Yep, Hole 16.
It is a small 4-foot long bench, 20" high, nearly 12" wide.
Legs are 17" in the ground, so it should be sturdy.

I will speak with Adrian about the possibilities of future bridge upgrades and/or more benches.

Awesome bench Jim, thanks!

Played the other day and saw that someone had already played strongman with the bench.
That made me realize just how small it really is.
I guess everything looks bigger in my shed.   :o

Bench #2 is nearly ready:
twice the size, with a backrest, and will be much more sturdy.
The concrete fairy might also visit the benches soon.   8)

Question:  Would folks rather have both benches on Hole 16 or should one be placed at Hole 13?
Somewhere else?

Hole 13 would be cool

I think 13 also. Thanks Jim!

If you want any help putting it in let me know.

If you want anyone to test sit on the bench, let me know.  ;)

New bench is done.
My son is SUPPOSED to help me install it this Thursday (August 28).
We plan on being at the park @ 6:30pm if anyone would like to help.

New bench is on Hole 13.
It is not in the ground because we didn't get out there until 8 friggin pm and we did not bring pick axes.
The ground is rock hard and tree roots are everywhere.
We wet the ground with several gallons of water, but it was really tough, especially in the dark.

So, I am asking for some assistance to get this bench in the ground.
I will be out at Bevier this Saturday morning at 8am (tomorrow).
I will have 3 shovels, bug spray, and water.
With 3 people, we should be able to finish in under 2 hours.
If you can spare a little time and sweat, I'd really appreciate it.

.... If there were any way you could delay putting it in till Sunday I'm sure you could get all the volunteers you need, myself included, after doubles.

After doubles on Sunday is good for me. I was planning on staying to do a little work on hole #16 anyway. :Whaxatk:

jimklem

Sunday after doubles would be fine.
THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!
I just hope nobody messes with the bench before then.

Also, I removed the small bench from Hole 16 to make some modifications to it (someone had thrown it back into the woods).

Does anyone have any concrete? Anything not cemented down will end up ripped out and thrown in the woods.

mirth

I believe Jim plans on using concrete for securing the benches this time....

Thanks to all who helped out today with installing the bench on hole 13. We used some of the excess dirt to level under 13's pad (and moved it back about 5'), we also cleared out the fairway of 13, 16's fairway and green area, and also took advantage of the dry creek bed to get some of the larger logs and other things out.

We had created quite a pile of garbage by the time we were done on hole 16, but didn't have a trash bag.

Here's a photo of the new bench. Sorry about the thumb....

Thanks for the pic, Mirth; more to come.
MUCH THANKS also to Chris, Brandon, Tom S., MIke C., and Mirth for enduring the heat and doing some mighty hard work. That bench is about 22" under ground with support.
The improvements to the teepad on Hole 13 make a HUGE difference.
Hole 16 is very different. Clean, pretty, but possibly easier (for an experienced lefty perhaps).   ::)
LOTS of garbage picked up too!

I took care of the trash pile today. The bridge is broken again.

mirth

I saw it was broken last Sunday. The good news is that WPD will be building a replacement bridge. The bad news is its unknown when that will be.

Whatever you got to get you to 294 north. Exit at Buckley Rd. and turn right. Turn left at Waukegan Rd (2nd light) and it will merge with 41. Shortly after the merge you will exit at Grand Ave. Ramp is in the LEFT lane. Turn right on Grand and then left on Green Bay Rd. Right on Yorkhouse Rd. Park is on the right after stop sign at McAree Rd. Park in the west side of the lot near the bridge to the tennis courts. Hole one is just over the bridge before you get to the tennis courts.
