Usually when a disc gets lost from its owner, it loses its Karma also. When a disc has lost its karma it is inevitable that it will be lost again and/or fly poorly. There are several known ways to restore a disc's karma.

1) Sell or trade the disc to someone else. This resets the disc's karma just as buying a new disc does.

2) Give the disc away to someone worthy. Any kid will do. Someone playing with frisbees. A family playing with frisbees is best. This not only restores the karma to the lost disc given away, but it also gives a shot of karma to the discs of the person who gives away the lost disc. Try this the night before a tournament for a good boost for the next day's morning round.

3) And this one's tricky. Sometimes the finder of a lost disc is worthy him or herself. Especially if this person found the disc while helping someone else look for their disc. But there are loads of ways that one can be worthy (see #2).

#'s 1-3 only apply if there is no indication on the disc who it belongs to. I am of the feeling that no matter how hard you try to return a disc to its rightful owner, if it has a name on it you won't be able to restore the karma until you return it to the owner. Now, if the owner tells you on the telephone or message board or whatever that he doesn't want it back, then see #2.

That's what I think on the subject, but then I might be crazy.

If there is no name, it's anyones game. I usually throw all the used ones with no name into my box that I use at school & for demos. I have also done what Jon has done & give discs to people, especially with the players throwing regular frisbees.

I actually got a call today. I left my beat laying out @ Bevier last night. I've had quite a few calls on lost discs.

Consider yourself lucky. I've had two calls *ever* and only one of the calls resulted in a disc being returned.

...And that call wasn't even to return the disc, it was to let me know they weren't going to be returning it.

I agree with Brett on this one. Very rarely do I ever find a disc, but when I do, if there is no name it's staying with me until I find someone who might need one. I have found a few with names and have given them back to the rightful owners (I used to find Shawn's discs all the time, which is how I met him). I'll try the disc and see what it's like but I don't carry any that I've found.

The only time I'd give a "no name" disc is if we're in a tourny or league. I'll assume that someone in the event lost it.

I've lost a couple and never received any phone calls.

I have my name, phone # and PDGA # on all my discs. The only ones I think someone would keep would be the Dr. Dyes.

I got a call...once. It was a message from someone who'd found a disc of mine in Manitowoc WI...I'd lost it at least a year earlier in Sheboygan, about 25 mi away so it was apparently one of my longer drives...

...I called the # back and got a disconnect message.

I talked to a guy I know in the Quad-Cities at Peoria last month who saw my name on a disc at a used sports store, but it was apparently too beat to rescue - it was a Stratus that I don't even remember losing back there so it had to be years ago.

I'm taking a disc with me to Worlds to try to return to a Calif. guy that I see is on the Pro Master list. It has his name but no phone #. I was playing Stafford Lake in Novato 2 yrs ago and I threw a 172ish blue JLS into some fairly thick brush. After looking for a good 5 minutes I found a 172ish blue JLS - but it wasn't mine.

Then I did find my own about 15 ft away from the other one. I guess they're consistent discs...
thanks,

if you went throught the work of finding the disc and maybe getting it out of a tree it's yours to keep
