Title: 2004 BagTag Challenge
Post by: jim on November 24, 2003, 12:26:43 PM
I have been in contact with Jay about the 2004 BagTag Challenge. Seems like everyone wants a BTC; also, some feedback was given about the appearance and cost of the Tags.
So, unless there are any objections, Jay and I will get the Tags ready for January now (so that if the club structure or officers' positions change there won't be a lapse in current BagTags).

Attached is a sample of what the BagTags will look like. We will start out with 50. They will be color-printed on cardstock (60#) paper and laminated with clear, heavy-duty lamination plastic. They will have a 1/8" hole cut near the side of the Tag and will come with a plastic tie for easy attaching to your disc bag.

Feedback?

2004 DISContinuum BagTag Challenge

Our BagTag Challenge is a fun and exciting way to promote competitiveness and camaraderie among disc golf players in the area. The idea is simple. A limited run of BagTags is printed with incremental numbers on the front of each tag. These BagTags are then sold to disc golfers on a first-come/first-served basis. The goal of each BagTag owner is to obtain the lowest number BagTag by the end of the season (#1). At the end of the challenge, prizes are awarded to the top 5 BagTag holders.  Proceeds from the initial sales of the BagTags going toward prizes and sponsoring other DISContinuum events.

RULES

1.   Any BagTag number may challenge another.
2.   No handicapping.
3.   No divisional advantages or sanctuary.
BagTag owners are not broken down into divisions for DISContinuum BagTag Challenge purposes.
4.   BagTag owners must display their BagTag(s) where it can be easily seen. Concealment of BagTags is not allowed.
BagTags must be physically present to accept a challenge.
5.   It is mandatory to accept challenges at any singles tournament or singles league.
6.   The challenger and challengee must be on the same card, unless a specific agreement is made prior to tee-off.
7.   It is not mandatory to accept a challenge during casual rounds.
8.   If there are multiple BagTag owners on the same card during an event, a multiple challenge may be made.
For example: Ralph holds BagTag #5, Clyde holds BagTag #15, and Phyllis holds BagTag #9.
All are playing on the same card at an event. At the end of the round, Ralph shoots a 56, Clyde shoots a 58,
and Phyllis shoots a 50. Phyllis takes BagTag #5, Ralph takes BagTag #9, and Clyde keeps BagTag #15.
9.   Challenges on the same card take precedent over any cross-card challenges. Rule #6 takes precedence.
10.   Ties go to the defender of the lowest numbered BagTag.
11.   Valid for multiple-day events.
12.   To be eligible for prizes, you must participate in at least 3 challenges during the season.
13.   If there are any unresolved questions or discrepancies which BagTag participants cannot resolve, those participants
should refrain from exchanging BagTags until a moderator can assist in resolution.
14.   The 2004 DISContinuum BagTag Challenge ends on December 31, 2004.
Prizes will be awarded on January, 2005.
15.   2004 BagTag Challenge Moderators are Jim Klem and Jay Nierodzik.
16.   HAVE FUN and PLAY WELL!

Don't 6 & 9 cancel themselves out? Or, whats the point of the 2nd sentance in #9?

That was the point of adding the 2nd sentence in #9, yes indeedee-doo.

What Jim was trying to say and Jim correct me if I am wrong is that....

You must accept any on-card challenge. If you do not have an on-card challenge you are obligated to accept an off-card challenge, otherwise you don't have to.

If you are involved in both an on-card and off-card challenge the on-card challenge takes precedent over the off-card challenge.

yup
last year's had the year on there, and one of the early versions of this year's BTs had it as well, but i simply didn't think to transfer it to the chosen design.
i would think that each year's BTs will be different, so it won't matter from a technical stance, but it would be nice to have the year shown as cool memory/collector thang.
i feel like paul schaffer in spinal tap (failed record promoter)...... B)

I had a chance to play Token Creek for the first time this past weekend. Token happens to be the new home course for Pat...who in turn holds the #6 tag. I apologize to the southeast Wisconsin and Northeast Illinois people that I couldn't take it from him. Correct me if I'm wrong, Pat, but we tied, thus the tag stays in Madison. Would have been real nice to leave tag #23 in Madison...

no chance on the 17th     ;)

even with the recent lay - off

( i have to meet with my one main client who is returning from vacation on monday and a couple of firms)

(i also have a tuesday meeting with a firm i used to work for)

i was scheduled for vacation  7/19 - 7/23 and all i was going to do was
visit my inlaws in central IL

i had mailed the check (to gary lewis) the day i got the bad news
and asked the wife about not playing she said go ahead and
play  (how cool is that ?)

im thinking that ill come back from downstate and try to play
crystal lake (i got a place to stay if i want - my bro lives at the intersection of 14 and 176 ) not sure if ill play sat or sun

its all up in the air   $$$$$  is somewhat of a factor but
i really  want to play   (as usual)  the mrs knows that i support the
north side club as i refer to you all so its not out of left field that
i would want to attend

Has there been any talk of a bag tag challenge day at a course?  The club would not have to pay out any prizes and people would not have to pay to play in it.  If possible it would be awesome to play in the morning at one course and than finish at a different course.

We have done a few of these although always at the same course. Playing two courses sounds like twice the fun.  :D

Brian,
Welcome to the board! We've done several tag challenges this year. The California Tag Challenges were fun as heck. A 2 course challenge would be fun.

I'm not sure where all the tags are.

Tag #1 is out of circulation. Mike Glass has it somewhere.

I've heard Tag #2 is with Tim D.
Alex B. has #3
Brett C. has #4.

Good luck trying to get #3 off of Alex at Round Lake. He whooped me there last night 11-7. I heard on Sunday he shot 3 rounds & scored double digits all 3. One of them was spectacular I heard. Almost an 18. Not sure where he finished.

I have no idea where the rest of the single digit tags are.

Actually, Sean B. struggled a bit that night. I think JoJo and Shawn F. had the two highest tags at the end of the night. I left with tag #15...same one I started with.

You only have to play for tags a certain minimum number of times (I think 3).  You don't have to defend your current tag any minimum number of times.  What I heard is that Tags 1,2,3 were worth a prize.  I don't think 4 is worth anything.

well, the prize for 4 will be up to the prize deciding people then i guess.  i guess what i heard is that only the top 3 tags are worth some monetary prize.  perhaps tag 4 wins a box of kleenex or something.

those very same rules also state that the Bag Tag MUST be present at the time of the challenge for the tag challenge to be valid.
