Better directions from 94 Northbound:
Exit Rt 120 West towards Grayslake.
120 to Hunt Club, right (only way you can turn, first stoplight)
Hunt Club North to Washington
Left on Washington
Washington to Almond Rd, next light, go left
Right into the Warren Twp Center, park by Shelter C, walk around ball diamond to 1st tee in woods.

Southbound on 94:
Exit Grand Ave West (no exit on 120)
Grand Ave to Hunt Club Rd, turn left
Hunt Club to Washington (bank on corner), go right.
Washington to Almond Rd, go left
Turn into park.
Don't forget your towel!

For a guy who doesn't play disc golf, Ray Baker sure promotes disc golf. He says the remaining signs (course sign and directionals) will be in soon.

I think the course is short but challenging, and a ton of fun to play. Yes, too bad about the sled hill's Holes 8 & 9 being closed during the winter, but heck, I just LOOOOOVE 7-hole courses, right Jon?  :P  Also, I found 4 of the holes had dual tees; are there more?

A friendly observation:
Seems to me that coures are being installed and DISContinuum has little to do with these projects.  If you want an 18-hole course, get out to park districts and make some presentations. Or, design some alternate tees for existing courses - this is a cheap way of improving the course that Park Districts can understand.  I'd like to see you guys out some effort into creating courses instead of just having tourneys. There is a lot of talent in the club - I urge you to expand your horizons.

Total Distinct Holes in Lake County: 105*

(*) 36-Bevier, 7-Wildwood, 18-Fairfield, 13-Adler, 9-Fink, 9-DannyCunniff, 13-WarrenTwp.  I might be off by a few on the number of alternate tees at Adler and Warren.

A friendly question:  Are any leagues proposed for Warren Twp?

I'd be interested in knowing what Ray has done to promote disc golf.

A friendly response:

Right now there is very little "real" knowledge of the game in this area. DISContinuum provides a club that organizes leagues, tournaments, & a website that educates and helps promote the sport & how to play it. It also provides this message board to help communicate disc golf topics. The club is only 43 members strong with various members adding what they want to the club. Hopefully with more tournaments come more educated players that help promote the sport locally. Hopefully with this growth park districts will realize this game can be more than just chuckers going out smoking dope, drinking, littering, & vandalizing courses.

Personally, I have contacted several park districts and others such as camp grounds & forest preserves. At this point i'm in no rush to get a course thrown into the ground. Most park disctricts in this area have land that is inadequate for a disc golf course of my taste. Hopefully some day the stars will line up and a piece of land will open for a championship style course.

I have also been doing my part in talking to the local park districts. If any of our members have some good leads, we'd love to help. So far, I only have nibbles.

As one of the very few people who actually plays the glencoe course (its very peaceful out there) I can assure you it is in cook county.  take the tower rd. exit east to get there.  why is adler 13 holes?

its a great idea to get an 18 hole course!  but how.

Quotewhy is adler 13 holes?
I have no idea why anyone would count Adler as 13 holes. I think counting baskets is a better way to measure a course anyway. Many, many courses have "alternates" that are just as good if not better than the existing course. Bruce and I sometimes played play Buffalo Grove from all asphalt tees using all the existing baskets from the bicycle path. That was a fun course. If you counted those plus the alternates that the weekly guys there play, then BG is a 36 "hole" course. That's a weird way to count how many holes are in Lake County. I'd count baskets in Lake County if I was so inclined. But since I don't even live in Lake County I'd probably be more inclined to count how many baskets we have in Cook County.

IMHO baskets are a better yardstick of progress in Lake County, or any county for that matter.

MOKENA

this is the way to do it

27 holes (baskets)

not sure of how many tees  but most holes have alternate tees

3 port a potties ( i think) at least 2
1by 1
1by 18
1 by 11 long T or 13 basket whichever u prefer

at the T in July  they had a  trailer with drinks and hot dogs and candy
also had the concession stand open for lunch
they sell disc s at the park dis  office

oh yeah 2 practice baskets which will be great once the new parking lot
gets put in

it appears that disc golf in MOKENA has the FULL support of the park dis

its not the # of baskets in the ground that really matters
its the quality of the course

think ft wayne  swinney park   it was 12 spider baskets
i always thought it had a good mix of holes
