Can't Putt...I could not agree more. When i went out a few weeks ago and saw what they did with the tree removal, I could not believe my eyes  Why in the hell would they remove that first tree on 5...it only made the hole what it was!!! On 7, they took out one of the first trees on the left, which now gives a perfect alley for a simple straight shot, and no need for a big bender.

They did add a bunch of limestone to the tee boxes, but with the amount of play this course gets now (ealiey up 100% from 1 year ago) the tee's will be uneven in the very near future.

Don't get me wrong, I still love playing this course...but this tree removal was not really thought through IMO.

is there anybody that can be contacted to inform them - hey, why did you take out the trees?  Maybe there was a vocal group of people saying the trees made it too hard (from only casual players).

Nothing really gets done unless your voice gets heard by someone that can do something about it.

I hate that they took out so many trees, im far from a pro by all means but this course is just way to easy now. I used to love playing this course and now with the amount of trees that have been taken out I think I might quit playing this course

St. Charles is closed due to storm damage.  The park disctrict is working on it today.

The course was reopened by 2 p.m today. Hole 4 lost a couple of trees near the pin. There is some water near the base of the hill on 8, but besides being a little soggy,  the course is playable. Climbing the hills was a little rough- but with the lack of chuckers, DeKalb being underwater, and Kirkland probably unplayable-  I wasn't upset with the course conditions. Jason

The gate at the St. Charles course was closed at 4PM yesterday, Sun 9/16/07.  Anyone know why?

Gates for the St. Charles course were open on Sunday afternoon, 5-7 cars in the parking lot.

The paved the entrance last weekend, and looks like the entire lot might be done in the near future. Was out there on wednesday afternoon, and noticed a few park district employees with a blue print or two....lets keep our fingers crossed for 9 more holes :)

Wouldn't mind seeing a couple of the new holes just redone (or at least just hole 2) along with a bigger parking lot, but 18 would be sweet too :)

Heck yeah! If we use Michler Logic, that course will get better than a LOT of courses in the state just by having another 9 baskets   ;D

Drove by the course yesterday...no activity at all. Gates Closed, baskets still out :'( This is the longest the park district has waited in three years to get the course back opne after the winter.

THE GOOD:
New crushed limestone has finally been added to the tee boxes.

THE BAD:
     It was not tamped down.

THE UGLY:
Nor was it leveled.  It was loosely spread with a shovel.  Some tee pads were slightly mounded in the middle in apparent attempt to compensate for the hole that will quickly develop.  It's like throwing off a sandy beach.  In fact, some tees have had some of the mounded limestone kicked off, presumedly to establish firm footing.
