McHenry needs a course

I moved recently from Crystal Lake, which has an overcrowded Lippold Park and a super short toss n' putt at Hannah Beardsley Middle School, to McHenry, which has...nothing!  I'm betting there's land that's open and could be used.  Any McHenry-ites here that have looked into this previously?  I'd like to start writing letters, but I don't know much about the surrounding area.

we talked about it when we were in high school (1997) but never went through with it.  Knox Park by the barn and there is a park by the Fox River.  It seems that there aren't large enough parks for a 18 hole course.  If you want to look right outside McHenry, Harrison Benwell in Wonder Lake would be a great place for a course.

That is in Crystal Lake and is a really really short course that is poorly laid out.  

The best place out be at Harrison Benwell in Wonder Lake.
