Jim,
Has that skillshot been donated for a league prize? If it's 100% done deal, i'll start advertising it.

Looks like snow tomorrow & winds around 15MPH. Looks like a fun day & I hope to see you out there.

Brett - think you could get the span measurement for the new bridge tomorrow? I went & priced lumber last night and want to make sure that 12' is long enough...

Shouldn't cost more than $100 to rebuild the bridge.

won't make it tomorrow as I have a rehearsal for a concert I'm doing on the 11th, which means I won't make it next week either, so y'all have fun. I plan on showing up on the 18th if the weather's not too ridiculous.

I had Bevier all to myself this afternoon; was going to go to Parkside but got a late start. Played 24, was going for 36 but figured I shouldn't stress my arm that much. Actually managed some forehands in a slightly different arm position that didn't kill me, though not as accurate, but there's hope - actually parked #4 with one, which nearly brought a tear to my eye... put 4 discs in the water, but they were all recoverable.

Brett, thanks for hanging onto that Skillshot; if I'm coming on the 18th I'll let you know.

Brett, yes, I believe that's right. One Skillshot upper/lower. I'll try to remember to bring the discs-for-sale.
Mirth, it seems that power tools motivate you.  =)

Supposed to be Big snow overnight. I'll try to get to bevier early and shovel.

I thought that someone had donated or said they were going to donate 1 skillshot as a prize for leagues. If they donated 2, that is even better. I however don't want to advertise until i'm 100% that it is a done deal.

I will help measure the bridge. I have a tape in my car already. I'd like to hold out to hear what WPD says about building a bridge. This is probably a slow time of the year for them & they might be able to get out there to build one. They probably have all the material needed to build the bridge as well. I'm not in any rush to get another bridge built. It was hard enough building one in good weather. I'd rather wait until the spring.

How does that work, one for upper and one for lower? League prizes are overall points and not divisional.... Just curious

Diron,

Unofficial Week #4 results:

1st Jason W./Diron -2  $10.50 each
2nd Pat/Jon             E  $4.50 each
3rd Becky/Todd     +2

CTP of $6 won by Jason W.

Ace pool is up to $37

It was very windy but we all had a good time. Pat and I were very consistant. We shot our even with one bogey and one birdie. Becky and Todd were in first place with 7 or 8 holes to play. Becky had the best drive of all us on a couple of holes.

With snow still on the ground, and more to come, we will continue to play the cement tees twice each week until the snow starts to melt. It's too hard to find the alternate tee markers with this much snow. We will play holes A,B, & C on occasion & with a mix of cements as well.

I will try to get out early this coming Sunday so we can have some cleared pads as well.

Note for next fall - mark the alternates before the ground freezes with a stake or something.

QuoteI will try to get out early this coming Sunday so we can have some cleared pads as well.

I'm not sure if that's the complete issue, because we could put a flag in the ground pretty close to where the marker is. I think more of a problem is that it is hard enough for groups with all relatively new people to follow the course when the alternate tee numbers aren't covered. Even if they were marked, it'd be near impossible for new people to follow since they wouldn't be able to see the tee number.

ahhhh....that's where you going with this. Theorhetically, I suppose someone could. It seems like there's a lot of ice out there to chip through, but if someone wanted to, I guess its possible. If they were marked, that is.

According to Jim, as said in this thread, (http://discontinuum.org/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=981&view=findpost&p=10472) its going to be 4-7" of snow with low tempatures. So who's going to be there this weekend, cause I plan on bundling up, breaking out the ribbon and coming on out to leagues *applause* :D
Title: WINTER LEAGUE 2004
Post by: mirth on February 05, 2004, 07:07:42 AM
Good! I plan on getting to the course super early with a snow shovel.

Oh, I believe he's talking the 3-6" predicted for today... then add that on top of the ~5" we've received over the last 10 days. Should be fun!

Thanks to whomever shoveled & salted the teepads early today or yesterday. (jim?)

I went out this afternoon with the intention of doing just that but ended up doing minor cleanup work on the pads because they were so well cleaned already.

The snow is 6" deep in the shallow spots people, its tough trudging through it.
