Just got a call today from Lake County Forest Preserve. They have committed  to installing a 24 hole championship calibur course. It will have long and short cement tees with 2 baskets on each hole. The short baskets will be blue & the long baskets will be red. This will be a pay to play course. The location will be announced at a later date. They have money design as well & I mentioned several names for them to contact. I'd like to see John Houck design it & they are going to contact him. This is sweet! :)

I can't believe it.  Now all we need is Round Lakes Park people to give a damn about Fairfield.

Lake County Forest Preserve will take heat off of the Park Districts to quench disc players desire for courses in their community. Creating a State of the Art Course In Lake County is Viable. Making sure that it succeeds is crucial to long term success of sport in Lake County. Supporting a World Class Course seems to be the best step.

I thought that for a moment that some of the 1st person soapbox opinions may have taken root in someones brain at the Forest Preserve. No avail I will keep pushing, ...Let facts speak for themselves...

LCFP has 3 facilities for ball golf total 72 Holes and Millions of $ Invested.
LCFP has three facilities devoted to dogs not people and Thousands of $ invested.

No Disc Golf...

Lake County has Several Locations that would work for great course.

Email some one and let them know your view point I Have and will continue to do so.

In less than a few minutes you can send out an email to these people and let them know how you feel.

I would like to know why my Tax Dollars go towards Ball Golf Courses and not 1 eighteen Hole disc golf course is in Lake county.

Im also confused because it seems that their are Three Locatons where Dogs have seperate space devoted to them but not Disc Golf ?

I am not happy about this and would like to know if this issue has ever been brought up before to the Lake County Forest Preserve ?

to anyone copying & pasting the three rhetorical questions, I'd suggest putting non proper nouns in lowercase and making sure grammar/spelling is correct....

Thank You...for Grammar Lesson.

...most people forgive errors in email for the most part. Also latenight  posting can be difficult enough and when combined with a couple of cold ones , you get the idea.

I feel that Lake County Forest Preserve is going to really give a green Light to Disc Golf in Lake County. I would like to think that the Talent Pool in Discontinuum could tactfully put together a solid proposal or suggestions for the course or courses without friction or infighting.

When Lake County gives the green light would it be right for them to exclude Lake County palyers/residents in producing Ideas and Insight ?

Does Discontinuum have a solid group of players that specialize in Course Design?

I don't think there is anyone in this area that has experience designing courses. Not that it matters. The 2 most recent courses installed have been designed by high school kids. Maybe I need to go back to high school for my disc golf course design degree.

I would love to get involved with the Lake County Forest Preserve. I don't have the time. Their meetings are during the day & they have many different levels in their structure. I heard there are some insiders getting this going but I don't know where they are currently.

either way, they were a couple chuckers who knew nothing about disc golf.  not the people i would pick to use a bunch of money i had allocated to installing a course.

In most cases, I think Dan has explained our problem with the county forest preserves. They take the sport with so little seriousness, they are willing to give it out as a school project rather than invest in doing it right. I think a lot of this is because disc golfers are kind of looked at as the skateboarders of the eighties. They don't really have a clue what the sport is about so they consider us more of a nuisance than anything else.

I don't put anything past our government bodies, but, I don't see them giving course design for their new multi-million dollar championship golf-couse to a College Phys. ed class for their thesis project. Having said that, I must also say, it's also very unfair to compare anything disc golf and park district with ball golf. No matter what money they may have spent on a ball golf course, it's a proven revenue generator. Maybe not a gold mine in all cases, but, it does generate revenue. Most will see disc golf the exact opposite, "We have to do all of this upkeep for what? For Frisbees?"

Heck, I'm constantly emailing the Schaumburg Park district about putting in a disc golf course, mostly I just write and ask if they have even considered it. Out of 4 letters so far I haven't even gotton a "NO" in reply. They are flat out ignoring the subject all-together.

Old School Forest Preserve. The South part of that land is mostly unused/undeveloped accept for maybe some horse trails. The central and north part of the land is heavily used for picnicing and the like but the south end is very inviting to disc golf.

Dan, Mike, & I trew some object golf at the campground the LCFP purchased off of 120 near Fairfield. It is ideal for disc golf. Elevation, Water, Parking Lot, Facilities, Open, & Heavily wooded areas. There is nothing else there. Lake County needs a course that is exclusively for disc golf & there is no other traffic to interfere.
