We had a good time yestarday. Dan won his 2nd putting championship of the weekend nailing 8 of the 10 putts from various spots & scoring the most points. I tied for 3rd. The Ace Race was fun but brutally windy. I used up my only ace in practice but managed to hit metal twice. I think there were 4 aces hit during the 36 hole race. The mini golf looked fun but it was windy & heck & i'm terrible at throwing a mini. Someon shot a -2.

I had fun even though my mini got caught in a tree on hole #4 (Thanks to Mike for retrieving it for me  :D ) I didn't hit any thing but the wind was challenging! It was my first experience at an ace race. I enjoyed the putting contest too.

Quit work, play disc golf :)

Definitely a fun event.
I, too, was shutout...although I hit a few trees  :P

Windy day is an understatement (if it can be). I seen discs fly backward, sideways, flip right over...interesting to watch.

All in all, a good time. Fun games. Just need a calm day to figure out what exactly the Proto disc can really do.

Every person I personally spoke to regarding the Spassland Ace Race said they had a good time on it.  The day DID have some wind but that didn't stop 5 people from hitting aces.  Todd "Kozy" Kozlencer ended up winning over $200 in merch and prizes for the day's efforts.

We also gave out homemade mini baskets for the putting champion and for the mini golf winners!  The putting contest consisted of a 5 station / 10 putt challenge that was a real challenge in the wind.  The 9 hole mini course was won by Ryan "Tee" Hornickel who won by 2 shooting an impressive -2.

I plan to duplicate a similar outing THIS COMING SUNDAY.  It will be held at Grafton's Lime Kiln Park and promises to be a good time.  The Packer Game IS going on but since the Ace Race only takes an hour for each 18 hole round, we'll have plenty of time to listen to the game, cookout, disc golf, play mini golf, and compete in the putting contest.  Please e-mail me and let me know if you plan to attend as we are looking forward to a great day with plenty of good times.  Again, I encourage everyone to bring out a radio or TV and their grill and we can enjoy disc golf AND the Packers.

2 Important links:

1st one is the flyer for the Ace Race which includes directions to Grafton:

2nd one is a Discraft sponsored survey.  They want you to provide feedback about the event and the discs.  They are giving away random PRIZES just for completing the survey.:

Jon,

You are planning on possibly coming up THIS weekend?  Awesome if you do.

Do you have any thoughts or suggestions for how things were done?  I sometimes have a 'harsh' outer shell when it comes to suggestions because they typically are in the form of 'b*tching or complaining' and not actual suggestions or thought out ideas.  Please do let me know if you have any.

Although I'm VERY worried about a low turnout for this Sunday I guess it might not be too bad if we only have 10 people going for aces because I'll still have over $200 in merch to hand out to 1st!  Catch me back if you can think of anything.

Terry,

Looks like I probably won't be there. Becky wants to play women's league at Round Lake at 5pm and I don't think we'd make it in time.

Suggestions: hmmm.... I can't think of anything right off the top of my head. I really liked the layout of the mini golf. The OB made it fairly challenging. The rounds went smoothly. Some people thought that the break between rounds was overly long. Becky and I came to hang out all day. We cooked lunch and dinner after it was all over. We had no problem with the timing. One thing that I've found is that no matter how quick an event is or no matter how long a break is, there is always someone who wants it to go quicker and leave earlier.

Oh, I have one suggestion. Actually it's just a personal preference. I liked the putting contest. My personal preference is that a putting stations are setup and contestents put from each station in the best way that they can. Rather than have a mando station that is a straddle putt, just put the mark right behind a tree or some other obstruction. Same thing with the kneeling putt. The reason why I prefer having the putting contest like this is because I don't do a straddle putt. I do a step out upside down forehand or backhand flick depending on the situation.

Anyway, that's a really small thing and other people's opinions will vary so it wouldn't make any difference to my attendance if you changed it or not.

Anyway, it was a very fun event and I recommend attending it if you can.
