Currently this is what the host stamp is looking like. The center is designed so that it reads iOS50! upside down too!

I've been working on burning the trophies. This year the trophy design is going to match the stamp logo above. Here's one that I have burned already (btw each trophy has about an hour+ of work put into it by the time I'm done). This one still needs to be oiled.

I have updated the course map for the event (link on illinoisopenseries.com (http://illinoisopenseries.com)). A couple changes this year, 13A (short shot up the path) will not be used. But we are going to do two holes on the East side of the tracks. Hole 20 will a 500 ft. toss. Hole 21 will be shorter with a mando. Hole 20 may also have a mando. Still considering it to keep throws well away from the parking lot.

For this event only we are bringing back the final four. The top four players from the MPO division will have a four hole final round. These are special safari holes that we can't normally do. There will be a give away of a custom stamped iOS50! disc to a random spectator watching the final four compete. This giveaway is open to everyone, but the spectator winner must be present at the awards ceremony to claim their prize.

Safari holes are also posted on the course map. If you do practice these special holes, please be considerate of others playing the normal flow of the course.

No reason to leave Illinois the first weekend of June. The IOS is one of the best values you will find anywhere.

Trophies were oiled Monday and are curing out in the garage. I'll post pics in the next day or two.

No reason to travel to Wisconsin when you can play a great course here in Illinois and the ace pot will be around $400. Cha-ching!

Not to mention that this is an Amateur B-Tier event. Player Packs and CTPs are included as a part of every amateur entry fee. Prize values exceed PDGA standards.

Oswego 2012 Course Info Sheet
General:
2m rule is not in effect.
Users of the bike/walking path have the right of way.
Round 1 will be played from the short tees which are concrete.
Round 2 will be played from the long tees which are limestone and marked with flags.
Hole 19 uses a fly pad tee, hole 20 & 21 from the bike path. Same tee used both rounds.
Casual relief from poison ivy. Lie is nearest lie on line of play behind poison ivy.

Hole Specific:
Hole 1: Please spot for the group behind on Hole 19 as they tee off.
Hole 1, 2, 18, 19, and 20: Railroad tracks are out of bounds. The first rail is the OB line.  There is a casual relief area covering the gravel rail bed. Mandatory relief must be taken to the edge of the gravel. A throw from the previous lie option is still available for discs that land OB over the tracks.
Hole 3: The fence line is the OB line.  Do not retrieve your disc if it lands inside the enclosed fenced area during the round. You will be DQ'd. Discs may be retrieved after round.
Hole 4: The fence line is the OB line. The fence line is extended into the woods. On OB throws from the tee and drop zone only, the next lie shall be from the short tee (aka drop zone). See Hole 3 with regards to enclosed fenced area.
Hole 5 long: Logs are lying in the bottom of the ravine. These may be considered a playing surface if required.
Hole 6: Mando at tree with ribbon on it. Disc must pass to right of tree. Drop Zone is marked with paint.
Hole 13a: No 13A
Hole 15: High grass on either side of the fairway is OB. A painted line marks the edge of the OB area and extends beyond the basket on the right side. The tall bushes near the basket on the left side are in bounds. The short tee is an optional drop zone for OB throws from the long tee.
Hole 16: On/Over paved bike path is OB. In bounds area for hole 15 is OB. Normal relief applies.
Hole 17 short tee: Mando at tree with ribbon on it. Discs must pass to right of tree. Drop Zone is marked.
Hole 17 long tee: No mando when playing from the long tee.
Hole 19: When teeing off, each group must have a spotter out by the path for safety reasons. If a pedestrian/cyclist is hit, you will be DQ'd.  Round 1 uses the practice basket. For round 2 the basket is elevated near the short tee for hole 1. The near side of the paved bike path and the path itself are OB. OB discs from tee shots are not retrieved until a player successfully marks a lie inbounds. For OB throws from the tee, the next shot will be from the tee. If a player fails to make it inbounds after two attempts, their third attempt will be from the marked drop zone. From the drop zone and all other lies, normal OB relief applies.
Hole 20: On/Over Path is OB. Creek is casual water (i.e. not OB)
Hole 21: On/Over Path is OB. Mando at tree with ribbon on it. Discs must pass to left of tree. Drop Zone is Marked.

Yes 20 & 21 will be east of the RR tracks.

Thanks for the info on the baskets. If the park district does not get them repaired, we will have temps to take care of it.

Problem solved.  Plans a,b,c and d in effect.  Talking with the Park District and we are on track.  Recovery of all baskets are had and minimal repair is in order.  This is a non issue but any information regarding vandalism would be appreciated.

i should clarify that $391 is not right for the ace fund rollover.  There was no rollover from last year, $391 isn't divisible by 3 (and since it's $3 to get in you know it's not right), and even if it WAS 391 that would mean 130 players got in on the ace fund despite only having 125 total players playing at IOS #49.  The correct rollover amount is $291, sorry about pulling a Roger Clemens and misremembering!

Still a good chunk of cash :)

Checkin is between 7:30 and 8:30 am. When you checkin you will receive a voucher for $15 that is good for anything that we have in the merch tent. At that time you will also have the option to get in on two side-games. One is the ace fund ($3), the other is a 50/50 CTP ($2). The 50/50 CTP is used to raise money for series trophies given out after the series completes for the year (half is paid out to the CTP winner, half goes to the trophy fund). Both of these are optional. Even if you don't decide to get in on the 50/50 CTP, you will still  be eligible for various CTPs for your division.

Just a quick note to let people know that the TD reports have been turned in and the PDGA paid. Results from IOS#50 will be in the next ratings update on July 2.

I'd like to thank the various people that helped out to make this event run smoothly. Whether it was weed whacking the course, staining the tee signs, helping setup on the day of the event, counting cards, spotting, caddying, scoring some free breakfast goodies, bringing in baskets, or spotting for the final four; those little things all help for a great event. I appreciate all that stepped up in big ways and small. Thanks guys.

btw the 10m circles were incorrect and I want to take full responsibility for that. I remeasured my chain last night and it was short by 23". Sorry Blaine for giving you bum tools. It will be correct next time.

If you have suggestions for making next year's event better, I'd love to hear them. Send me a PM while it is still fresh in your mind.

Next event is in Sterling on June 23 & 24. Pre-registration closes Thursday night 6/21 for IOS#51. We are limiting that event to four-somes. Do not get shut out.
