I have been in contact with Jay about the 2004 BagTag Challenge. Seems like everyone wants a BTC; also, some feedback was given about the appearance and cost of the Tags.
So, unless there are any objections, Jay and I will get the Tags ready for January now (so that if the club structure or officers' positions change there won't be a lapse in current BagTags).
Attached is a sample of what the BagTags will look like. We will start out with 50. They will be color-printed on cardstock (60#) paper and laminated with clear, heavy-duty lamination plastic. They will have a 1/8" hole cut near the side of the Tag and will come with a plastic tie for easy attaching to your disc bag.
Feedback?
2004 DISContinuum BagTag Challenge
Our BagTag Challenge is a fun and exciting way to promote competitiveness and camaraderie among disc golf players in the area. The idea is simple. A limited run of BagTags is printed with incremental numbers on the front of each tag. These BagTags are then sold to disc golfers on a first-come/first-served basis. The goal of each BagTag owner is to obtain the lowest number BagTag by the end of the season (#1). At the end of the challenge, prizes are awarded to the top 5 BagTag holders. Proceeds from the initial sales of the BagTags going toward prizes and sponsoring other DISContinuum events.
RULES
1. Any BagTag number may challenge another.
2. No handicapping.
3. No divisional advantages or sanctuary.
BagTag owners are not broken down into divisions for DISContinuum BagTag Challenge purposes.
4. BagTag owners must display their BagTag(s) where it can be easily seen. Concealment of BagTags is not allowed.
BagTags must be physically present to accept a challenge.
5. It is mandatory to accept challenges at any singles tournament or singles league.
6. The challenger and challengee must be on the same card, unless a specific agreement is made prior to tee-off.
7. It is not mandatory to accept a challenge during casual rounds.
8. If there are multiple BagTag owners on the same card during an event, a multiple challenge may be made.
For example: Ralph holds BagTag #5, Clyde holds BagTag #15, and Phyllis holds BagTag #9.
All are playing on the same card at an event. At the end of the round, Ralph shoots a 56, Clyde shoots a 58,
and Phyllis shoots a 50. Phyllis takes BagTag #5, Ralph takes BagTag #9, and Clyde keeps BagTag #15.
9. Challenges on the same card take precedent over any cross-card challenges. Rule #6 takes precedence.
10. Ties go to the defender of the lowest numbered BagTag.
11. Valid for multiple-day events.
12. To be eligible for prizes, you must participate in at least 3 challenges during the season.
13. If there are any unresolved questions or discrepancies which BagTag participants cannot resolve, those participants
should refrain from exchanging BagTags until a moderator can assist in resolution.
14. The 2004 DISContinuum BagTag Challenge ends on December 31, 2004.
Prizes will be awarded on January, 2005.
15. 2004 BagTag Challenge Moderators are Jim Klem and Jay Nierodzik.
16. HAVE FUN and PLAY WELL!
Jim, did you say when we would get our hard cards/tags?
Don't 6 & 9 cancel themselves out? Or, whats the point of the 2nd sentance in #9?
That was the point of adding the 2nd sentence in #9, yes indeedee-doo.
What Jim was trying to say and Jim correct me if I am wrong is that....
You must accept any on-card challenge. If you do not have an on-card challenge you are obligated to accept an off-card challenge, otherwise you don't have to.
If you are involved in both an on-card and off-card challenge the on-card challenge takes precedent over the off-card challenge.
unless you play me
then its no challenge at all!
^_^ :P
Todd Fanning joined the club today & then Nasty Nate bought a bag tag. Those are the next 2 in line for tags.
Jim,
Could you list what tag goes to the next person. Todd & Nate want to know what tag they are going to get. They will not be at leagues next week but they will be there the following week.
Thanks
Im pretty sure i will be there on sunday and i could pick up mine and nates if you wanted, i see nate alot now that hes back from college,

Which Sunday? :P
sorry for the delay people.....
i had to remake them because they were not sturdy enough.
now, after several lamination tests, I feel they are quite durable. I just have to get the rest laminated - will be done by wednesday. mirth, brett, and i will disseminate them after wednesday.....

Agreed.
A thought I just had.... not really doable for 2004 any more since the cards will be done soon, but in 2005 we should put the year of the BTC on the cards.
good thought. I don't know why no one has thought of this before.
yup
last year's had the year on there, and one of the early versions of this year's BTs had it as well, but i simply didn't think to transfer it to the chosen design.
i would think that each year's BTs will be different, so it won't matter from a technical stance, but it would be nice to have the year shown as cool memory/collector thang.
i feel like paul schaffer in spinal tap (failed record promoter)...... B)
Does anyone have an address for Mitch Wallace?
PM/e-mail it to me if you do....
Thanks

Anyone, anyone? Bueller?
I think Mitch may live in the Deerfield/Lake Forest area but i'm not 100% positive. Maybe check a phone book. Jon may have it on the IO Cards as well.
Jay and I played for BagTags Sunday, keeping our respective #s 11 and 15.
I'm posting this because it may be the only time this year I am able to defend my Tag........ B)
thanks brett. Jim gave me his email address. we'll see how that pans out.....

