I'm going to Safari this Sat, weather permitting, but I don't know if I'll make League on Sun; I know I can't make the meeting. Can I give my $ to Brett or Jon on Sat?
Damon,
I can bring the money to the meeting. Make the check out to Discontinuum.
Also, don't forget that renewals are $40.00 for ams this year.

Seven members showed up for today's meeting:
Brett, Jon, Becky, Madissen, Daniel, Paul, and Jim.
Here's what happened:
-new Bylaws were adopted with one revision (entire updated Bylaws will be posted soon)
-Mirth was nominated in absentia for President
-Brett was nominated for Secretary
-Jojo was nominated in absentia for Treasurer
-Ice Bowl will happen as a weekly best shot doubles event at the new Wildwood course with temporary baskets, tentatively on February 15th
-Staff will be appointed by members elected at January Club meeting
-BagTag designs were voted on and chosen with minor modification
-Membership prices discussed ($5 discount to high school and/or college students) but left for new Board to vote on
-Illinois Open discussed; there will be 3 stages of the tourney this year at 3 different courses (Streamwood, Crystal Lake, Round Lake); all will be C-Tier events, but only the finals event (3rd) will be a DISContinuum event.
-Pizza was yummy
Thanks, I appreciate the nomination but I do not wish to be on the ballot for President. Treasurer only.
Mirth can have the Treasurer position. As much as I would like to I just dont have the time to put forth the effort needed. When DR DYE takes off and I can quit my daytime job, I will have more time and will consider it then. Sorry.
The meeting was very productive.
Some of the info will be the same as Jim posted above.
1. Bylaws-> Vote passed to adopt new bylaws. There was 1 minor revision made. Jim will e-mail Mirth this revision.
2. Nominations for club officials. Official vote will be taken at January's meeting.
Mirth-President
Jojo-Treasurer
Brett-Secretary
We also tossed around names but were'nt for sure if people would like to be on the board. Damon, Myk, Jay, Jon?
So at this point Mirth would like to be Treasurer. Anyone want to run for a position. We will be taking online nominations.
3. 2004 Club Memberships
$10.00 without bagtag
$15.00 with bagtag
Discussed the idea about a $5.00 reduction of cost to high school students & colleget students with ID. Left for voted board to discuss & vote.
4. Bag Tags
Voted for a picture to use & how to attach to bags. Jim is heading this task.
5. Official Ice Bowl will be altered but not official yet.
Sunday, February 15th, 2004
Regular DISContinuum Best Shot Doubles will be moved to Wildwood
9 Hole Course will be set up using temp baskets
Jim will use feedback to alter course is needed.
Regular Best Shot Rules & Entry Fees
Must bring donated can foods to play. (Donations will go to PADS)
6. 2004 Schedule
Club officers will put together a schedule when voted into office.
7. Leagues updated on Fall League Thread
8. Safari is updated on Safari Thread
9. Wildwood will be tested at February 15th Doubles
10. Finances were discussed
Thanks for going into more detail Brett.
I just want to encourage more folks to step up and help run the club.
Now that the Bylaws are set up, meetings and processes should go much more smoothly. Much less room for fighting about details too.
DISContinuum needs YOUR help to keep running well and providing events for our area.
I would like to see the new bylaws before agreeing to be an officer again. Any chance we could have a look at 'em?
Yup. As soon as I get the updated copy from Jim, although I have an idea what the revision is....
To sum up:
the Board of Directors and Officers are no longer separate bodies.
The Board of Directors is now comprised of 3 elected positions:
President
Treasurer
Secretary
Other positions are now considered Staff and are appointed, not elected:
Webmaster(s)
Three (3) Operations Committee positions
Course Liaisons for Bevier, Round Lake, and Wildwood (others?)
Another thing to consider if you are thinking about running for a club official position.
Things have been trimmed down this year.
Safari has been eliminated
Ice Bowl has been modified into a regular Best Shot Sunday.
Organized Summer Wednesday League has been eliminated.
For my sanity I think there will only be a max of 2 work days @ Fairfield this year. Maybe 1 if the Scout Troop takes care of business. If I can get the bobcat again, it takes minimal effort & not a lot of people.
I would suggest to the board to have only a few work days at Bevier as well.
4 Tournaments this year.
We already have volunteers to run our 4 Tournaments
Names were discussed but might change.
1. HPC Memorial
2. Widdershins
3. Blast
4. Illinois Open
Jim said he'd run one. Mirth said he'd run one. Jon & Brett are running the IO. That leaves one other tournament for someone to run. I might run it if it's not conflicting with baseball. We've learned a lot by hosting 2 PDGA Events. We should know by now what works & does not work.
Leagues are being taken care of. The League schedule has been reduced down to approximately 44 weeks. All major holiday weekends are being avoided.
Positions are defined & should be easier to follow.
This should be a much more relaxing year compared to 2003. By trial & error we have learned a lot by our mistakes & successes. Instead of stressing about getting a million things done, the board this year might be able to launch us up another level by planning during 2004.
Please consider running for a position.
