Quoteplease not

sept 11
Why not? I realize there are 14 PDGA tournaments on Sept 11, but the closest one is Kalamazoo. I don't see any other related conflicts.

There's unsantioned tournaments in Stevens Point, WI and Morton (Peoria), IL but I don't think those will conflict with our tournament either.

We were looking for a weekend in September & the 11th was the best date we could find that worked for the 5 of us.

The first thing I thought of once I realized what you were talking about is all the silly "If we do/don't X, then the terrorists have won." slogans. Even though I think they are silly, at the same time I think that I don't want to let terrorists take away a perfectly good Saturday from me.

I also think back to that week in 2001 and watching the destruction over and over. Then I played a tournament that weekend at Madeline Bertrand and slept great that night. Best I had slept all week. Disc golf helped me get my attitude back together a bit.

We all need to remember and memorialize in our own way, but if we don't play disc golf on the anniversary of every tragedy, then we won't have any days left to play.

Myk

What happened on 9/11 was a very tragic experience for all of America, no less the world.  However, I believe that it also served as a reminder that we should never forget to live life to the fullest.  Including playing disc golf with a bunch for friendly people on the day of a tragic event.  Yes, that belief is not for everyone, and I don't expect everyone to adopt it.  It's just my personal philosophy.
