Thats kinda the plan but is heavily dependant on your league commissioner actually doing it... =)

The rain from the last 36 hours has nearly reached the baskets on 8A & 8B (B & C). We ended up not being able to play them today & instead added holes 19 & 20.

Bridge is still there & passable but you'd have to wade thru 6"+ of water in order to get to any firm ground once across. The water was within 5' of 8B's basket & about the same distance from 8A.

How many players today?

If you are looking for a dry place to play Bevier is looking very nice. The entire park was mowed today. The only muddy area was on  the east side of the wooden bridge.

I talked to the guy mowing and he said he'd do it. I did not stick around to see if he did or not.

The basket has been ordered and should be installed in a week or so.

How did the bridge hold up?  Any chance that the PD would put wood chips on the east side of the bridge?

Bridge hasn't moved an inch. I'm sure they will. Just need to add that extension. If the chips are added close to the creek they'll get washed away. I'll get them to do the path.

Brett tells me that hole 5E has been installed. Yay! No more Skill Shot!

Then he went on to tell me that WPD messed up 6A (FKA hole A) while trying to pull the anchor out of the ground to relocate the position. The basket is at WPD's repair shop for probably the next couple weeks while they undo whatever damage they did to it. Boo, need to use the skill shot!

Thanks to Tom M, Dan M., Spike, & Mirth for working on the course today. We cleared the fairway to 6A & moved the tee pad to the long position. The basket will be moved to it's new position in a week or two. It will be a nice wooded hole with 2 routes. You can go left or right around the big tree in the middle.

We also cleaned up all the walking paths from hole to hole and the tee area by #8B.

Hole 6A is now back in the ground. Officially the course can be called an 18 hole course. I'm headed out there around 1pm to play today for a few hours.

Hole 5B's tee has a large hole in the middle w/lots of pieces of flypad near the tee. Couldn't really tell if it was a mower casualty, kids, or animals.

If we can't get WPD to front the cost of replacement, maybe we could get them to give us some letter of a donation.... WPD is most likely a nonprofit org & we could claim the cost of the pads on our taxes for the next few years.

That's almost surely mower damage. Brett, can you talk to them about what Mirth said and also ask that they be careful about mowing around them?

Yesterday at league I noticed that the rubber tee pads on the west side of the park took a beating from the club challenge and are in pretty bad shape. I would not mind putting time in to maybe put some framing and a base layer for the pads but would not know where to get materials or if its even a possibility.

skipache

in oakbrook we built wood frames, and filled them so that pads would be flater and longer lasting, i would surmise that something similar would work in waukegan...

I agree with Jason - talk to whoever put in those pads at Oak Brook.  I know that they dug into the ground a couple inches so that the wood frame would not be elevated, but then it was a really nice wood frame that was put together with the fly pads then attached all the way around to keep it firmly in place.  They have held up VERY well.

Im not sure if anyone knows about this yet but i was at Bevier today and i saw the bridge that crosses the creek on the wooded hole after hole number 8 is broken almost in half . I was able to walk on it still but it is very unstable . It looked like one of the big logs that the top of the brige is nailed to is missing so the bridge is sitting half in the water .

Few updates.

All the baskets have been labeled 1 thru 18. I'm contacting the WPD to find out when the tee signs will be changed.

Tom S., Dave N., Dan M., & I picked up the course today.

Tom S., Chris J., & Deryk, S. did a great job with hole #13 (formally 6A) & hole #16 (formally 8A). They cleaned the fairways and cleared around the tees to give more seating areas behind the tees. They also have new paths leading to them so you walk up behind the tee.

Someone fixed the bridge!

I'm going to try to get basket #4 relocated back about 50 ft.
I'm hoping to get some trees planted on #1 or the basket possibly moved.
I'm trying to get a 2nd pin placement on #9 since the long pin placement is pretty much useless now. The pin would be tucked to the right across the creek.
