How does Sunday August 19th work for everyone? We could work from say 8 to 10 or 11 then play a round of bag tags. If there are 10+ I'm down. If it's just a couple of us we can play. I don't want this to be 2-3 of us showing up and doing the work.

I'm attending a Bachelor party the 18th, will do my best to get out and help! I have about 5 or so people not apart of the club who may be up for lending a hand, Could be a good opportunity to recruit a few new member in the process.

I met with my park contact at Bevier this morning. The good news for us is that the project that was going to alter the course near 15, 16, 17, & 18 is no longer going to happen.

They are going to clean up hole #12 on the corner that is blocking the right side. That should be done sometime next week.

I am writing up a proposal to make some improvments to the course. This includes the addition of a couple of holes and the modification of a few others.

This is what I sent to the park district.

Here is a list of course improvement items we'd like to do.
I'll send a 2nd e-mail with a picture of the hole additions and
changes from my Iphone.

__________________________________________________________________________________

Budget 21 tee signs once the course alterations are finalized. The
origanl 9 signs would stay in place. The new tee signs would be
installed on all 21 holes making navigation clear. Players could still
play the original 9 holes but have the option to play the entire 21
hole course without confustion of the layout.

Budget the installation of 7 cement tee pads in the futrue.
Add long tee on hole #1.
Convert rubber to cement on holes #13, 16, 17.
3 new holes would need tees.
*If this were done the club and volunteers would improve the tees on
holes 6 thru 11 across the street.*

Hole #1
We'd like to add an artificial elevated pin on this hole. I have
attached a picture. The club is willing to pay and construct this.
This takes the weakest hole on the course and add a new challenge.

After Hole 16 we'd like to install a new hole back in the southeast
corner. *The club has an extra basket that we would donate.* I have
added it to the diagram. Some clearing would have to be done and a
walkway to the next hole would have to be cleared too.

Current Hole #17 would have to be altered a bit. I have the new tee
area marked on the map. Some clearing would have to take place. This
hole would become one of the signature holes on the course.

After current Hole #18 we'd like to add a new hole that plays on the
edge of the old soccer field.

Depending on other long term future plans with the soccer field we'd
like to add a hole coming back across the soccer field back towards
the parking lot. The club would be willing to donate this basket as
well. We would like to do an elevated island type green.

*If all the work is done the club would be willing to purchase 12
number plates from DGA. This would cover all the baskets that do not
have them. This would help with navigation and would eliminate
confusion of hole numbers on the course.
http://www.discgolf.com/number-plate-conversion-kit/  They are $30
each and are pretty easy to install. We'd take care of the order and
installation.*

The park district did some necessary clearing on 12 and 13 which have made these holes MUCH more enjoyable.  Also, the volunteers who helped out yesterday made the rest of the course look quite a bit nicer as well.  This course keeps improving.

Great news. The Park District is going to mow wider on holes 6 thru 11. He said he'd get to it sometime this week.

I'm meeting with them next week about possible changes to the course.

Here is the reply I got from WPD today about the mowing on 6 thru 11.

We did some additional mowing today; In some cases not as much as you would like however better than before.

They did a really good job of expanding the mowed areas around all 6 baskets. Each fairway pretty much doubled in size. Its not perfect but way better than before.

Sweet! It was pretty frustrating to lose and search for a disc INSIDE 10 meters of the basket. Can't wait to play it

I just met with 2 of the main contacts at the course.

They really like all the ideas and want to go forward with them. Looking to start work early spring 2013. They are going to try to add concrete tee pads to the budget for all holes (old & new) on the regular park side. The budget could be an issue. The club is going to address the tee pads across the road.

Epic and legendary!!  Bevier can be one of the finest courses in the area.  Here is an afro guy...   O0

I'm looking at making the new altered #17 or new #18 a righty hyzer type shot. The other willl be fairly striaght or a slow left turnng hole. The end of the course (#19 & #20) will have 2 left to right turning shots. That is the current #18 and the temp hole that has been played from the soccer field to the Southeast corner.

I'm looking for ideas for hole #21 (The last hole). It will be somewhere on the soccer field playing back towards the baseball diamond/pond/pavillion etc...   I'm considering an island type hole surrounded by rocks and filled with wood chips. Another idea I had was something simlar to the mound hole at Parkside.  I'd prefer to get a hole over 300 feet since Bevier only has 4 holes over 300. I need to do some measuring to see if that is possible. The last idea I had was something similar to the bamboo hole at USDGC. I've seen bamboo and fence used for obstacles. Anyone have ideas? I'm looking for pictures.

One other thought. The short/straight pin on #18 will be relocated to #1. The orignal 9 will have the original baskets accept #5. The current Mach 2 that is #1 will be moved to one of the new holes.
