Title: Women's National Championships
Post by: CEValkyrie on September 27, 2003, 12:21:38 PM
Jon called me between rounds today. They played 1 round at Bradley on Friday & the 2nd was cancelled due to lightening. After 2 rounds White, Korver, & Reading are all tied for 1st. Diana was on the 2nd card & Kelsey is leading by 12 strokes in the Jr. Division. He also said Becky was not last. I'll keep you posted.

Women's Nationals is a wrap.  If you go to pdga.com, there is a logo linking to the USWDGC website where you can get scores.  If you go there, compare Kelsey's Total and Final Nine score to that of the intermediate players.  Juniors and Intermediates played the same tees.

Kelsey is kind of embarrased at having beaten the juniors so relentlessly, but those rounds count towards ratings and she is trying to improve her rating.  Once we figured out that Kella's rating was based on bad data, Kelsey started shooting against the Intermediate scores.  Every round we looked at how far back she was from the Intermediate leader, and every round she came out gunning to make up the difference.  It actually shows something about her character that she didn't just coast in once she had a ten or twelve stroke lead.  She has the character of a cold blooded killer!  :D

Thanks, Pat.

I didn't get a chance to do a spotlight. The only time was on Sunday and I was just too dog tired to do anything other than get the pictures.

Nice Jon. Although all the pics of female Brakels are sweet, the one with Des, Ruth, Juliana, and Barrett is fabulous.

Are you talking about the non-action shot that is a picture of the 4 of them them standing next to each other? That one is a little bit blurry and strangely cropped at the knees---but I couldn't find another one with all 4 of them. I much prefer action pictures than those.

Yep
a quick 'unsharp mask' in photoshop helps a little.
i like the image because it shows 4 of the very best female discers in the country simultaneously and seemingly having a good time.
it s also the only pic i've seen with barrett in a skirt............

HA! That thing (the skirt) is somehow related to her ultimate days. She apparently had it all picked out should she make the finals. Being around them all day, I do find out which ones have fun while playing and which ones tend to get a bit worked up by the pressure. Barrett, Juliana, and Des make for an interesting group. Ruth seems fairly quiet when she plays. On a back-up hole Des, Juliana and Barrett got to talking and Juliana told a couple of funny stories that I got on video. That's really a moment to be seen just because its so real and Juliana tells a pretty good story.

I still don't like that particular picture, but I do appreciate it for the reasons you mentioned. But here's a tip for you youngsters out there: Use conventional framing when taking conventional pictures. Feel free to play around with unconventional framing when taking unconventional or artistic pictures.
