Afternoon everyone,

I'm new here and just wanted to introduce myself...I'm John. I played a real course for the first time last weekend down in Pensacola, FL while on vacation and I now, needless to say, have caught the bug. My brother in law set me up with a few discs so I hope to get out to the suburbs soon and start exploring all the courses around town. I had no idea there were so many! Anyway, I live downtown in Lincoln Square and will be looking to get out to the suburbs on the weekends soon. If any of you want to make any course recs for a beginner, I'd appreciate it. I'll be poking around here seeing what kind of info I can soak up in the meantime.

Thanks!

You may want to try the course at IIT. It is a fun course in an urban setting. Check out the course directory on PDGA.com for details.

Welcome to the sport and the board...

Unfortunately, there is not much near you.  There is a decent 9 hole course on the IIT campus near U.S. Cellular Park.  Its accessible by the Red line.

Thanks guys...yeah, I know there's not much around, but I'm prepared to drive out to the suburbs when I can. I read about the IIT course and the reviews it got...not what I had in mind, but I still might check it out. Tell me, which 18 hole course is the best within a thirty mile distance?

I think the only one within 30 miles from lincoln square is Madison Meadows in Lombard.  If you go to the 40 mile mark, you can probably make it to waukegan or the joliet area.

I see there's a couple on the map like the Park Ridge/ Edgebrook course...what's that one all about?

Edgebrook is an 18 hole ball golf course with baskets.  This is a pay to play course.  Although this is not a course for beginners, you will have the option to rent a golf cart, which is nice.  You should call before you go to ensure the baskets are still in the ground.

Here are the prices & details.  http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=1226

Morning folks,

I've recently moved to the Highland Park area and was hoping to find some locals that play the 9 holes around this area regularly. Please hit me up if so. I'm about 2 miles from Fink and Keller, Watts and Danny Cunniff are short drives.

Cheers!
