I know this thread is WAYY old, but I just got re-introduced to this a week ago. I had played it as a kid, but was thinking it wasn't going to be as fun now that I'm an adult. It's a freakin blast!

Just think of Lacross on Bumper Cars and you've pretty much got it.

I'd be up to getting some club members together & reserving some court time, probably at the Vernon Hills location as most members are in the Northern burbs. What's everyone think?

I use the ball blocking technique and then sneak up from the flank before I unleash my rocket.

Note to self: Dan likes to sneak up on people and release his rocket! AVOID DAN.... Wear iron jeans

Whirly ball is great! I got a group of 40 people together a year ago. 2 hours, 2 courts, pizza and beer included, and it was a little less than $40 a person. I get coupons in the mail frequently for this place if something does get put together.

And he's been releasing it since 2004!

At Downtown Disney they now have this game where you drive around in bumper cars and the bumper cars have a cannon that shoots nerf balls.  If you hit another car in one of their target areas they spin out of control.  Lots of fun.  Almost as much fun as the 3d Pirate Ship game.

Unless their prices have changed, Whirley Ball in Vernon Hills is $200/hour to rent a court.  You can have up to 10 people playing at a time, so it's essentially $20/person per hour.  I loved playing when I did last, but since I'm a big guy I had some trouble steering.  I wound up with inner thigh bruises from trying to steer and getting hit at the same time!

Yea, I had a 15% off or something like that, which is why it was a little less than $40 a person.
I hear ya on the inner thigh bruises too.

I'm going to Disney in April. I'll have to check that out Bruce.

I've got 7 co-workers & 1 friend going to the Lombard Whirlyball next Wednesday 3/7. 8 of 10 on the court is OK, but the max of 10 is preferred. If anyone wants in on that PM me. Our reservation is at 6 p.m.

As always when trying to get a group of people to go out, someone dropped out at the last minute. So we've currently got 7 players, which would mean uneven teams. If anyone wants to come out, I'll pay for 1/2 your portion, so you'd get an hour or Whirlyball for $10.

Which one are you playing at?

Lombard at 6.

I've also got a tentative yes from another friend of mine, but it's not positive yet.

The open invite is still out there also, we'll have 8/10 players if the tentative person confirms, so there'd still be 2 spots. As soon as I know for sure about this person, I'll post.

Mukey

OK, the tentative is confirmed

This was a BLAST last night. I think it helps if you have 16-20 people so that teams can sit out a game & have a beer, eat something, chill, talk some smack, whatever.

This would be a great thing to do with some club members, but with the weather turning the corner I think we'd all rather play some golf.

Anyway, I know Mike Krupicka expressed some interest if I was going to do this in the future, and everyone that went last night also wanted to do it again. I'll post on here when we're thinking about doing it to see if anyone wants to come out. It's definetly one of the most fun things to do that doesn't involve golf or a significant other.   ;D
