Jon and I attended an Exploration Day at Copeland Manor School in Libertyville yestarday representing DISContinuum Disc Golf Club. Being a teacher, this is one of the most organized events i've ever seen at a school. The day started with a fantastic breakfast. There was an opening ceremony that followed. Ron Rivera of the 85 Bears & now defensive coordinator spoke as well as a magician. There were about 40 different presenters at this event. There were 4 one hour sessions during the day. Each kid had to choose 4 presenters that they wanted to see prior to the event. Each kid had a laminated schedule and each presenter had an attendance sheet. We had 53 students attend our disc golf demo. Jon & I covered disc golf basics and handed out updated disc golf information packets. After session 2 we had a one hour break for lunch. They then served an awesome lunch too. I had a blast. Did I miss anything Jon?

I got a thank you packet in the mail from Copeland Manor School today. There were 5 thank you cards in it, 4 from students. The art on them is priceless, but the words are pretty good also. Below you will find transcripts of each one. We had 53 students during the four sessions and I'm glad that some of them thought enough of it to pick us to thank. Just the fact that they had 37 different presentations to choose from and 53 chose to see ours, was good to begin with.

Here are the thank you notes, with spelling mistakes preserved.

Dear Mr. Brakel,
Thank you for teaching me how to play frisbee golf. I learned how throw it 4 different ways. It took me 3 shots to get it in the hole. When we did the contest I lost because I did not try my hardest. Please come again some other time.

Sincerely.
Annie

Jon + Brett,

I can't say "Thank You" enough for all your help in making Copeland Manor's Exploration Day a success. I have included photographs and thank you cards from the children. You have made a difference in the lives of our students.

THANK YOU!

Debbi (Debbi was one of the volunteers (parent? I'm guessing) who helped plan and run the Exploration Day.)

Coming home and opening that and reading them made me forget about all my petty troubles for a good long while.
