A date has been set for this year's Sturgeon Full Moon.  It is Saturday July 31, 2004 and will be held at the Brats' private nine-basket, 18-hole course.  This is the weekend after IOS #2.  Entry fee: $5.  PDGA Sanctioned Dr. X offering only the Gold and Silver divisions, but there will be recognition trophies for women, juniors and grand masters.

The field will be limited to 45 players.

Attendance by past Sturgeon participants is strongly encouraged.

Jon, can you update the colormax artwork to change 2003 to 2004?

QuoteWhere is this?
The Brats' Course is just outside Ann Arbor.  Brat, by the way, is pronounced like the spoiled child, not the grilled sausage.

The Sturgeon web page is up, and yes it's supposed to look ugly--in keeping with the Sturgeon tradition.

Great webpage!  I decided to change the format to Open and Advanced, only, rather than Gold and Silver only.  The concept is, compete for trophies, pay very little, gamble for prizes if you must, but that format is starting to look like a piping plover in this state...

This is the kind of pre-tournament e-mail that blesses my heart.

A guy e-mailed me saying he wanted to play this tournament but he had never heard of the BRATS course and had no idea where it was and did not know anything about the format.

So he's saying he wants to play this tournament because I'm running it?  It seems to be the only factoid he has!

I can accomodate a few Illinois players for the Sturgeon.  The guest room and the living room are available.  Terry will let you camp for free on the course.  You can camp in my way-back too.

The BRATS course is jungly and tough.  We will require each foursome to send a spotter on every hole.  When we have done that, no one has lost a disc.

Here is a BRATS thing that is cool and fun:  If you get an ace on any hole from any tee at any time, you get to designate the location of the lion.  The lion is a life-sized plastic lion.  Currently he guards the basket on the last hole that was aced unless there has been another ace since then.

Ha, that is awesome. We need to put one in front of #8 @ Fairfield.

The Sturgeon is done and posted in the tour stats at PDGA.com.  It satisfied all my needs, if not all my expectations.  It set a new record for the lightest attended PDGA sanctioned event I've ever run AND the tournament event value was 387.5%!!  It helped having trophy discs that did not cost me anything.
