Awesome Tim!!

If anyone has a weed whacker please bring it. Mine is broken from the last outing.

I am very excited and somewhat bummed after today. I rushed out of work as soon as I could today. I met the workers across the street. I was out there directing them from 1:30 to 3:30. Quite a bit got cleared across the street and it's going to make it much more playable.

Prior to me arriving they cleared the fairway on #6/#12. That looks great. Unfortunately on hole #9/#19 he just went nuts. He literally cleared all the rough between #8/#15 & #9/#19. The rough will grow back in time but for now both holes have gotten somewhat easier.

It looks like we have a big turnout coming out. We are going to bust this out in an hour or less. That's the goal.

If you have a weed whacker bring it. Other tools that would be good would be loppers and anything to cut small stumps out on the green to #9/#19.

We plan on playing afterward. No groups larger than 4. I want to play with Scott P and Mike K to show them the course and map information for next year. The plan is a new course map and score cards at tee #1.

Just wanted to thank all the hard work that everyone has put into Bevier this year. The course is looking great! Come out to the IOS event next weekend. Please consider joining DISContinuum Disc Golf Club. Without the club this course would be the standard 9 hole course.

Improvements for 2014. Hole #1 landscaping and switching back to original basket.
Hole #13 clearing of new long fairway and construction of tee pad.
Hole #20 clearing for new long tee and construction of tee pad.
Hole #21 design and installation of the final hole.
Stencil distances on tee posts.

Local disc golfers. Please write your hole in one shot on your disc and not tee signs, posts, or baskets.

The park district was out Monday afternoon finishing the final fall clean up. The park and course looks great. Someone decorated the pine tree back on #17. It looks pretty cool.

Got a couple practice rounds in yesterday. The bev is looking great! On a sad note the tree face on hole #13 is gone.  :'( The tree face on #18 is still there for now. Also American flag on #11 gone.

CEValkyrie

Not sure what happened to the face on #13.

I was out there when the flag blew down last Saturday. The wind ripped it from the pole.

Someone either brought a screwdriver or ripped that face off the tree. Pisses me off.  We'll have to bring a ladder and move the other face higher.
But the consistent vandalism over the years is exactly why I'm not installing the benches I've built for the course unless we can sink them in concrete.

On the bright side, leagues start next week!

I'll be out at Bevier to clean loose sticks and debris from the creek on holes 16 & 18. I'm going to start around noon and put in at least a hour. Anyone that wants to enjoy the creek stank with me is welcome.

DiscGolfSchodt

Today 5-21-2014 at noon that is.

jimklem

Wish I could, Tom.  That's some icky stuff.
Thanks for doing this!
If you end up with lots of bags of garbage, I think the best place for them is next to the building in between the bathrooms. The Park District will probably be out there cleaning up in the next few days before the holiday weekend.

Daniel and I, and possibly Adrian, will be out there early on Sunday before leagues to re-stabilize the bridge.

I spent about an hour out there and stayed by 18's green. In the recent week's someone has been building up small walls with sticks to block the creek behind the basket. I've been cleaning loose sticks and small brush to make that green as fast as possible and make the creek come into play more. Whoever keeps building walls please stop. It is a benifit for the course to have baskets around water, what is the point in blocking the creek?

jdude97

Is the 21st hole built/in playing condition yet? On the page regarding the league at this course, multiple people have said you guys only play 20 holes even though the poster for the event (which looks awesome by the way) and the course page on DGCR says there's now a new 21st hole. Either way, looking forward to making it out to this course, which will only be my 4th ever course!

CEValkyrie

Hole #21 is not complete yet. Hopefully by the event.

Bevier needs your help!
Work Day
Saturday, July 19
8:00am-12noon (or sooner)

You will be getting dirty and maybe even wet. Dress appropriately.

1) Bridge work.  We will be reinstalling the new bridge on Hole 18.
We are in need of a gas powered chainsaw and bring your cordless drills, please.
We will be making it higher and stronger so it will be impervious to nature and vandals.

2)  Creek clean out. Removing debris and dams to help water flow.

3). Garbage pickup in woods between Holes 12 and 20.

Any time you can give is much appreciated! I will provide water and maybe some snacks. Show up for 30 minutes or 3 hours - it will make a difference!  Thanks!

Any help you can offer tomorrow morning is greatly appreciated!  We really need some manpower out there.
Anyone who shows up tomorrow gets a raffle ticket for a new premium disc to be raffled off at the Invitational on August 1st.
Please let me know if you are coming, so I can pick up enough donuts.  :)

I'm hoping some folks can stay around after leagues and finish up the bridge work we started yesterday.  HUGE thanks to Ryan A. for busting his hump for 5 hours yesterday!
We completed a cool, new, tunneled walking path to Tee 19, away from the creek but still have some tree/bridge work to do.  Please help if you can.
