Just wanted to post this since the snow has started to accumulate on the ground.

You may use ribbons on your discs in league play.

In the winter the cement tees get pretty slick with ice underneath them.
You may tee to the right, left, or behind the cement tee pads when snow & ice are present. You must be within 5 feet of the cement tee pad and cannot go past the front edge (imaginary line) of the cement tee pad. We don't want to anyone to get hurt. Use your best judgement and throw from a spot that is safe.

The pond & creek is out of bounds for winter league. If you can't tell if you are in the pond or creek, both teams make a ruling & move on. Give the benefit of a doubt.


As the colder months come, we will start playing 2 rounds from the shorter tees. This will start during Winter League. This will speed play. The wind & cold gets brutal at Bevier Park. I can't wait to see discs skipping on the pond by #5. They look like hockey pucks .

Yes, when the snow gets deep the ribbons can be effective.

I use a piece of duct tape. I cut a slit in the center of the tape then feed the ribbon thru the hole. Just tape it on the bottom in the center of the disc.

I haven't seen any problems with the ribbon affecting the flight of the disc much.
There are usually alot of drifts out on the Parkside course, so the ribbon helps. Once the holiday season is over ribbon will be very cheap. I suggest buying a roll or two.

Not sure who came up with the Shoegoo idea for secureing the tape but I find it better then the duck tape.  no residue, and easy to peel off.  I bought a tube about 6 years ago and it is still good to go.  you only need about the size of a nickel to hold the ribbon.

this is good to know.  Last year I was looking for a monster for about 20 min.  and a ribbon would have helped.

The shoe goo works better than the duct tape.  In the really cold, the duct tape will pop off when it hits a tree and in the melty cold, the dampness keeps duct tape from adhering.  At the end of ribbon season it is really easy to peel the goo off, provided you used Household Goop brand.  

A ribbon will slow the disc down some and the PDGA refuses to allow this for winter sanctioned play.
