IOS #76 - Oswego Open

Eagle Ridge, Oswego, IL
June 4 & 5, 2016
PDGA C/B Tier

Eagle Ridge is the home course of the Fox Valley Metro Disc Golf Club. We'd like to thank them along with the Oswegoland Park District for continually improving this course. The tight woods challenge players to keep it in the fairway and the open holes gives players a breather before heading back into the woods. The elevated pin on hole 9 has tested many players nerves while putting.

This event will be two rounds of 21 holes.

More details including divisions, entry fees, schedule, etc. can be found on the details page on illinoisopenseries.com.

Registration Information

You can pre-register for this event through midnight June 2 either online at http://illinoisopenseries.com/preregister-ios76 or or by mailing in your registration (and make your checks payable) to:

Mike Krupicka
1119 Sara Lane
Naperville, IL 60565

Note that there is a $5 fee to register on the day of the event.

Parking Info:
Please consider parking at Violet Patch Park on Rt. 25. This is located at the western entrance to the course. Parking in the lot in front of the Civic Center is reserved for swimming pool patrons.

What Division should I play?
If you have a PDGA rating you should play in a division based on that rating. If you do not have a rating, here are recommended divisions based on typical scores on the short layout at Oswego:
Score    Division
< 50    Am1
51-53    Am2
54-57    Am3
58+    Am4

Last post by pickax - April 10, 2016, 11:23:09 AM
Thank you all for coming out to Lemon Lake Saturday. I am glad that everyone arrived safely was able to participate. We had 225 players participate.

Congratulations to J-Town and reclaiming the championship. That as a very impressive and well-earned victory. The difference between second and third place was a single putt! Tough battle there.

Team Scoring
1st J-town 748
2nd Discontinuum 1604
3rd Disc Golfer's Union 1611
4th Basket Cases 2328
5th Birdbrain 3077
6th Fox Valley Metro 3324
7th Lucky Shots 3412

Full results are posted on my web site. http://krupicka.org/discgolf/16challengeResults.html

Thank you all for helping make this event happen. It is a lot of work, so I am grateful for all that step in to help out from checkin to tags and everything in between. Jay and Deb, thank you again for hosting and feeding us. Shawn McCarthy and John Cleaveland, thank you for sacrificing being able to play and help with the behind the scenes stuff.

I also wanted to extend my appreciation for the plaque and tags from each club that I was given. I am glad to work with all of you on providing opportunities for organized disc golf competition. I hope to see many of you out at the Illinois Open Series or other events this year.

I have already been making notes for improving things next year. We know that having this event in early spring is tough weather wise (We are all very glad there was no rain). While it would be nice to do this in warmer weather later in the season, there are a number of reasons we need to stick to the early spring date. Even having it as late as the second week of April, we ran into a number of players who opted to play in other PDGA events. It is also easier for us to be able to use the Lemon Lake facility when the demand for the courses is lower.

If you have any other feedback or ideas, please send them my way.