Let the record show that, if nothing else, I was never OB. :D
Nor was Adrian (I don't think), who should kick some serious booty at Worlds in August. :o
If I still physically had tag #10, it would be Brett's. ;)
I had a chance to play Token Creek for the first time this past weekend. Token happens to be the new home course for Pat...who in turn holds the #6 tag. I apologize to the southeast Wisconsin and Northeast Illinois people that I couldn't take it from him. Correct me if I'm wrong, Pat, but we tied, thus the tag stays in Madison. Would have been real nice to leave tag #23 in Madison...
Pat: I'll be back this weekend. Care for a challenge?
Can someone please tell me exactly what happens at the end of the year? Clarification: Are there prizes, punishments, etc. for the high/low tag holders?
"Pat: I'll be back this weekend. Care for a challenge?"
Sure am, when and where? Want to play Hiestand Sunday?

Wow. I bet I lost it in the parking lot the day we were there.
I just emailed the guy.
Damon,
Bingman said he talked to the guy that has your bag tag. It was after the awards and everyone was gone by the time he told me. I can't remember who it was though.
For those of you who have used & abused bag tags, some clear tape works well to repair.

Has there been any talk of a bag tag challenge day at a course? The club would not have to pay out any prizes and people would not have to pay to play in it. If possible it would be awesome to play in the morning at one course and than finish at a different course.
QuoteHas there been any talk of a bag tag challenge day at a course? The club would not have to pay out any prizes and people would not have to pay to play in it. If possible it would be awesome to play in the morning at one course and than finish at a different course.
We have done a few of these although always at the same course. Playing two courses sounds like twice the fun. :D
Brian,
Welcome to the board! We've done several tag challenges this year. The California Tag Challenges were fun as heck. A 2 course challenge would be fun.
I lost no. 6 to Jim Klem on Saturday at Yulga. I now hold lucky no. 38! :)
Jim cheated... :)
...He had quality practice because of quality competition way back in May. :D
I'm not sure where all the tags are.
Tag #1 is out of circulation. Mike Glass has it somewhere.
I've heard Tag #2 is with Tim D.
Alex B. has #3
Brett C. has #4.
Good luck trying to get #3 off of Alex at Round Lake. He whooped me there last night 11-7. I heard on Sunday he shot 3 rounds & scored double digits all 3. One of them was spectacular I heard. Almost an 18. Not sure where he finished.
I have no idea where the rest of the single digit tags are.

Sean Butler got the next tag that was there
Fred Vroman got the one after that and you and Pat took the other ones
Ooooohhhhhhhh!
You are the same Brian that was in my (and Fred's) group for the second round.... OK, now understand. That was truly glow fun.
I got 6 and the Dr. got my 11. Got laid off this morning... no work till the 1rst of the year. looking for side work if anyone needs something carpentry related..
I also am willing to travel to find a lower tag. 1-5 where are ya?
Al Bingman has number 3 I'm told and he is at Round Lake
So, is my #4 worth anything? A mini? A towel? Cash?
i thought u had to defend it a minimum number of times to claim a prize
Quotei thought u had to defend it a minimum number of times to claim a prize
That is what I heard.
You only have to play for tags a certain minimum number of times (I think 3). You don't have to defend your current tag any minimum number of times. What I heard is that Tags 1,2,3 were worth a prize. I don't think 4 is worth anything.
Forget what you heard, Please refer to the rules posted in this topic on Jan 14th 2004 by Jim.
well, the prize for 4 will be up to the prize deciding people then i guess. i guess what i heard is that only the top 3 tags are worth some monetary prize. perhaps tag 4 wins a box of kleenex or something.
those very same rules also state that the Bag Tag MUST be present at the time of the challenge for the tag challenge to be valid.
Tag #4, the tag we were all trying to win or keep that day was present.
obviously, but your tag was not. and u can't play for tags if u don't have one.
Brett accepted the challenge and didn't squabble about getting my tag a few days later.
i'm just informing you of the rules which you were citing a second ago when you were asking for your prize.
Quote6. Bag Tag prize discussion.
Prizes were discussed. #1 Tag-> $50.00, #2 Tag-> $30.00, & #3 Tag-> $20.00.
And #68 gets nothing. Shucks, I was gyped!
#33 gets a speeding ticket i found out.
Here are the prizes being awarded. 5 spots as originally posted + the cash payouts for top 3 as decided in July.
You can pick you prizes up at leagues or the next club meeting.
1st-> $50.00
2nd-> $30.00
3rd-> $20.00
4th-> Hat & Premium Disc
5th-> Hat & DX Disc
END OF THE YEAR CHALLENGE!
MUST ATTEND!
18 HOLES, ROUND LAKE ILLINOIS, JANUARY 8TH, IF YOUR NOT THERE FOR THE CHALLENGE, YOUR TAG IS WORTH DIDDILY!
:)
