasn't looking for it) so good job man.
DOS HIM?
I swear to god if this doesn't stop there will be $%^&ing murders!!
