Drove through today on my way home, all the baskets are in plus what appears to be a practice basket after the first hole of all places.

Saw a 6-some out one discing it.

Walked the course this weeked. This one will be a fun one to play.  #9 was the only one up, #8 looks to be (to me) the coolest one and with all the water we will need some scuba gear. Glad to hear all the baskets are now up, might need to take a little trip this weekend and really see how this ones plays.
Mike
Has anyone contacted Zions Park District to see if they might want to get into this sport?

Dan Michler

the water doesn't really come into play unless u get a bad kick off of a tree on hole 9.

Looks great so far...looks like all baskets in.
Very good to see longer distances hopefully this trend will continue in lake county.
I put first throw from 8 onto Washington ST. This could be problematic.
#9 alternate through fountain (FOR FUN)

Look forward to playing all 9 soon.

I hope this trend of 9 hole courses in lake county can stop though.  thats way too many holes!!!  I would like to knock out a round in 5 or 10 minutes, so i wish there were more 7 holers like in Wildwood.  that place in on the cutting edge of where disc golf is headed.

Wildwood is played loyaly by local players and is producing great young players that would not have had this exposure. It is a quiet park and is great for practicing. If bored with it play it Backwards or play alternate tee area.YOU DECIDE ! Bad rapping wildwood does not promote the game. Keep the faith Lake County is going to explode with more courses. 18 Challenging Holes is difficult but someone will get it right ! Work on your game and support the sport.

id be happy with a nine holer close to me

it takes at least 20 minutes to get to closest course

nice sarcasm dan
i think mangler missed it

mangler - i think what dan is trying to say is that the nine holer
courses in the northern area are not challanging to the
advanced players

he wants courses like lemon lake county park in cedar lake, IN
type   27 baskets in the ground  and challanging not just pitch and putt

dan - mangler gots a point   the newbies have to start somewhere

any one ever play the course in oak lawn, il  at 95th and Nashville (by the mall)
in the old days   hell we played this course with frisbees and then
the one disc (eclipse)  the course was to small using discs
so they pulled it  fun little course though

the problem is that the land available for disc course development in the Northern
area is expensive why put a disc course in if you can put houses or condos
and it also seems that the smaller communities have limited space of unused land

airspuds mode engaged  :P

mangler - I agree that the short courses help promote the sport.

airspuds - thanks for mediating

mangler - I would like to see a well designed 18 hole course in Lake County.  I guarantee it would be a heavily played course that would do alot more for the sport than putting 5 more wildwoods and buffalo groves would.

airspuds - good point about the lack of available land

mangler - I don't want to have to play a course backwards to make it fun.  I play every day and stuff like that gets old pretty quick.

airspuds - ur posts are awesome dude

dan - ur an idiot

airspuds - the white sox suck

everybody - don't take my posts too seriously

Today's episode of thread drift brought to you, in part, by Dan Michler.

Dan & I played for tags there last night.

Hole #3 is by far the toughest hole on the course. I cannot 2 it right now. I don't have a turnover driver that can hold a line for that long distance & my Roc attempt came approx 50 to 75 feet short.

Hole 9 is not 2'able for me as well.

I managed to 2 #5 both rounds last night. That hole is fun.

Between Dan & I we 2'd every hole on the course except #3 & #9.

I still think the tee pads are about as bad as i've seen. Poor Dan was sliding all over the place. The tee signs on several holes are right by the tee pad.

The other big complaint I have is how far hole #1 is from the parking lot & the long walk from #3 to #4.

This however is a fun course & probably tougher than Adler. In my opinion it is a better course than Adler but it could be the best 18 hole course in this area. That is what is frustrating to me.

I don't like how crooked the tee signs are, its like somebody was drunk when they were installed.

Still really don't mind the pads, personally, and I can deuce #9! :P

Huge park on the corner of Washington & Almond in Gurnee. Basically take Washington St. West till you hit Almond. If you reach US 45 you've gone too far & need to turn around.

Sounds like you now have a good cluster of courses for that tournament Jon wants to run where you play several short courses with several short drives.

So what happened to you?

I turned onto Gages Lake at like 3:55 and it started to pour- skies just opened up.

Didn't seem like it would stop so I turned around

I think I'm going to head out there again, I'd really like to play there

mirth

Heh, missed my window of opportunity for today. I played 3 holes and didn't really feel like going on. This after waiting ~25 minutes for the downpour to let up.

Brett and I will be playing there on Friday. I have the next couple days off... :)
