This is pretty much the same format as last years Steady Ed event, only change is that food and beer can be purchased in the basement instead of upstairs. If you want you can bowl and play games down there also. Should be fun... You can practice your glow game on Fridays at 7 if you wish, random draw best shot.
PDGA sanctioned or no?
My guess is no..... but thats just a hunch.
no
Coolness!
What's with the name of "Big Paw"?
Is it "Paw", as in Pa, or Dad or Father,
as in "Who's Your Daddy"?
:P
Since I prob won't play, gimme a job to do of you need help.
The club named the event, we are just going to help with keeping it going smoothly. From what I heard they were thinking short course, Little Paw and Long course Big Paw. Pro's and Advanced I believe are playing the longs I guess...not sure, so don't quote me on that yet.
Jim, I can keep you busy..
Well, i learned something over the weekend. The parkside logo has a paw behind it...this is were the Big Paw name was inspired.
here is the info for the event
Anywhere to pre-reg or no? I and many people would like to play and want to secure our spots.
Wow, that's a mighty large image.
My boss was kind enough to let me post one flyer for this tourney on our front door. The only reason she let me is because it's a "Charity" event/fundraiser and it's local.
My other boss, I have 3 of them now, took down the flyer today because the event is not sponsored by TWC and the flyer was not approved by Marketing. Maybe next time.
How are those TPS reports comin?
Any clue on who's gonna play where? I imagine I'll be playing AM if I play, but I might do advanced. It'll really depend on where everyone's playing from, and how my arm feels that day.
Advanced players will play Pro and AM's will be AM's. For complaining Advanced guys, this is were you can compete with better players then you normally would for a fraction of a normal Pro entry. It is for charity... fun stuff...
no pre reg, thanks for asking though. we will not turn people away, if we need to add a hole or 2 we will. I am betting against it though. Hope to see most of you guys there. Party at my house following the event.
There will be multiple CTP's all day. I'm going through my discs for a few donations tonight.
Excellent!!!
Anyone attending passing through the Libertyville area?
I saw a notice for the Big Paw tournament at Elver today. Sorry I didn't think to post one myself.
On a side note I birdied no. 18 long today 490' waaaaaay downhill. My drive parked itself in the ring of mud around the basket
post and dropped the put in for a duece. It felt almost as good as an ace for me.
That's a hell of a shot man!! Getting it down the hill is one thing, but parking it near the basket is a whole other story!!
Nice shot Pat, I see Mad City is working your big arm. I put a classic roc about 40ft left of that hole once..picked it up as my 1rst one was parked...one of my favorite holes on that course. I like 17 in the long position, very tight and something like 420ft. cool course..in longs.
Thanks. I have been cranking shots down that hill for a month. In the last week I have been getting closer and closer until yesterday when by luck the eagle landed in close.
Shawn, as far as I can tell all the baskets, or at least most of them, are set long including 17. Which is just kicking my butt. I tell myself it will make me a better disc golfer just before I start to cry again on thet ride home.
Yeah, 17 in the long is nutty.
I've parked 18 from the pro a couple times. Its a good feeling, eh?
The first time I ever played Elver, I put my drive about 5' from 18's basket beautiful shot, so proud...STILL can't believe I missed the putt! Figures
The Big Paw Fall Classic. Thanks to the Parkside Disc Golf Club for a great event.
Shawn Fallon won the Pro division after a six hole glow disc playoff with Terry Miller. Way to go ex-homeboy!
Josh Hurth won the Amature division. Nice job aginst some tough, tough, tough amature compition.
And Derick Poulsen (?) took the Student division.
The glow round was most excellent. Glow disc during an eclipse of the moon. Now that doesn't happen often.
Sounds like everyone had a great time, wish I could have been there. Speaking of which....Shawn, I forgot all about droping your disc off. I am really sorry, I am a putz. Hopefully we can meet up some time this week. I am going to be a leagues today, at about 11am or so, play until leagues is done, then attend the meeting. I will have your disc with me just in case you make it to leagues or the meeting. Sorry, my bad.
BigPaw sounds like it was an EXCELLENT time! Wish I could have made it! SITHLORD RULES (Sorry T-Dogg)!
And Shawn , THANKS for the get-together afterward (that's right, I didn't hit the tourney, but made the party)! I was hoping you'd be there, Pat, cuz your CE Eagle needs you!
Sorry I missed seeing you Jim. I'll get that Eagle sooner or later.
