Well tomorrow I am playing in my first full tourney in FL.  I played in the ace race last month but this is a two day, four round PDGA sanctioned tourney.  I guess some big hitters like Ron Russell have already signed up for the pro div. I'll be playing Intermediate level since they don't have a Blind-One armed-Mentally Challenged-Footless-9 year old girl division.  Oh well!  Mike from Sun King will be there with his tent set up and I guess he's paying out half of the winnings but I'm not sure what the rest of the winnings are, but they are paying out to the top 1/3 of each div.  Wish me luck!

Good luck!

Walk quickly yet nonchalantly to your car if the cops show up.  Payout events are clearly illegal in Florida.

I'm being straight about the law but kidding about that any cops might show up.  They don't prosecute that law when there is so much cocaine to chase.

Have fun.  Let us know how that course is because we're supposed to take a non-Disney vacation to Florida this year or next and head down that way to Sannibel.

Bruce,

That's my new home course.  It's ok. Some of the shots are a lot of fun and it's the best of the 3 local courses.  It's not the most well kept but it has the longest holes and most challenging shots.  I enjoy playing it, but I've been spoiled by having UWP my home course :-)  REALLY easy to lose discs there though.

Sanibel is about 15 minutes from my place.  I love it out there.  Not the same since Charley blew through but still a nice place.   Let me know when you're coming down maybe we can meet up for a round

When I was last on Sanibel Island, which was decades before the brain injury so I may be confused, it seems like it was 1/2 military reservation and 1/2 state park with very little development.  Is it still that way?  Does it still have miles of undeveloped public beaches?  That is what I remember.

Yeah there is still a lot of open beach area but a lot of it has been developed with little shops and restaraunts.  There's really not a whole lot to do but it's a beautiful island and the water is almost always bright blue and clear, a little less so since the hurricane.  The water around here still hasn't gotten back to the way it was 100% yet but it's all a matter of time.  Sanibel got hit pretty hard.  It parked itself over Captiva and the island of North Captiva for quite a while...in fact right now, the island of North Captiva is actually two islands.

I don't know about any military on the island but then again I have only been to about half of it, sorry bub.  If you're looking for things to do in the area, PM me and I can give you some suggestions and ideas if you want.
