Take a look at the PDGA ratings/points of the winners of the Intermediate division. They both played Advanced all of of last year except for one tourney.

I looked at this after someone had mentioned something to me at the Chill. I will no longer feel bad for playing my rating, which technically still places me in Intermediate...I will now only answer to S.F.B: Sand Fricken' Bagger.

Don't get me wrong, I'm more than happy with the whole event and our placement, but how do you play in the Intermediate division after you just played a year in Advanced and did fairly well? They would have cashed in the Advanced division on Sunday.

Just a short rant... 8)

Looking at the Advanced results is more than a little frustrating.  4 shots separates 1st through 8th.  What a bottleneck.  neither the best shot nor alternate shot really separated the teams very much.

Serg, I don't disagree with your sentiments, but when a tournament's unsanctioned it's pretty much a free-for-all as far as ratings go.

Personally, I think it's goofy that 'amateurs' just don't play for cash in unsanctioned tournaments anyhow, if the divisions could truly be ratings-controlled. Then again, if it's not sanctioned, how would you control it? Especially with doubles?

It goes back to the whole 'pro vs. am' argument, which is also a bit goofy. Everybody plays in their ratings-defined divisions and plays for various levels of cash, I say. (But sure, I'll play in an age-protected division when it's convenient because I can and until I can't, but that's another thread, or several...)

Hey Dan, fake your age next year! Pat & I got to play with women both rounds on Saturday!! (got spanked the first round too... wait, let me rephrase that....)
thanks,

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

Dan Michler

well i wouldn't have to fake my age.  the cumulative just has to be 100.  so for saturday next year i'll just need to find a 75 year old who can make it around 48 holes in the snow without dying!
