Holes A, B & C are finished!!!  The Henry Pfau Callahan DGC at Bevier Park is now officially a 12-hole course. With 3 tees each, that's 36 holes!

Woo-hoo!

THANKS SO MUCH to all those who came out to help today and the past few weeks! Adrian, Mirth, Brett, Adrian Jr., Paul, Chud, Danny, Al G., Jon, Beck, and Maddison - THANK YOU!

Today, we:

-reset basket A

-sunk basket B

-resunk basket C

-reset basket #1

-spread woodchips

-wacked tons o weeds

-reinforced branches on walking paths

-cleaned out the creek

-removed stumps

-removed several bags of garbage

We used 10 bags of cement, added rebar, and more depth to the wooded holes, so that valdalism and theft will be greatly reduced.

THANKS to Kevin Lenth for re-welding old basket #1, which is now on C. Great job!!!

I am very proud to be a part of this. THIS is what promoting disc golf is about: putting in more holes for more fun and future generations of players!  The course is ready for action and should play very well. Enjoy!

Jim is right. If you want improvements to the course, e-mail the park district. I have e-mailed several times. The more interest we show the better chance we have of getting something done. Jim-post the e-mail address again so everyone can e-mail them. Thanks

Bill,

I didn't realize you lived in Tejas. How long did you live there? I lived in Houston for 2 years. We then moved here from Houston. I wish I had played disc golf while I lived there. Had no clue what disc golf was till I moved up here. Houston has a ton of course. Oh well.

Test

I was checking to see how this picture looked on the forum. You can't put big files on so it is hard to make them look good. I would like to try to add 1 hole per week starting with #1 with a description of each hole if it works.

Jim,

That sounds cool. I bought this digital camera from my dad last year & haven't had much time to experiment. I figured this would be a good way to learn. I'll keep working as well to lighten up the pics too. I love the websites that has a description of each hole & pics. Looks very cool.

Jim,

On the pdga page it states that the facilities are open summer open. I take that to be the restrooms. Others may think that is the course itself. You may want to change the description.

Just thought i'd update this. Bevier has 27 Holes now but only 9 baskets. Each hole has 2 sets of alternate tees marked by stone circles. The first set runs 10 thru 18 & the second set is 19 thru 27. These alternate tee markers have really lenghtened the course. I think the big guns like this a little more. It has definitely made the course more challenging!

Jim[--On the PDGA Course Directory, it states the facilities are open summer only. I know this means that the restrooms are only open in the summer but I think many others might think the course is closed the rest of the year. You might also want update the 27 holes as well.

BEES on #9. I was cleaning out the stream on #9 today. There is a nest of bees on the south side of the stream. There is a hole on the side of the dirt that they are using for a hive. I was stung 4 times & it hurt like a mother!@#$%^.

Jim posted after the Bevier Blast about the possibility of adding 9 baskets at Bevier or having the park district add another course. Well, Mike Trigg's son is a student @ Jefferson MS where I teach. He's not in my class but I see him every day in the locker room. I've been getting on him to play disc golf. He said he doesn't really like it. I told him I would teach him. I also told him to go home today & tell his dad we wanted a new 18 hole course with Mach v's. I'll have to wait & see what he says Monday when we get back to school.
