It took less than 48 hours for someone to go out there and bend the pole. I had some 10 foot conduit pipe in the garage that we used. I was hoping it would be strong enough not to get bent. It was not strong enough. Does anyone have any stronger pipe laying around that is 10 feet or longer?

Brett, hopefully it was just the really strong winds we had yesterday and not some asshat with nothing better to do.

CEValkyrie

It was definitely some D-Bag that did it. It was hard just bending the pole back. I'm getting some pole from a plumber that can only be bent by a machine. That will take care of the problem.

Taking said pole and applying it to said D-bag would also be a nice solution.

Bevier Park work day Saturday June 15th. We'll be meeting at 8am and hope to be done by 10am. Plans are to install #17's basket and move #19 across the creek. A very small area for the green on #19 needs to be cleared. We hope to see you there. Please consider joining DISContinuum Disc Golf Club if you have not done so.

Thanks to all who worked on Bevier. I was able to get there Sunday and check it out. The new 17 and 18 are very cool.  When the concretes go in I would love to see two of them wider than the current pads. On 16 and new 18 the pads are very righty centric. If the pad extended 6-12" to the left it would allow a lefty a much better look and much better opportunity to bend a shot around the trees.  The course is looking good.

CEValkyrie

The plans are 6X12 tees on all the holes on the east side of the park. That would match the other concrete tees out there.

How did you like the rubber pads across the street?

I think the rubber pads are about 3 or 4 feet wide so a 6 foot concrete should allow a left more room to craft a shot on those holes.

I thought the pads were great.  It was dry so I didn't test them in bad conditions.  In any case, they felt great.  The grass outside of the mowed fairway is pretty high.  I actually threw ok (for me) on that side. I was playing two discs so I could get in 36 holes while walking 18.  I had one 4 on 8 and two 5's on 11.  3 on everything else. However, I spent a LOT  of time looking for discs even when I knew pretty much where they landed. At one point I spent about 20 minutes looking for a Katana. I finally found it, threw it again (on 11) and spent another 10 minutes looking for it again. I guess it was not the brightest idea to play two discs while alone.  :P

Great work on Bevier. I can't wait to see what has been done at Fairfield.

Club members including a multiple term Illinois State Coordinator and World Jr. Champ have been spending a lot of time working at Bevier making course improvements.  The club has also spent close to $2,000 on course improvements at Bevier. Please show your support by purchasing club bagtags. The money raised from bagtag sales goes directly back into course improvements.

Thanks.

I talked to the Waukegan Park District on Friday. They are looking at completing the course work late Sept.

I had a meeting with the park district  this morning. Plans are for all the work to be completed by October 1st.

New Concrete tee pads. (Holes 13, 16, 17, 18, 20, & 21).
The park district is going to dig out the tee pad locations. They'd like us to frame them in for concrete. Once that is complete they'll pour the pads. I'll let everyone know what day we can get a work day going.

Hole #1 Green.
Originally we had an idea to make a nice landscaped circle around #1's basket. The park district had a really good idea and they have plenty of materials. The basket is going to be moved slightly northeast. They are going to bring in huge blocks and line the slope with them. It will make a retaining wall and significant drop off. I attached a picture of a similar wall. Hoping it turns out like this.

Tee Signs
All the tee signs are complete. They are going to install new poles on all the holes that do not have them. Once they are all in they will put the new signs up. They are basic signs with only the hole # but finally the course will be numbered correctly. The original 9 holes will have Blue signs labeled 1 thru 9 so the original 9 hole layout is still playable. Red signs labeled 1 thru 21 will be placed on all 21 holes. The red matches the red arrows on the baskets.

Course map near #1
There is an old map near #1. They are going to update the course map and move it closer to the bulletin board.

Please save the date. We could use your help Saturday Sept 28th. I'll give the exact time when it's locked down.

The Waukegan Park Dept needs help framing the new concrete tees. They plan on doing the rest of the work the following weeks and finishing before the IOS event.

We could really use your help on Saturday morning. We are starting at 8am rain or shine. Goal #1 is to get the new tee pads framed. The park district is digging them out this week. They would like us to stain the existing tee sign posts on Saturday if the weather permits. I'd like to install the last 2 baskets as well.

Today they cleared holes #16 and 17 of stumps and debris. Now that is completed those areas will be added to the normal mowing.

The tee pad to #13 has to be moved up 15 or 20 feet. They cannot install it between the trees.

The tee pad to #16 has to be moved as well. They wanted to move it up but I refused to allow that hole to become an easy one. The tee pad will be about 15 feet behind where it is now. That hole is going to be a beast. It has a very fair gap but the distance makes it nasty.

Chris Jordan & Dave Nelson were out at Bevier today. The park district dug the new tees and filled them with gravel. They tamped them down so they are flat.
