I think we only have a good idea as to our events & nothing else really... The PDGA calendar could tell you what is already sanctioned & what is proposed/pending.

Hopefully by mid 2005 or for 2006 the state will be headed in the correct direction in terms of coordinated scheduling.

I will e-mail you our planned dates for next summer when I get home tonight. You may also want to e-mail Gary Lewis.

Memorial Day weekend is the annual Prairie Open at Parkside.
Weekend after that (first weekend in June) is the Peoria tourny.

I'm betting that once everything is finalized with IL and WI-in-proximity events that the summer will be pretty full.

Have you considered doing something in the fall? The tournament schedule is pretty packed until after Labor Day, when nearly everything dries up.
There's usually friendly-enough weather in late Oct or early Nov (Windershins notwithstanding.... B)  )

usually gary runs T's at the courses above one each month and a worlds biggest event

good luck finding a date it looks like unsanctioned would be better at this point

already got four non sanctioned events running this year starting in februrary.  i really want a c tier just to get the snowball rolling.  late summer/ fall is definetly a possibility, but sooner the better.

Don't give up on having a sanctioned event.  I'm sure there is a date open at some time.  You will surely have to compete with some WI tournament, but people from this area and downstate would surely come to Rockford.  Just try to get it in as soon as possible.  Seems like mid May or mid June might be good.  Granted, Gary will have tournaments on a couple of those weekends and I'm not sure what the QC is doing, but there might be a weekend in there that would work great.  I'd LOVE to go to a sanctioned Rockford event.  Good luck!

i just got word back from wilbur - what he told me is that he's stoked about having a tournament in rockford and he will include it if we get our stuff together.  he also said that in late january to early february that some illinois td's and the state coordinator will be meeting to devise a tournament schedule for 2005.  the only thing is that he also gave me a link to get all the specifics about hosting an event and i found that tiered events cant be held within 200mi at the closest for a c tier (500mi for a national event).  now i read through it pretty quickly but thats what i saw, and since most courses in illinois are within 200mi of rockford (think of everything north of I-80) that may pose a problem.
but like with everything else where there is will there is a way.  my guess is that we will be having an event this summer, it may not be the biggest or best run, but it will be the basis for several good tournaments to come.  if anybody has ideas, questions, comments please contact.  buenos tardes amigos....

I think you guys will get a huge turnout for that tournament. Those 2 courses will bring a lot of players & it's in a great location.

The meeting in January-February will be too late for us. We already have our schedule done & are sending it to the PDGA. If I were  you, i'd start looking for a weekend ASAP. The longer you wait, the more weekends that get scheduled. Check the PDGA Tour Page.

for gary's tourneys u can usually look at when they were last year and expect him to plan to run them on the same weekend again if he can.  can't wait for a rockford sanctioned tourney though.  i love those courses.
