I might be jumping the gun here a little bit but I recieved a voicemail from the superintendent of parks in Schaumburg today.  He advised me that Schaumburg has some money aside for a new Disc Golf course but they haven't decided where to put it yet.  He gave me his information and said that any feedback would be appreciated.

Does anyone have any contacts that have developed a course before?  Anyone know a good spot in Schaumburg...

WOW!! That's amazing! I have sent 3 emails to them asking if they ever had intentions of putting in a disc golf course. Maybe it's because I was too passive in my emails but, I never received a reply. That's great information to hear that they are actually considering it.

There are a couple of parks I have been eyeing. The problem is though, most are already pretty set in their uses either softball, baseball, soccer and even football practice. Knowing there is interest though, I will actively be searching out parks now and actually writing down names of them as right now I don't know any names.

Off hand a possible park would be the one at the corner of Weathersfield and Springensguth (gooth??) Only problem is I'm sure they could only get nine in there. It might be an interesting 9 with water and the trees that are there, but, It's also a very multi-use park already. They have a lot of junior sports practices there.

I also know around a couple of their facilities Meineke Rec. and Community Rec. Center. (MRC and CRC there is a lot of room that seems to just go unused. Bigggest problem is, Schaumburg has a bunch of parks, but, they are a bunch of little parks. Nothing big stands out off hand.

I'd really like to see something other than 9 holes go in here. I'd also like to see someone with at least a little DG experience be designing this course. I don't know who that person is though. Hopefully Schaumburg will really be willing to let an outside source in to help design it. I don't have any experience, but, since I live in the town, please let the SI of parks know I'm willing to help out however possible.

Please pm me if the SI really wants my contact information.

the heck with finding a good disc golfer to put in the course.  just find a couple high schoolers who have played at least 3 or 4 times.  that seems to work well.

Well, if all they are going to do is a chip shot nine holer, they might as well use anyone who wants to do it. Hopefully, they are on the right track looking for help though. All I really hope though is its someone who knows the game. They don't have to necissarily be good at it, as long as they think, "If I were good, what would I want?"

I don't know anyone that has designed a course.  But if you need some info about it Innova has a good section set aside for it here :Course Design

Relax brother.  I have left a message for the SI and I'm waiting to hear back from him.  They are in the very beginning stages of development.  They are looking for a location first and then they need to evaluate cost and other factors that are associated with building a new course.
